So now that Novak Djokovic has dusted off Roger Federer and reached the French Open Men's Final, that sets up a couple of pretty good and potentially historic match-ups for the weekend.
- Saturday Maria Sharapova goes for the "Career Grand Slam" against Sara Errani of Italy, who is seeded 21st and is exactly the kind of player who ends up pulling a Grand Slam-shocker on the red clay.
- And Sunday all kinds of history is on the line for Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. Djoker can pull off the Tiger Slam, which both Federer and Nadal both had chances at and failed to accomplish. Meanwhile, Rafa can pass Bjorn Borg with his seventh French Open title with a win, and Rafa has looked fairly unstoppable in the tournament, having won 54 straight sets on red clay and not having his serve broken in 65 games.
I kind of like Errani to pull the upset and I would bet just about everything I have on Rafa.

Kornheiser and Wilbon embarrassed themselves on PTI the other day when they were saying how Sharapova winning the career Grand Slam isn't a big deal because "those would be her only four majors." Seriously? Only 16 players EVER have won a career grand slam and it isn't a big deal?! Sharapova can pull off what Venus, Hingis, Borg, McEnroe, Connors, Sampras, Cawley, Seles, Lendl and scores of other top pros couldn't, but "who cares"?
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball
