-What the hell is Downtown Abbey and why is it taking nominations from GoT and Breaking Bad?

And it's addicting as hell for reasons I still do not understand. It's like trying to explain to someone that watching paint dry is REALLY entertaining.
The continued snub of Nick Offerman is annoying - especially considering the 4 noms for Modern Family in the Supporting Actor category (and Bill Hader is swell and all, but "REALLY??!? With Seth and Amy").
Downton Abbey was one of those shows that I had absolutely no interest in watching. Once I finally did, after the urging of numerous friends, I couldn't get enough of it. It really deserves the multiple nominations.
I like Modern Family a lot. It makes me laugh on a consistent basis. However, having the whole cast nominated is a bit laughable. ESPECIALLY since Nick Offerman was snubbed yet again for his work as Ron Swanson.
Best surprise for me? Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman getting nominated for Sherlock. That series is so so so so so good.
Am I in Horseville? Because I'm hearing nothing but naysayers!
I guess Game of Thrones took the genre spot that Walking Dead could have had. I understand the hard on for Breaking Bad and Downtown Abby. No celebrity on twitter will shut up about Downtown, so you figured that would get a spot. I will never understand the love for Mad Man, Broadwalk Emprie, yes. Mad Man? No.
The biggest crime as usually as Katey Sagal in Sons. Kathy Bates and Julain Marguiles. Please. She is the best actress with the best role out there and it gets ignored as does the entire show. Also no Young Justice for animated? Bah.
The Wee Baby Sheamus.Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.
I am glad I am not the only one who doesn't get the drooling obsession with Mad Men. I watched the first five or so episodes on Netflix because it's all everybody talked a out, and honestly, I could not find a single thing (other than the redhead with big boobs) enjoyable on that show.
Also, wasn't American Horror Story pretty much shit on, or did it get better after the second unwatchable episode?
Sins of Anarchy being snubbed is a crime. Other than Breaking Bad, its my favorite drama on TV. Makes me think they just threw AHS all the bones and left the rest of the FX dramas alone and not even considered them. How else does Walton Coggins not get a nod for supporting actor?

Predicting Downton Abbey sweep here, but really pulling for Homeland sweep. Oh shit, I need to watch Season 4 of Damages!
It is astonishing to me how bad the comedy nominees are every year when the drama ones are generally pretty spot-on. (Save for the incessant and inexplicable annual Katey Segal snub.)

To be honest I had an extremely hard time getting into Mad Men, and I was stuck at about episode 6/7 in the first season for the longest time. Everyone kept telling me how good it got and how slow the beginning was so I gave it another try and the show really does get quite good. The episode called "The Suitcase" in the fourth season is easily the best acted episode of a tv show I've ever seen. It hits hard.

I am stunned and delighted to see Idris Elba get some love for Luther. I didn't even realise it made an impression in the States. A brilliantly, proudly balls-out crazy show that's hugely entertaining and in which Elba is by far the outstanding component. Best post-Wire thing Stringer Bell's done since that time he looked after a rainbow bridge for some gods.

Danes surely has to win at least one for Homeland? She was phenomenal and I can't see it winning nothing.
PS - I reiterate my support for the Mad Men Sux camp.

But half the nominees are from HBO. And the two best comedies are on network and weren't nominated.
God I hate Girls btw
Life is To Short is better than anything nominated.
I think it's pretty up and down (SHORT!), but it should've cleaned up the guest stars category. Plus Warwick could be best actor as part of last year's "OMG we gave it to a little person and a fat lady how interesting" self-congratulation.

Didn't he fuck Charlize Theron with an accordion
Luther is at least 30% greater than fucking Charlize Theron with an accordion. Basic statistics, sir.

Yeah that's pretty much all I got from it. The only positive thoughts I had on the show were "man, you forget how different the world must've been back then" and "Oh, he was Connor in Angel. That's where I know him from." But these thoughts came and went inside the first episode.
If Mad Men is a brilliantly accurate recreation of the 50s I can only conclude the 50s were really bloody boring.

I would love to see those shows.
lotjx 's other job is writing copy for Chinese bootleg DVD covers.
A lot of the reaction I've seen seems to be centering on "OMG! All the dramas are from CABLE!", completely disregarding the fact that PBS is a broadcast network.
This thread shows just how fractured TV viewing has truly become in 2012. (Isn't it nice we can all agree to watch RAW?) Mad Men is one of my favorite shows for the record yet I've never seen a minute of Sons Of Anarchy and am always surprised how much love it gets on The W.
It's still ridiculous Nick Offerman was overlooked so the voters could cram every single person on Modern Family in there. I'm surprised they didn't nominate each of Sofia Vergara's boobs so Modern Family could take up 2 nods in that category too. (Where's Aubrey Plaza?)
And I'm sure there's plenty of Internet outrage to go around for the snubbing of Community but...ONE nomination? Really?
Nice to see Bill Hader get nominated, even if SNL cast members in that category feels weird.
And for the record, I've never seen The Wire, so Idris Elba will forever be Charles Miner to me, kicking soccer balls at Jim Halpert.
Flash & Arrow are both on CW. However CW is jointly owned by CBS & Warner Bros...so? With Greg Berlanti involved, it would be a possibility I suppose...but I think they may see how Supergirl fares before that would happen.
