Well, the Timberwolves' game of chicken with the Blazers over Nicolas Batum has culminated in:This, after a "come to Jesus" meeting earlier today for Batum and his agent where the Blazers were rather insistent that they would match any offer and that he would like it.

Meanwhile, Houston wants Jeremy Lin back:...but those who know say the Knicks matching is all but certain.

Here's some older ones I don't think we've discussed yet. Landry Fields:
This was part of an attempt to scuttle the Nash deal, but didn't work. (Did I read that correctly?)

Eric Gordon: (but the Hornets are thinking sign-and-trade)

And things were all kicked off with this overpayment for Omer Asik:
Who ends up where? We'll know by the 14th.

The lockout accomplished NOTHING!

A little surprised the Knicks are letting Fields go, he's one of, scratch that, he's the one Knick that I actually like.

And a fellow Pacer fan friend of mine on Facebook says that Portland's planning to offer a max deal to Pacers RFA All-Star center Roy Hibbert. (He proceeded to say that the Blazers do this kind of thing all the time-- deliberately jacking up prices and making other teams overspend).

If I'm Hibbert, I'd be scared to sign the offer sheet on the fear the Pacers don't match. Blazers + centers has been ugly the last 35 years.

No way I'd want Fields back at that price. The best part of his game is slashing to the hoop and rebounding, but his free throw shooting was so terrible last year that he stopped slashing so he wouldn't get fouled and the guy has no jump shot to speak of.

He's a nice 8th man off the bench, but not at that price.

I loved Linsanity, but that is also a lot of money for a guy who has played only 25 games. The Knicks probably make that up in Lin hoopla though.

Lin is extremely turnover-prone, too, something I think went seriously under-reported during the winning streak.

Are you kidding me? Sportscenter aired Jeremy Lin turnover count video packages after every other Knicks game. After a few of his 8 TO performances they started highlighting his turnover stats in the halftime graphics. The TNT guys talked about it all the time. It was all over ESPN Radio in several markets too.

It was only under-reported if you get all your basketball news from Us Weekly.

That turnover rate is not unexpected in a second year player who basically didn't play his first year. That he was making (rookie) mistakes wasn't surprising.
