OPENING THURSDAY NIGHT NFL RECAP
Egads! This game was awful! I can smell the stink of the Cleveland offense all the way in Los Angeles. They are truly wretched. And the Ravens were DYING to give that game away, as once again, Joe Flacco doesn't bother to show up for a nationally televised game. He really tends to do that against the shittier teams in the league. (Why no, I'm not still bitter that the Ravens' 12-7 loss to Jacksonville last year knocked me out of a $5,000 suicide pool when I was part of the final 20, why do you ask?) When the refs are the best performers on the field, there's a problem. I can't believe I'm looking forward to next week's Rams/Cardinals game for entertainment. They certainly can't be much worse than these guys.
RAVENS 23, BROWNS 16

PREVIOUSLY ON IMPACT WRESTLING!
Hulk Hogan arranges to meet the Aces & Eights at their clubhouse in exchange for "Joseph Parks." Sadly, poor Joseph Park gets bopped over the head with a ball-PEEN hammer. Austin Aries tries to live up to Jeff Hardy by facing Bully Ray...and fails. But Jeff Hardy wants the world title and the show ends with a face-off. Impact Wrestling starts right now!

Opening pyro! Tonight, the TV title is up for grabs, the results of Gut Check, plus Austin Aries teams up with Jeff Hardy tonight!

Let's start off with the "Not the nWo" porno music to bring out HULK HOGAN, who's clearly here and not at the Aces & Eights Happy Fun Time Clubhouse. Hogan brings out a baseball bat and plays some air guitar.

Hogan grabs the mic and asks the Impact Zone to watch his back. Hogan marks tonight's show as a turning point, because Bound For Glory is "three stinkin' weeks away, brother!" Why do they have to be "stinkin' weeks"? They certainly can't stink anymore than the Browns offense. KA-CHOW! Hulk reminds us that this is Championship Thursday and that the Television Title is up for grabs. Hogan FINALLY mentions Devon and actually acknowledgse Devon's ongoing contract negotiations! Wow! Hogan says the opportunity comes down to Samoa Joe, Magnus, Garrett Bischoff (WHY???), and Mr. Anderson and he guarantees a new champion tonight. He moves on to James Storm and Bobby Roode and books them in a Street Fight at BFG with a special enforcer...KING MO! HOLY CRAP! Hogan says King Mo will be here next week! Hogan moves on to the Aces & Eights and reminds us that he's going to their clubhouse tonight, even if it means he goes alone tonight.

Cue interruption from STING. Announcers act all shocked that Sting's here. Um...am I missing something with that? Did Sting really go anywhere? Sting grabs the mic and reminds us that the Aces angle started with him. Sting offers to join Hogan at the clubhouse. Hit Sting's music!

Ad break

BOUND FOR GLORY MEMORIES: From 2010, Mr. Anderson recalls his match with Kurt Angle.

KURT ANGLE (w/"THE PHENOMENAL" AJ STYLES) v. CHAVO GUERRERO (w/HERNANDEZ) v. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS (w/KAZARIAN)
Once again, Daniels sports the phallic title belt, because he's a very sexy man. And I say that in a fully heterosexual manner!

Angle and Chavo face off, while Daniels stalls on the apron, so the faces bring Daniels in the hard way. The faces tee off on Daniels for a bit. Kurt charges in and Daniels sends him into the steel post before Chavo wipes out Daniels with a clothesline. Kazarian trips up Chavo and we get face miscommunication, as Chavo thinks it was AJ that tripped him. Meanwhile, Kaz and Daniels take refuge in the ring. Now EVERYONE gets in the ring, as the ref tries to restore order to send us to our next ad break.

We come back with Daniels grabbing an armbar, as we see that the referee ejected all of the partners during the ad break. Kurt hits Daniels with clotheslines before hitting Daniels and Chavo with Germans. Angle Slam is countered with a Chavo armdrag, as Chavo sends Kurt out. Chavo hits a headscissors and a dropkick on Daniels. Somersault senton gets 2. Kurt sends Chavo out with a belly-to-belly suplex and hits Daniels with the Angle Slam! Straps go down and the anklelock is applied until Chavo schoolboys Kurt for 2! Kurt takes umbrage to this and both men exchange blows. Three Amigos is blocked and Chavo sends a charging Daniels colliding into Kurt! Chavo hits Daniels with the Three Amigos! Chavo goes up for the Frog Splash, but Kurt swoops in and grabs the anklelock on Daniels! Daniels rolls through to send Kurt into Chavo's corner to send Chavo tumbling out! Chavo catches himself and comes back in. Angle Slam is blocked, Three Amigos is blocked, and Daniels barrels into both men! Daniels hits the STO on Chavo for the quick pin!

WINNER: Christopher Daniels - Good match, but felt short.

Backstage, Hulk Hogan addresses the TV title competitors. He asks Garrett Bischoff why he feels he should be in this group. Bischoff notes that Devon saw something in him. Magnus derides Bischoff for being a mere tag team partner, to which Joe points out the irony. That has Joe and Magnus arguing. Hogan asks Mr. Anderson why he should be part of this group. Anderson delivers a fresh round of cliches. Hogan asks Joe if any of these guys are worthy to be in the ring with him, to which Joe answers no. Magnus points out his worldwide credentials, which Joe answers with his own. Hogan asks Anderson who he'd face, which he answers Bischoff. Magnus says that the Television champion needs to be the best face for TV. Joe tells the other three that no one wants to fight him tonight. Hogan eliminates Magnus, who protests vehemently. Magnus tries to storm out...and pushes a pull-only door. D'oh!

Elsewhere backstage, Brooke Hogan approaches Tara and tells her that there are going to be consequences for last week. Tara takes a phone call with her mysterious Hollywood boyfriend. Brooke tells Tara that she has to earn her title shot before Tara takes another phone call. Brooke takes the phone and tells him that Tara's match is next. Brooke exits with Tara's phone, while Tara asks who she's facing.

Ad break

TARA v. ODB (w/ERIC YOUNG)
Eric Young immediately locks up with Taryn Terrell and does cartwheels.

ODB grabs Tara by the hair and brings her in the hard way. ODB hammers away in the corner. Here are some hairdrags to send Tara out. ODB hits a big shoulderblock and hits some shoulder thrusts. Eric Young wants the tag, while ODB hits a corner forearm. Here's a Bronco Buster! Now Young wants the Bronco Buster until Terrell sends him out. ODB nails Tara with a baseball slide. Tara begs off and offers a handshake. But she doesn't ask to HUG IT OUT, sadly, so she eats a short-arm clothesline. Fallaway slam hits and ODB boots Tara out. Tara grabs her knee and tries to pull herself up with Eric Young, so ODB pounces on her. ODB protests to Young, who notes that his pants are still up. Meanwhile, Tara takes her knee brace off, as Terrell checks on her. ODB checks on Tara, but here's the small package for the pin.

WINNER: Tara - This was a total squash in ODB's favor until the cheap ending. I'm not sure how this builds up Tara as a threat, but I guess a Hollywood boyfriend breeds a strong actress.

The Gut Check result is coming up next!

Ad break - Impact Wrestling is brought to you by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Ok, I've been hearing about this and...yeah, I'll give this a shot.

Last week, Evan Markoupolis competed in Gut Check and Douglas Williams promptly killed him dead. We shift to the Gut Check board room, where Bruce Pritchard berates Al Snow for his reaction to Joey Ryan. The topic shifts to Markoupolis and they admire his drive, but worry about his youth.

Annoying Backstage Guy catches up to Bully Ray and asks who his partner for tonight is. Ray berates the guy for interrupting him while he's on his Fire-Breathing Twittah Machine! The guy wants a hint, but Ray blows him off and asks how good he looked holding the title belt last week before walking off. "And don't follow me! ...And if you do, shoot my calves!" HA!

Elsewhere backstage, Hulk Hogan meets the remaining TV title competitors. Hogan assures Joe one spot, but says he's waffling between Bischoff and Anderson. Anderson challenges Bischoff. Hogan asks Bischoff if he can hang with Joe. Bischoff says he can and Joe snickers at the idea. HA! Hogan tells Bischoff that it's not his time yet and books Joe/Anderson for the TV title, next!

Ad break

Backstage, Bobby Roode approaches Austin Aries. Roode tells Aries that he'll be tagging with Bully Ray tonight. Roode says he has vested interest in the result of the BFG match, since he can't get another shot against Aries, so he's pulling for Jeff Hardy. Roode notes that he's been able to beat Jeff Hardy every single time, but notes that he's never been able to beat Aries. By transitive logic, Roode tells Aries that he's the better wrestler. Roode tries to stir the pot by asking if they really want Jeff Hardy walking around with the title and stealing the spotlight. Roode wishes Aries luck before exiting. "Thanks, Bobby. Keep that luck, though. It's for losers."

"THE SAMOAN SUBMISSION MACHINE" SAMOA JOE v. MR. ANDERSON: TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Anderson does his own intro, as per usual.

Anderson gets a quick cheap shot to start and both men exchange blows. Anderson tries for a quick Mic Check, but Joe blocks it. Joe boxes Anderson's ears in and hits the avalanche/enziguiri combo for 2. Anderson tries to hammer away, but Joe just flies in with a fast back elbow! Snapmare and back chop, but the big kick misses and an Anderson schoolboy gets 2. Swinging neckbreaker from Anderson gets 2. Anderson goes to the mounted punches. Corner charge eats elbow, but Anderson catches Joe coming in. He wants the rolling fireman's carry, but Joe slips out and applies the Kokina Clutch until Anderson hits a jawbreaker to break the hold! Rolling fireman's carry hits, but Joe slips into the crucifix pin for 2! Clotheslines are missed on both ends and Joe nails a headbutt. Another clothesline is missed and Anderson hits his to set up the Mic Check! Mic Check is blocked, so Anderson tries to roll Joe up, so Joe pushes him up and applies the Kokina Clutch! Anderson tries for the ropes, so Joe blocks the arm off and rolls him over! Anderson tries to reach the ropes again, but Joe just methodically kills him with the Clutch and Anderson passes out to give Joe the win and the title!

WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: Samoa Joe - Good to see Joe get a title. Match was merely alright. Tenay puts this over as Joe winning the Grand Slam, which it is! (X, TV, Tag Team, and World titles!)

Video package recaps the Aces & Eights saga.

Backstage, Hogan meets up with Sting. An intern delivers some documents to Hogan and notes that Bruce Pritchard wants him to sign them. Hulk starts to sign them, but the intern reveals PEPPER SPRAY and she maces the shit out of Hogan and Sting! And here's the Aces & Eights beatdown! They throw hoods on Hogan and Sting and throw them into the back of their van! One of the Aces holds up a TV camera and notes that they'll take plenty of pictures.

Ad break

Let's take a look at what we just saw!

Later tonight, Austin Aries and Jeff Hardy face Bully Ray and Bobby Roode!

Jeremy Borash and the Gut Check panel are here for tonight's Gut Check. EVAN MARKOUPOLIS comes out to learn his fate. Borash asks Evan if he feels he did his best. Evan says no, because he lost. Borash notes that if there's a "no", they go to the "Kick Out" and give him a chance to plead his case. Isn't it funny that Kris Lewie was so wretchedly awful that they conveniently forgot this rule just for him? Taz admires Evan's desire and gives him a yes. Bruce Pritchard agrees that Evan has a great future ahead of him, but gives him a no. Borash gives Evan a chance to appeal to Al Snow. Evan tells Snow that he'll continue to get his ass handed to him and he'll keep coming back. Snow says Evan represents what Gut Check is about and that he has passion, but Snow says Evan's youth means he isn't ready, so he gives him a no. And that's it!

Here's a sneak peek at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! YIKES! They're CGI'd all to hell! Why do they look so blocky? I'll still give it a shot, but I have cautious optimism.

Let's shift over to the Aces & Eights Happy Fun Time Clubhouse! The hoods are taken off of Hogan and Sting. Bane tells them that the boss is on his way. Wait, are we finally going to get some ANSWERS tonight?

Ad break

Back at the Aces & Eights Happy Fun Time Clubhouse, we see the leader in a chair with his back turned and his voice also Bane'd out! He taunts Hogan and Sting, as Hogan demands to know who he is. Hogan wants to know where Park is. The Leader says they were having so much fun until Hogan banned them from the building. The Leader wants back in the Impact Zone, as he reveals a tied-and-gagged Joseph Park! The Leader wants Hulk to pick two of his best men to face two of the Aces' best men at Bound For Glory. Hulk volunteers himself and Sting. The Leader refuses that, saying it's not about Hogan. The Leader says that if they win, they get full Impact Zone access and if Hogan's guys win, the Aces go away. Hogan volunteers himself again, but The Leader again demands Hogan pick two other men. Hogan agrees to the terms. The Leader offers to release Park after the BFG match and assures that nothing will happen to him between now and then, as we see another of the Aces menacingly wield a lighter.

Man, that guy both looked and SOUNDED a lot like Eric Bischoff and I hope to God that's a red herring.

Backstage, Jeff Hardy and Austin Aries head to the ring for their match.

Ad break

Let's take a look at what we just saw!

Your hosts are Mike Tenay and Taz, recapping what we just saw. They run down the Bound For Glory card!

Backstage, James Storm offers up pain for Bobby Roode at Bound For Glory. He also tells King Mo just needs to raise his hand at the end of the fight. Sorry about your damn catchphrase.

BOBBY ROODE & BULLY RAY v. "THE CHARISMATIC ENIGMA" JEFF HARDY & AUSTIN ARIES
Ray pounds away on Jeff to start. Jeff hits armdrags to send Ray scurrying to the corner. Jeff tags Aries, as Ray mouths off to him before tagging Roode. Aries outwrestles him to start and catches Ray with a drop toehold. Aries takes a breather on the turnbuckles, Shawn Michaels-style! HA! The heels take umbrage to this, but turn around and eat a double clothesline from Jeff Hardy, who dances to celebrate! The heels exit to take us to our final ad break of the night.

We come back with Ray eating an elbow off a corner charge before Roode crotches Jeff on a Whisper In The Wind attempt. Ray takes a swipe at Aries, who ducks out. "LITTLE SON OF A BITCH!" Ray works over Jeff with a measured elbow for 2. Roode tags in and hits a kneedrop for 2. Jeff comes back with a jawbreaker and the Twist of Fate! Tags are made on both sides and Aries is a house of fire! Roode gets a cheap shot on Aries, which allows Ray to take him out from behind. Ray also knocks down Jeff for fun. Roode chucks Aries into the steel steps and tosses him back in. "I SHOULD BE THE WORLD CHAMPION! I BEAT YOU LAST WEEK!" Roode tags in and we get the double wishbone. Roode hits a backbreaker and stomps away. Ray tags in and hits a second-rope axehandle. Gorilla press gets 2. We hit the bear hug! Aries bites the forehead to break the hold and hits a low dropkick. Aries moves over to make the tag...and thinks better of it! Meanwhile, Ray makes the tag and Roode comes in and eats some lefts! Aries hits a second-rope elbow and, again, stares down Jeff! Aries knocks the heels down before he clamps LAST CHANCERY~! on Roode! Ray breaks the hold and Jeff runs right into the Hook 'Em Horns big boot! MOOOO! Ray measures Aries, but nails Roode by mistake! Aries nails Ray in the corner and hits Roode with the running corner dropkick before hitting one on Ray! Roode eats the suicide dive! Aries hits Ray with the missile dropkick! Aries AGAIN stares down Jeff, which allows Roode to nail him from behind! Paydirt is countered with the Brainbuster and Jeff tags himself in! Aries takes umbrage to this until Ray pulls him out. Meanwhile, Jeff hits the Swanton Bomb for the pin at about 15 minutes shown.

WINNERS: Jeff Hardy & Austin Aries - This was a strong TV main event and told a great story to build up the BFG main event.

Post-match, Aries gets in Jeff's face. Once again, the show ends with Aries and Jeff arguing. Closing credits are up and we're out!

Or ARE we?

We go outside the arena where the Aces & Eights are dropping off Hogan and Sting. They remove the hoods and Sting tries to strike before he's stopped by a SWITCHBLADE! Yikes! The Aces threaten to fry Joseph Park and they take off. Sting volunteers himself and yells at the Aces that he's bringing a partner.

FINAL THOUGHT

Ok, so we have slightly more movement on the Aces & Eights front. It's a given that they're winning at the PPV, but the intrigue lies in who gets picked for the match. We already know Sting, but let's see who he picks.

Oh, and is there any way that match DOESN'T end with Sting's partner turning on him? Because...you know...it's STING? In fact, whoever Sting's partner turns out to be, you can probably bet on him being the leader. (At least I hope that's the case, because I really don't want it to be Eric Bischoff.)

As for the rest of the show, the matches were pretty good, albeit short. The three-way was building to something good and so was Joe/Anderson. Fine TV main event tonight and the build for Aries/Hardy is going swimmingly.

Until next time!

Not a bad show, but there's been a little too much Hogan the last few weeks and the Aces and Eights stuff was hokey not Hogan visiting the Dungeon of Doom home base hokey, but still. The leader was clearly Bischoff as he had the same speech patterns and diction as Bischoff. We can only hope he won't be involved in the end, but I wouldn't be shocked if he was. I also wouldn't be surprised if Park or one of alter egos was involved. Garrett Bischoff being in contention for the TV title is pretty ridiculous and poor Magnus with all his potential being eliminated before Bischoff sucked too. The look Bischoff gave Hogan after being eliminated suggests he's turning heel soon and might eventually join the Aces and Eights. The triple threat match was pretty solid and it was nice to see Daniels not only win, but win clean. I hope he and Kaz hold onto the titles for a long time. Angle and Styles are totally wasted in the tag match and seem rudderless. I'd like to see them do something with them as singles wrestlers. The tv title match was eh, but at least the right person won. Anderson is used probably how he should be as a guy that will draw a pop, and does the job to higher upside guys. Tara has done a nice job as a heel, but she needs a stronger face to play off of. I'd turn Gail face and have them feud. Guessing Joey Ryan is Tara boyfriend from LA. Really liked the Roode-Aries backstage segment with Roode playing the devil on Aries' shoulder. King Mo as special ref to Roode-Storm does nothing for me and probably means Roode will be his first feud. Main event told a good story, but I really don't like Roode jobbing in that match as he's lost a lot of starch the last 3-4 months. All in all, not a bad show with good wrestling, but I'd like o see less Hogan and more X division. As far as who will be Stings partner I'm guessing either RVD or Bully Ray likely Ray and either way Sting will get turned on.

"Your two best guys against two of our guys", sounds a little too much like the nWo script again. The stakes even seem the same. Of course it looked like Uncle Eric, because it is Uncle Eric. He and Hogan just can't help themselves, this all they seem to know. The whole thing would be comical if if this rehashed nWo/Invasion storyline weren't going to ruin a pretty damn good wrestling show.

It is also nice to know nobody outside of the TNA universe seems to miss Joseph Park.

My guesses for Sting's partner are either Bully Ray or Abyss, and yes that person will turn.

That all aside the rest of the show was strong. Joe getting the TV Title is nice if it means Joe is going to wrestle every week on Impact. In the WWE world Mr Anderson would have gotten to the ropes even though he looked trapped. Nice extended choke out spot, I love unflashy submissions.

TNA is also doing a nice job booking around the title. Right now it looks like we are headed to a solid Main Event for BFG with a clean winner ... but *groan* now you have to worry about Aces and Eights.

In keeping with the Sons of Anarchy theme, Aces & Eights apparently has a crow eater. Joe should be given an Emmey for carrying Anderson through that match. I thought Ken would have a nice career in TNA, but he has looked bad for awhile. It had better not be Bischoff. I mean there are other choices out there that could be a hell of a lot better. I do expect Bully to be added to the BGF main event. Abyss turning on Sting would be interesting, but I'd rather see him pull a Kane 2000 where he returned and proceeded to beat the shit out of DX/Radicals to a massive pop. Abyss deserves that moment.

I am baffled by the career of Mister Anderson. He seemed to be elevated beyond his skills in the WWE and turfed after people got hurt around him (guilty or not). He popped up in TNA where he promo'd himself into white-hot popularity yet his push lasted as long as this sentence. And now he's lost all allure. Maybe he's just a good talker, and that's all he's destined to be.

I'm not sure he's even that. He just kept calling himself an asshole and acted obnoxious and the obnoxious fans at the Impactzone fell in love with chanting we're all assholes and he got over big. He has never said anything of substance and his ring work has always been weak. He has always been to me a more talented slightly less annoying version of Buff Bagwell.

The quasi-heel turn against Sting was bad. But the heel turn to join Immortal, and then turning face again a few weeks later hurt him a lot, IMO. I could always take him or leave him, but they really dropped the ball with him. He was never going to be the next big thing, but they missed out on a decent semi-main eventer with his terrible booking.

Yeah that was awful and really one of the last angles Russo ever booked. Sniff. I don't think Anderson is a main event caliber wrestler though. When is his contract up? Would love to see him being on the outs.

I preface this by saying I have a three-month-old and haven't watched much of this lately. But ...

To all the people saying "Sting's partner will turn," is there any chance that STING will be the one to turn? Hogan comes back and all of a sudden Sting loses the power ... might make him team up with Bischoff, perhaps? Or am I completely off base here?

History tells us Sting partners turn against him at a ratio of roughly 25-1.

What do I know? I still think Hardy is the one who turns.

Sting actually gave up his power because he wanted revenge on Bobby Roode and felt he could no longer remain objective and be the GM and pushed for Dixie to name Hogan as his replacement. Also, Sting was the first guy The Aces and Eights attacked three months ago. That lead to many people thinking Jeff Jarrett is behind the Aces and Eights because Sting fired Jarrett and also was the first inductee into TNA's Hall of Fame instead of Jarrett.

0% chance. As Sting himself pointed out last week, this whole angle started with him. If Russo was still around, I'd agree, but Russo don't live here no more.

Joe and Magnus have good chemistry. The part where Magnus botches opening the door and Joe tells him doors work differently in the States was tremendous. I look forward to them having a lengthy feud over the TV Title this fall. Anderson is and always will be the drizzilin' shits.

I actually liked the Knockouts match. Sure it was a squash until the fake injury and rollup but if Tara gets the title this match would be a nice precursor to a official ODB vs. Tara match down the line or a triple threat including Tessmacher.

The Main Event was great. Aries basically fought Bully and Roode by himself until Hardy stole his win at the end. Bully yelled lots, it was excellent.

THE ACES & EIGHTS STORYLINE NEEDS REVELATION. Seriously TNA needs to reveal the leader soon as this story is getting driven into the ground. Is there such a thing as too much intrigue?

A&8 is quickly heading into Black Scorpion territory. The longer an mystery angle goes, the better the surprise must be to satisfy fans. At this point it is gonna have to be something that is gonna be difficult for them to pull of for it to be worth it. Like "Shane McMahon is the Leader" big.

I've read a ton of theories and the one consensus is that NOBODY wants it to be Bischoff.

Personally, I'd like it to be a collection of ex-TNA wrestlers who lost their jobs when the "Big Names" came in.

I agree that Stings partner is gonna be either Bully or Park/Abyss, I'm cool with either because you could go a couple ways with either guy.

And what about Tara's boyfriend? For some reason I thought Johnny Fairplay.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here, but, let me guess.

Sting's partner is Abyss who doesn't come out until mid-match and then proceeds to leg drop Sting and join Aces and Eights.

Then, a month later, Eric Bischoff shocks the world when he is revealed to be a member leading up to a series of "Aces and Eights" branded PPV's where they "take over" the show with referees that are biased in their favour.

By no means do I want it to be Bischoff, but it wouldn't really bother me, per se. At least Bischoff doesn't wrestle and he's a good enough heel mouthpiece. And him being behind it makes sense, especially if Bully Ray is involved, since he was the last man standing with Bischoff and Immortal (well, there was Gunner, but, really...it's Gunner).

I agree that it sounded like Bischoff, but I don't think that necessarily means it'll -be- him. They seem to have had various different people play parts already, under masks, and it would be smart to have different people do it precisely because it keeps the fans guessing. While it does seem to be a main angle focus, I'm pretty happy with a lot of the other stuff (Joe as TV champ, Aries as world champ, the Roode/Storm feud, watching Taryn Terrell bounce around in a ref's outfit) that I won't be too bothered if it isn't a great payoff.

That's assuming Hogan keeps his word ... and that's assuming a lot. I see Raven as a backup plan if/when Hogan pulls out the next time.
