We had a Linksys WRT310N for a couple of years, but it bit the dust a couple of months ago. No amount of rebooting would fix it.

So, in a hurry, I bought a new Belkin router. It was awful, needing to reboot several times a day. I tried upgrading firmware, changing all sorts of settings to no avail. It went back and I exchanged it for a Linksys E900.

That seemed to do the trick, no rebooting, reliable performance. Until this week. I've had to reboot it twice in 3 days, I don't see anything odd in the settings, no loose plugs, etc...

Before I get too far into settings and firmware changes, does anyone have any thoughts?

I have Roadrunner service, 2 PC's, 2 laptops, and various devices using the WiFi with various combinations of Windows XP, Vista & 7.

Is it possible I just have had bad luck with two routers in a row?

It's the outlet that it is plugged into. Are you plugging directly into the wall or a surge protector?

Plugged into a powerstrip...but it may not be the best quality. That's a cheap fix to try, I'll go and get a new one with a little better specs.

I'll try that first and report back. Thanks!

One important thing to do is to stay smarter than the 13 year-old. I taught kids that age, and they are surprisingly good at getting around the restricting software.
