So, are the Dodgers nuts, because ESPN is saying Click Here (espn.go.com) that the Dodgers are in talks to acquire Adrian Gonzales, Josh Beckett AND Carl Crawford for parts and pieces. Even if the Sox let these guys go it seems like a huge win for them. Why not reboot a team that seems like a bunch of overpaid jerks? As for the Dodgers I can see them interested in Gonzales, but the other two as well?

The Dodgers' starting pitching is actually not that good. Kershaw's the best pitcher in the league, but Chad Billingsley has always been a "feast or famine" type and Ted Lilly's still out for the rest of the year. Beyond those guys, it's a bunch of scraps. So really, Beckett can't make the rotation that much worse. There are much worse ideas than taking a flyer on a guy in a terrible situation. It might turn out that Beckett needs a change of scenery.

I have no clue what they do with Crawford, because I can't see Kemp or Ethier moving out of the way to make room for him. I also believe this would spell the end of the Shane Victorino experiment and cements him as a three-month rental.

Kemp stays in CF, right? Isn't that his desire?

As for the trade, I seriously don't know how to feel about it from Boston's perspective. Sure, this clears a shitload of salary, on top of everything they're saving with other expiring deals (Dice-K, Ortiz, Jenks, Ross) and traded players (Youkilis), but what are they going to do with the money? This deal sends Boston's three biggest contracts to Chavez Ravine, and of the 10 biggest contracts at the beginning of the season, precisely three of those players (Lackey, Pedroia, Lester) are under contract for next season. I'm not sure who's going to be out there in free agency offhand that'll be an improvement over what they had.

Gonzalez is a good pickup for LA and even so is Beckett, getting him out of Boston and back to the National League. But why would any team want Carl Crawford at this point? Maybe the Sox are insisting that if the Dodgers take the first two, they have to get Crawford as well.

Dodgers will need someone in left until Crawford recovers from Tommy John, which he just had like two days ago.

As a Dodger fan, I'm...happy? Confused? I don't know, it's still weird to see this organization going all Brewster's Millions.

I'm kind of bummed to lose Rubby de la Rosa. I really dug him.

I as a Sox fan am totally dumbfounded that the dodgers would go for this. I can see the long term potential for them but at the same time i'm all "WTF just happened here?"

People aren't even discussing this in the Boston area. Its just such a shock that no one really knows how to react.

Also, im almost equally as shocked to see Gonzo wearing a mickey mouse shit in public. It bothers me more than the trade. I dunno why.

Galarraga's reaction was absolutely priceless. The *real* loser here, of course, is Joe West. He WISHES he could have had this attention. Would've trumped the two balks against Buehrle.
