I'm going to be in my first pro-wrestling match at the end of the month. I'm quite excited.
Little backstory...every year I put on an all day long music festival at a local bar. Two years ago I thought it would be fun to have some live pro-wrestling at the event because I'm friends with a bunch of guys who do a lot of local indy stuff. The day works like this: a band plays and when the band is tearing down and the next band is setting up, the guys put on a match or two to help keep things moving along through the day and there's always something interesting going on.
Anyway, two years ago when this started, the main heels interrupted my band's set to establish the main event for later on that evening. I got involved in the match hitting the main heel with my tamborine costing them the match. Then last year the same guys were involved. The guy I hit with my tamborine started a beat down on one of the main faces, and I did a surprise run-in saving him and hitting the guy with (a very bad) stunner.
So, with two years of build up at the last two events, he and I are having a one-on-one match this year. It's going to be a dream come true for me to be in a ring and bumping and doing a match and I can't wait.
FYI - If anybody is familiar with the Flint/Detroit indy scene, the guy I'm wrestling is "The Mad Dragon" Hakim Zane. He's been in a few pretty high profile local stuff recently involving Rhino, Tracy Smothers, Little Guido, and Petey Williams. He also just had a match a few weeks back with Sabu. He's doing pretty well for himself, it seems, and he's set up what should be a really fun match. I'll be sure to post video of it when I have it, should anybody be interested. I am in horrible shape and am in no way a real wrestler. He will be guiding me ever so gently through this and I will owe him big when it's all said and done. He's set up a good match hiding my weaknesses while still being entertaining and telling a good story. SO EXCITED!
The date is Saturday, June 30 at White's Bar in Saginaw, MI. Lots of great local bands all day, pro-wrestling matches, BBQ from a great local BBQ joint, and a stand-up comedy side stage. Everybody should come :)
The wife and I found a house that we are thinking about buying. It's been updated/remodeled in the past few years, but there is still some stuff left that needs to be finished up. As you can see in the virtual tour, (Click Here (homesight.net))
