I'm psyched to see Punk vs Foley in Hell in the Cell ... oh it's Punk vs Cena, eh?

Caught the first Kane/Bryan segment. I'm done with this.

I liked Miz vs Ryback. It wasn't Raven vs Goldberg and it probably would have gotten a better reaction if not for the fan run in, or was that a member of The Flock having a flashback? The IC Title should have been on the line.

Del Rio should get props for carrying such a feeble team for so long.

I didn't know heart attacks turn people orange.

Hooray for the return of The Gong Show, or I mean Big Show. Hopefully, he just punched those two crappy show clogging gimmicks back to wherever they came from.

Cena/Punk blah blah blah, lead pipe buffoonery. I like Punk busting out all the oldschool cheap heat tricks in the book. He really needs Bobby Heenan and not Paul Heyman.

That's all I got. The football game took away most my attention. 8 freaking sacks in the first half was amazing.

Edit: .. and I forgot the damn RAW icon. Amature.

The official team name the "WWE Universe" decided on for Hell No is...Team Hell No.

We really need to consider trademarking our ideas.

So no one saw the end of the show where Punk came face to face with The Ryback? Would they actually send The Ryback in the Hell in a Cell against Punk?

Best moment of RAW was Punk heeling that little kid and keeping his hand too far for him to shake while on his way to the ring to confront Cena.

Second best moment was Heyman proposing to AJ. Third proposal in the last two months, second proposal to AJ, all three proposals involved AJ. That has to go into the WWE record books somewhere.

Third best was the Harry Met Sally double orgasm in the diner with Team Hell No. I half suspect AJ's secret long term revenge plan is to get Kane and Daniel to sleep together somehow. If this were the Attitude Era, definitely. As it is, there's some non-PG stuff going on in this storyline.

Kaitlyn came out with a bizarre accusatory tone against Eve when the woman who attacked her was blonde. Eve blaming it all on Beth was ingenious. I mean, Eve is clearly not blonde. Beth is. The evidence fits!

I immediately thought of Weinerboard when they mentioned naming my boy D-Bry and Kane's tag team. I flipped out seeing "Team Hell No" was an option.

I didn't notice that there was a gatejumper during the Miz/Ryback match since I had it on in the background while doing other things. I did notice the booming silence to Punk turning around and seeing poor man's Goldberg next to crumpled up Foley however.

Kofi and Dolph had an excellent match chock full of springboard crossbody spots.

I get the feeling that CM Punk's current story isn't so much a forced heel turn for the sake of having a heel vs. face main event dynamic but a story of a disillusioned champ trying to put value into having the Championship belt rather than in himself as a man. Cena and especially Foley tonight keep bringing up the fact that when Punk had nothing to lose or gain as he was on his way out, and that he was more passionate then than he is a year later as a complacent champion.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this (it is bordering on fantasy booking) but I think his heel turn is adding layers to an overall theme of becoming legendary by your deeds rather than your words and learning to accept oneself. Much like how Cena had to stop looking at Rock as better than him and started looking at him as the enemy at Wrestlemania, this is CM Punk's story of coming full circle since his return from walking out as champion a year ago.

SOooooo that's how they are gonna handle Beth Pheonix departure huh? They didn't even bother trying to put some grainy footage together showing Beth attack Kaitlyn at NOC. Then Eve just attacks her?! Ok whatever, FUTURE ENDEAVORED!

That was one of the worst crowds I've (not) heard in years, I was even feeling sorry for Cena not getting a whole lot of heat (one way and/or the other) in that main event interview. Punk didn't fair much better.

I was rolling my eyes at the 'Harry Met Sally' bit, but got floored when the reveal was Mae Young, not the old woman shown in the previous vignette. For my money, this angle continues to be the best thing on WWE today. Cole was even mumbling #TeamHellNo under his breath when they listed the poll choices - how did "Hell No" get in there in the first place, that can't be PG, can it?

For not being a color commentator, JR is now the best color commentator WWE has not named JBL. (I haven't really heard Regal enough to rank him.)

I guess there's a PPV between now and HitC? Punk vs The Ryback??

Given how Punk has taken to giving throwback tributes to stars of the past, I'm not sure I like the idea of Foley showing up to talk smack at Punk leading up to a cell match.

Ok, caught up with the rest of the show on DVR.

Where has THIS Mick Foley been? After dreading his last few guest spots, Mick just knocked that promo out of the park! I guess he's still got a few gems left. That was the kind of promo that Cena/Rock desperately needed, not another "This Is Your Life" rehash!

That ending promo was wrong for so many reasons. That was an 80/20 crowd split in favor of the Cena haters, giving him absolutely nothing! Not even a token pop for "Fight against breast cancer!" Punk's intimidation promo and reasoning for denying Cena (Seriously, how many shots IS Cena going to get?) worked pretty well, but once Cena pulled out the plastic baton, it was all downhill from there.

The extracurriculars more than made up for it, though. Mick selling a beating would have been enough, but Punk's reaction and the slow reveal of Ryback were both perfect! Ryback is definitely going to be on the losing end of whatever Raw match he gets with Punk, but Punk's going to make him look great (and get himself a credibility boost in the process). A win-win for both sides!

Did we really need a token Big Show walk-on so that he could kill Brodus again? Hasn't he done enough damage to the poor guy?

As much as I'm enjoying The E taking our "Hell No" name for the former Team Friendship, I also have to give a thousand thumbs up to Cody Rhodes for that KICK-ASS team name. Rhodes Scholars is just genius! At this point, coming up with tag team names is almost as much fun as watching the actual tag teams.

Kaitlyn's only proof of her attacker is that she saw blond hair? That could be anybody! Hell, it doesn't even have to be a woman! She's the anti-Batman. Worst detective ever!

As much as I don't like the GM role for AJ, I'm more than willing to overlook everything if she keeps sauntering onto my TV with those shorts. RAWR!

So what I took from tonight's show is that CM Punk has turned into a monkey frankin' ship sinkin' son of a beesting that better get his goldarn crap happy doggie bath straightened away before Cena chin checks it.

Also, I made a terrible mistake watching the NFL instead of RAW.

I got to see the Punk/Foley promo which was excellent. Yet, it did feel a bit flat when Foley was going on about Heyman and Punk said is there anything else and Mick just looked at him then went on to Cena. I think the beauty of any great heel is there is a ring of truth to what he says. Punk has gone from a ring of truth to the bells of St. Mary's. Pointing out Cena has gotten a crap load of title shots to using Cena's own words against him in the respect department to Foley being there to plug a book. I think part of the reason, Cena is getting no reaction in this feud is Punk is hitting on the truth and even the kiddie fans are starting to notice it. I say run with Ryback at Hell in a Cell and see how it goes. Of course, I could live to regret those words if he damages Punk beyond belief.

Good to see King back. I would buy a Kane/Bryan two pack if one of the accessories was a name tag that said Gerald and an apron. So, its up to Kaitlyn and Even to save the women's division. Yep, its doomed. I see nothing in the Prime Team Players besides their little dance that would put them off a tag team made of awesome in Santino and Ryder especially in that ridiculous short amount of time.

What's more of a heel move than bringing a lead pipe to the ring hidden inside your sling? That might be even more of a heel tactic than Every Old School Heel Move In The Book that Punk was throwing out there last night. (Also Heyman was running a gamut of Evil Facial Expressions behind Punk while fondling the WWE Title during the Main Event Interview.)

Maaan Lawler was ORANGE...it was such a distraction, he looked like a living pumpkin. I'm sure he was a little "pale" by WWE TV standards after his hospitalization but he just went way too far in the other direction. I couldn't even pay attention to what he was saying...

The Internet is naming ALL the WWE's tag teams! Rhodes Scholar was first coined by With Leather's Brandon Stroud the very first night they tagged and he's been pushing for it on Twitter/his column in recent weeks. My fiancee & I popped when Cody actually said it!

I know not everyone is digging it, but I'm still enjoying Hell No's wacky comedy.

The Ryback beats the IC Champ (shouldn't that get him a title shot at least?) and immediately moves on to staring down the WWE Champ?

Thanks for figuring out what Cena said. I was too busy rolling my eyes. He was doing alright with his promo until that bit. That was just horrible.

I know it's easy booking, just throwing 2 guys together and calling them a team, but the tag division suddenly really does have an overflow of goodness.
I feel almost bad for the real teams (Usos, Colons) who have to take a backseat to the suddenly created teams like Team Friendshi--hell no, rhodes scholars, sin mysterio.

The Kofi/Ziggler match was fun to watch. So much flipping and selling and fun.

Ryback facing the Miz..whatever. Ryback facing Punk? Ugh no.
Though I do appreciate that he came to protect Mick who sold that one kick (to the knee?) like a bullet to the head.

Foley's promo was good. Almost old school. And everything he said made sense. To the point where Punk was left pondering about his words at the end. Of course, leave it to Punk to point out the truths as well, such as the book. Nice way of plugging it without having Foley bring it up.

When Kane met Bryan was funny but not as good as "I'm not Kane, I'm Gerald " (or whatever the spelling was)
"I put his goat face in the deep fryer and chopped it up and put it in all the meals this morning" Aaaah classic Kane

Once again, WWE pushes someone new into the ME, which is what everyone's been begging for, and the response is "no, not THAT guy! Someone WE like!"

The Ryback push is working. And for all this "oh noes he's going to cripple someone" stuff, has he actually hurt anyone before?

Good show, possibly the best since Raw 1000. Holy cow, there's a tag team division.

This all better lead to a Heyman/Foley confrontation.

Put the title on Ryback at HITC. Really. Go ahead. Have him carry it until Rock challenges. Fine. It'll be different. It'll mean Cena/Punk will have to have a new motivation. It'll mean someone new in the title picture. Good. Please. Anything.

Punk should get employee of the year for making the Cena feud interesting because Cena and his one note have become a drone. He has no edge to his current station as the poster boy of the WWE. He's gotta be vanilla. He can do more. We'd love to see more. But he's stuck. I don't even mean turn him heel. But give him a chance to try something different. New catchphrase. New moves. SOMETHING.

That Ryback/Miz powerbomb spot was NICE.

R-Truth in a suit. Good look for him.

Cena cashed his his MITB. Does Ziggler still have to only go after the Smackdown champ?

That wasn't a heel move. A heel move would've been Cena attacking Punk from behind with the pipe. He brought it solely for protection, knowing he's at a severe disadvantage due to only having 1 arm, and only used it when Punk tried to attack him.

The problem is they're taking a guy who's been squashing Superstars level guys and rocketing him into a ME spot. There's the danger that the crowd feels he's not ready, or is getting there too soon, which is only going to hurt Ryback if (when?) the fans don't buy into him as a ME'er. I don't think anyone would have a problem w/ him if he already went through the midcard on his way to the ME, but I can see how the WWE is kinda in a jam w/ Cena being out of commission & a need to keep Punk involved w/ a program, so they're going to need to be careful how they handle it, lest they destroy whatever momentum they've managed to build with Ryback. So, in short, it's not "no, not THAT guy", it's "are you sure that guy is ready yet?".

I dunno, Cena's been p. awesome in this feud, mainly because he's dropped 99% of the jokey/kiddie stuff and has been dead serious in his promos (and has really been doing that since the Rock feud). People had been begging him to do that for ages, so he finally does and people are still complaining?

It seems appropriate, given how tone deaf WWE is to what people want that, they open their show with a "feel bad for the overmatched replacement ref who accidentally screwed over the champion" spot the night the NFL runs the all-time "evil replacement refs accidentally screw over the champions" angle to massive heat.

Punk is an amazing heel. It's in the guy's blood, and it's neat to seem him work through multiple styles of heeldom in the same show without really losing the center of his character, just as its kinda great to see him breaking out all the heat-garnering ploys he used to do. That shot of him staring down the little kid on the way to the ring was priceless.

But man, I don't know that I can keep watching this. Cena, in the current form they're presenting him, is that unappealing to me. When you have a guy like Punk working every possible angle to get people to cheer Cena over him and then let a guy like Cena preface his promo with a "Now, before we start, let me remind you that booing me is essentially cheering cancer" note and it still doesn't fully take, something's wrong. And, as others have said, a big part of it is the approach. There were so, so many moments in that show where Punk complained about something - AJ is crazy, the ref screwed up, Foley is a shameless shill (though, yeah, him getting fired up and mentioning how short his reigns were was the most I've appreciated anything he's done in about a decade), Cena gets repeated title shots despite losing and keeps playing the "You haven't proven yourself...yet!" card, Cena willingly antagonizes people knowing he's got a lead pipe hidden on him to beat them with - where Punk's got enough rationale that they only compound the "we want people to boo the guy they want to cheer and cheer the guy they want to boo" problem.

It's really getting hard to keep wanting to watch it, given that they surely know what the problem is without any sign that they're going to do anything about it. Just astonishing amounts of resources (time, effort, talent and money) being expended to turn the huge reactions two talented guys were getting into muted, confused reactions for both of them.

The only far-flung, fantasy booking hope I see, as a viewer, is that Cena's weird "WWE is showing no compassion for my injury" sidebars are less an attempt to give Cena the iconoclast, anti-company man angle that belongs to Punk (becasue, god, the only way to make this worse is to try to sell son-of-a-bee-sting Cena as a rebel) and more teasing out an angle where he gets hurt worse in the Cell and really goes off on the company. Because honestly, even if you are enjoying this angle, tell me you wouldn't be jealous of whatever alternate universe is getting the amazing "John Cena aligns with Paul Heyman" angle that we're not getting?

Anyway! Sheamus stinks too (as a character, not a performer), Barrett should have taken out Show if Show was going to be gone for a few weeks and is still doing a punchout gimmick, Punk selling crazed fear on Ryback was genuinely kinda cool and unexpected and now we know that Little Jimmy is either imaginry or invisible put has terrible bladder control issues.

Some notes about The Ryback;

- Last night's crowd was dead, not a good indicator of overall heat. He's been getting good reactions plus chants on live TV, and not just Goldberg chants.

- He has had some gradual competition. Swagger, the Miz.

- I don't think there's any "oh shit, there's trouble" monster faces on the roster, except for Undertaker (part time) and maybe Kane if Hell No are considered faces.

- Everyone was hot-to-trot when he was rolling with Nexus. Nothing has changed since then except his ring gear and a new finisher.

- He has two distinct moves; the "Knock The Piss Out of You Lariat" and Shellshocked. The Lariat especially looks impressive.

- The old school approach of feeding him jobbers seems to be working, as his huge power moves have gotten over. Also, the use of swarmy jobbers helped.

- Gradually tweaking the appearance. Lyrics, pyro. And even little things that happened when he first came out like "from Sin City" instead of saying "from Vegas".

With any other crowd, I'm thinking a pop happens at the end of the show. I approve of The Ryback.

OTHER RAW NOTES:

- Cody Rhodes has a huge future in this business. And pairing him with Sandow works to help the tag division, and can also help him turn face when the team breaks up.

- Speaking of the tag division, I recall reading some place back a bit ago that Triple H is in favor of the tag division. Perhaps we can expect more of this? Also, the right team went over too, IMHO. Primetime Players are an actual team, Santino and Ryder and two singles guys who sometimes team.

- Kaitlyn is incredibly attractive. Seriously, I don't usually make a point of mentioning stuff like that, but she's (IMHO) the most attractive woman on the roster.

- Cena's act is getting old, but I agree with Spiff that the pipe thing made sense.

- Punk is Punk, Bryan is Bryan, and I really wouldn't mind seeing Ryder vs Miz.

His serious voice is like Lawler's serious voice: It means what we watch 90% of the time is fake, but THIS is real. It's part of his shtick, and his schtick is old. I endorse new schtick.

I can't argue against Cena chasing the title. Even he says oncamera he gets to do it constantly because he's Cena. They've done very little in Punk's reign to develop a title contender (Ziggler's shot was at the Rumble), and Cena is the top face by miles. Last night's PG rant is no different than his playground insult trade with Rock: Old hat. New hat please.

Ditto, and pretty certain the pony of up money for the concepts & reselling them to the WWE probably would be worth the intellectual copyright & trade marking alone. Then again they'd probably just sue. Pretty sure the we don't have big time lawyers around here do we?

Overall enjoyed what I saw, nothing screamed terrible but I agree with a previous post. WHERE HAS THAT Mick Foley been, holy smokes.

Ryback, I agree with whom ever said it should have been for the title.

They may actually be caring about the tag team division again which has been on the works for how long?

I'm starting to think some of the football you all have been watching may have better story line at the moment. It's a work! Touception!

So they're going to just give Beth the shaft out, nice WWE. Typical.

Anger management continues to carry this program in so many different way & levels.

Anyone notice Alica Fox seems to be interchangeable at the moment?

May be they'll just throw Sara Del Ray into the division since so many have departed.

Ok, Big Show... because he can. Alright.

Pleased until next week.

Hmmm. Yessss.

I need to meet with Dr. Shelby bad. (As soon as he dry cleans his puke-covered pants.)

By the way, Carlito is one of my favorite wrestlers to follow on Twitter. The guy is a funny asshole. Plus he's got this running joke going for weeks that he's no longer a technical wrestler and he's now a "Body Guy" (like Chris Masters) who does power moves and gets blown up 2 minutes into each match. Most everything he tweets is a Body Guy joke. This one legit made me LOL last night:
