With HIMYM seemingly going into its last season, this would seem to be a perfect spot for Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill.
Also, more than a few SHIELD agents went on to be superheroes themselves --- Falcon, Ms. Marvel, Mockingbird, Quasar, etc. Wouldn't be a surprise to see them involved as characters on the show only to be "promoted" to Avengers in future movies.

Anyone, but Ms. Marvel. If Ant Man wasn't in the workings, him and Wasp would be my two big picks. Falcon is already rumored to be in Cap. I am going with a bunch of nameless characters and maybe Dum Dum as a bone to the fanboys. A Sam Jackson cameo to start. The question is who will be the villains? The Skrulls? The Kree? The aliens from the movie or maybe some legit super villains like the Wrecking Crew? Either way, I am psyched.

It would make perfect sense to not put the focus on the costumes, but more of a spy series that occassionally makes references to heroes. There's a whole universe to explore where not everyone wears big bright suits all day long. I'd much rather see that then super heroes and villains flying around all the time.
I think this concept could work if they promote it properly. Having Maria Hill in it would help as that could be your pin to the movies. Or maybe Agent Coulson making a few cameos? (His death can be circumvented if you make it set in the past..or introduce LMDs)
I feel like this could work as something link Fringe, where maybe human shield agents have mysteries/problems to solve every week, but call people in from time to time for help. I could see Sam doing something like William Bell's roll (although maybe showing up a little more often than spock has.

Don't know where you heard HIMYM is ending, I never heard that.
I agree. I listen to Tami Sagher on the Steve Dahl show weekly and she said this wasn't the last season a couple weeks ago.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.

I recall that Chi McBride's playing Nick Fury in the animated Ultimate Spider-Man. Admittedly, I only saw the first episode, but I thought he was pretty good. If the weight disparity wasn't so great, I'd lobby for him to take the Fury mantle for this show.
Sooooooo...

We're going to learn that the Coulson that died in the Avengers was a Life-Model Decoy and Clark Gregg is going to star in this series...right?
Ah geez, they're doing a NINTH season? Despite the fact that the story is already two years too drawn-out as it is, and the fact that Segal/Radnor/NPH have all hinted/outright said that they're ready to move onto other things?

They might be ready to move onto other things, but it sure is hard to turn down good money, isn't it?
Personally I feel like they've been taking it in a little different direction, and I can easily see them doing a couple more. They've just started hitting their stride with the tear-jerkers a year and a half ago.
I like the show, but the reality is they are past their shelf life. Also its starting to get like Buffy where I can't stand the main character anymore and I just care about the supporting cast. I care more about Barney's stripper girlfriend than I do Ted every finding someone. If anything I expect if Disney wanted Cobie to be on the show, they will get her on the show.
The other question is how many former Wheedon alumni will be on the show. Fillion being on the ABC has to count for something. Early round picks say either Summer or Eliza for the lead female role and Walsh or Xander for the comedy character turned hard ass. As for comedy relief, I am going with SMG as the nerdy tech girl.

Actually, I'm not usually too fond of casting Whedon's usual suspects, but Fillion would be a heck of a choice if they wanted to use Clay Quartermain on the show.

Those are some unique kids, sitting down and listening to their dad tell the SAME STORY OVER AND OVER again for the last nine years.
You'd think, by now, they'd be screaming for him to shut up so they can move on with their lives.

They've moved on by making a documentary about a paper company in Pennsylvania.

Chuck and Life did get full season orders. What that means in the current climate is anyone's guess. But Chuck has two more episodes completed. I guess they're just being saved so NBC has something to air after the new year.
