For those of us who don't like to get eaten alive by mosquitoes to see fireworks, we were blessed by a pleasently entertaining Smackdown!. Yep, I liked the show.

The tag title match had a hot crowd and the action was pretty steady. And the main event was a good affair, too, although the ending was messed up (although I'm sure they're going somewhere with it; to quote Tazz "The undisputed title is in dispute!").

But, man, did that arena look half-empty or what? Oh, and the ugly part of the night - John Cena's trunks; nasty green!

What did The Great Thomas think of SmackDown? Here goes:

Team Canada: I KNEW they were gonna come out in the middle of Lillian's singing. And am I the only one who thinks there should be more than just three members?

Billy & Chuck's Promo: Gut-bustingly hilarious. could B&C be the Booker & Goldust of SmackDown? ...maybe not.

Tag Title Match: I marked out BIG TIME! for Real American. And the Title finally changed hands! I thought the New Age Outlaws were gonna be outdone as the greatest tag champs of all time!

Jericho Vs. Cena: The Lionsault and the Walls of Jericho don't work anymore. Bummer.

Jamie Noble & Nidia: Luxurious trailer? New Ford pickup? Running water? Full-size beds?! Damn, Aunt Edna musta been LOADED!

HE'S COMING: But to WHERE?

Batista: Why don't they mega-push this guy like they do Brock Lesnar? He has those SICK clotheslines, too!

Bra & Panties match: Wow. Not only did Stacy NOT win, she was absolutely SQUASHED! Not that I'm complaining, but do you think she could actually WIN some matches for a change? She's turning into the Anna Kournikova of wrestling!

The Main Event: I'll agree with the fans on this one: BULLSH*T! If we're lucky we'll be hearing about this on Confidential.

That's all I got to say. Goodnight, Happy America Day, and don't eat the poison mushrooms.

Lance Storm and the Westside Canadians didn't interest me. I think I've seen enough we hate America gimmicks in my young life, and this one isn't any different.

it was funny when Stacy went looking for John Cena, and Mark Henry popped out first.
Mark:Hey Stacy what's up?
Stacy:Vince wants to see John Cena, is he in there?
Mark:......Yeah sure.

Mark should of bust out and said "Y'know I am the world's strongest man" or "I can hold limo's back with my legs" or something! He looked dissapointed knowing Vince had nothing left to do with him anymore. In the words of CRZ "Thanks for coming out Mark!"

Finnaly got to see what Bautista was all about. I got to say I kinda liked him. Wasn't impressed, but he held a match. Venis impresses me every day. The only thing I worry about with Bautista is that they won't find much to do with him. He makes me think of Bull Buchanon's short WWF stint.

John Cena slapping Jericho was kinda funny. The way he went down was sitcom style funny. I'll save my Cena comments later.

Edge and Hogan vs. Billy and Chuck. I'm not a fan of any of these people really, but it had some nice build up at the end. I liked the double boot/stereo legdrop at the end. Still no good tag champs.

JOHN CENA SUCKS! What did Vince see in this guy? His moves we're sloppy, his look is dull, his moveset is uninspired. he used the same spinebuster twice after Bautista used it earlier in the night. I never thought I would hate that move. I don't see anything they could do for this guy that would make people interested in him. If they wanted a guy with a hard slap, hire El Dandy. Try again Vince.

HE is coming! Why Jesus would wanna come back in a mask to wrestle is beyond me. Oh HE isn't He is he?

Trailer park skit. Bleh, whatever.

The main event was good too, I guess they had something for us who was able to sneak away from relatives hoping for something to watch.

cruelangel777: when i saw mark henry pop out of the door, the first thing *i* thought of was "thanks for coming out, mark!" and his look of sadness made me giggle. well, not really. but yeah, as long as he doesn't wrestle or take up more than 30 seconds of my tv time.

team canada needs more depth than just "america sucks!". they need some genuine hate-fueled material to work with. the *america sucks* thing is going to get old fast.

cena's match this week wasn't bad, but it wasn't terribly impressive. everybody was creaming their pants over him last week, but this week will probably garner him a lot of backlash. and what the hell was he thinking with those tights? ugh!

the tag title match was pretty good. the skit preceding it was excellent. chuckabilly & rico are quickly moving up my ladder of guys i enjoy watching.

angle - taker was pretty good, considering i was expecting a 15 minute resthold and a shitty finish. well, the finish was pretty underwhelming, but i wasn't overly offended. the craziest thing was that they were SO CLOSE to messing it up, even on the freakin' RETAKE of it after the show went off the air. how messed up is that?

considering that tazz all but promised him last week, i was surprised to see no hhh. surprised, yes, disappointed, no.

Lillian Garcia has a badass set of pipes on her. The Canuckian Mafia's promo was funny, but would have been better with two things: Bringing up the war of 1812, and singing a bit of "The War of 1812" by The Arrogant Worms. But that song would probly have offended a few too many people.

Cena... Green = bad, and I don't like his hair, other than that, he's fine.

The two tag matches rocked. I would have been really suprised if Hogan didn't come out to Real American, and he and edge were really cool as a team, oh and I love Rico

The Undisputed Title match was damned good, I liked that ending, it was unique.

All in all, I liked the show, it entertained me, and that's good.

About the ending of the title match...

I didn't like it because Taker had to have been able to hear the ref counting three. I'm supposed to believe he couldn't take the pain for one more split second w/o tapping?

At least if they wanted a controversial finish where both guys have a case for saying they won, they didn't go to the played-out double pin.

I may not have seen every indie match since 1970, but I can safely say that it was at least an original and innovative non-finish.

Did anybody's TV get damaged during the tag title match? Four sets of matching tights AND Hogan's skin turned the screen redder than hell.

And that was one BAD ASS slap onto Jericho by John Cena. I wonder how much that sound was sweetened during production.

There's a really big problem with Billy and Chucky...

They're not gay enough!!!

They don't seem to know how to do it well. Maybe they should go out and study some Lenny and Lodi tapes...

I mean, sure they have decent gay characters in their backstage segments, but they don't wrestle like a gay tag-team at all, and I think that that's what's killed them.

Anyway, I thought it was an excellent show. Lots of good wrestling all around. The boys sure busted their asses this week.

Oh, and I think Cena needs to study Regal to learn how to make facial expressions. I didn't feel he got across what he was trying to half the time.

I'm not really a big fan of Cena thus far. There's nothing unique about him. He's just one of your steriotypical WWE superstars. And his wrestling, I feel, is a little weak... there's no need to pin two-three times in a row after a hot moveset like he does. It simply kills the crowd, 'cause you know he's not going win the pinfall if it didn't work the first time.

The Canadian Mafia went O.K. Lance should have brought up the War of 1812 but since few Americans know the truth about it that might have been wasted effort. They really need to do more than just say America sucks they need to beat up a real American with orange skin if only the could think up one with the tag belts.
The tag match was good considering the Chuck is the second best worker in the match. And hopefully this means that they will remember there is a tag team division.
The Noble and Nidia skits are a bit to subtle for me. No seriously it is funny because Noble's trailer looked exactly like my Mother in laws.
Apparently it is possible to knock out Jericho with a bitch smack. The match was O.K. but I don't understand the booking. Ceta lost and Jericho cheated. Who got over there? It's not like Jericho never cheats.
The main event was O.K. The ending was odd but hopefully it moves somewhere. I guess a 3 way match with Angle, Rock, and UT. But that is weird because it's not like it is embarrassing for UT to job to the Rock or Angle. Jeff Hardy maybe or Maven but the Rock has 6 world titles and Angle 2.
This makes 4 good shows in a row. The plot is moving forward. New wreslers pushed. Vince remembering the tag team belt hopefully.

The whole point to Billy and Chuck is that they're AMBIGUOUSLY gay. They're not supposed to be all open about it, and no one's really SURE, see...

REY IS JESUS

Do you think putting the Tag Titles on Edge and Hogan was a move made to make us WANT to see the Champs on both shows? I sure as hell hope so.

I LIKED Cena's green tights, especially matched with Jericho's pink tights (notice Jericho went all pink instead of pink and green). Whenever the wrestlers match each other, Chris Benoit was a wardrobe consultant (Honestly, have you ever seen him clash with his opponent or tag partner? It's uncanny).

The Title Match? Ever notice that when Hebner can't decide whom to award the decision, he restarts the match? Where's YOUR balls Chioda? Make us respect your authoritIE! And at that house show in Syracuse, when you tried to pick up may ex, and the best line you could come up with was "What are YOU doin?" and D-Von laughed at you and you didn't get any play... where were your balls then?

I thought the show was pretty good, I liked it. IN ring was fine, backstage stuff was ultra funny tonight

-Anti American segment - Well Lilian looked lovely, I like her added in to the mix, she did a good facial expressions on how upset she was when she was interupted (well Lil it could be worse the fans could be yelling what between lines). It would have been awesome if Storm threw in "Hey your not suppossed to be on THIS show anyways" (lol)... As for the speech some of it doesn't make any sense WW1, WW2?. I still don't think it's the time to do an anti-America angle, it seemed tired. But it did get heat so, maybe I'm wrong.

-Rikishi v. Storm - What does it say about Rikishi when I enjoyed Storms match with Henry last week A LOT more.

-D-von/Batista v. Ortons/Venis - Is Orton doing a top rope frog crossbody (he missed today), it looks sweet. Batista looks like a beats. I like him and Lesner (and before them I hated the big men) but I like these guys.

-Edge/Hogan v. Billy/Chuck - I thought this was Billy and CHucks best match. Maybe it's because the first time in 3 months the fans cared about who's in there. Chuck looked really good in there. The match was actually one of Hogans best. I'd put this as a huge surprise on how much I enjoyed it.

-Jericho v. Cena - I thought the match fine, great mid-card stuff. Ya agree last week was a better Cena match. Uh oh I'm I saying that Cena had his worse WWE TV match with Jericho, watch Y2J freak!!... A good gimmick for Cena is every town he's in, he claims it's his hometown to get the hometown pop (norman smiley kinda thing, ahh Smiley we hardly knew you)

-Torrie v. Stacy - funny line Thomas, Stacy is the Anna K of the WWE. She's so popular but loses ALL the time to Torrie. Stace has for charisma and I like her in the ring better and the fans seem to dig her more, but she loses. Oh well one thing that could save Torrie is if she carries around that ass statue everywhere she goes, that might make her a little intersting... Why are the TnA girls on a TVPG show but the wrestling girls are on TV14 show. I mean Stacy's ring shorts were as revealing as her panties, I don't care either way, Just find it odd.

-Angle v. Undertaker - THe match started slow, I like the sudden Angle bursts of power and speed... okay during the replay they had a bunch of plants on one side of the arena so they could retake, did I see one of them have a Triple H sign. Errr even when he's not there he's being put over.

other stuff : actually a lot of good stuff backstage - Mark Henry was awesome backstage, him mumbling "I'll get him" when closing the door was the best, he did look soo sad that no one was looking for him.... Billy/Chuck had the line of the night talking about all that walking they did on Sunday (is pride day on Sunday everywhere? I wouldn't know, it was here atleast)

-Jericho/Vince/Cena is it me or is it really disturbing seeing that Stacy backside poster in Vince's "office" for 2 straight weeks , does he need to put it up at every arena he's in. Cute unplanned misunderstanding by Jericho/Vince, Vince says Jericho is "obsessed", Jericho hears "upset". Vince repeats obsessed, Jericho replys "ya that too" . Jericho wants to pick on Cena but knows nothing about him so he just looks at him and picks on the first 2 things he sees his tights and hair. (lol).... Nidia/Noble was too funny today, I like these two so much, I hated Nidia when she won TE, now I think she rules. Running water, bumping into walls, Nidia seeing a fredge full of food, went face first towards it and almost had the door slammed on her face. Nidia plays it so well

-Angle backstage interview was great, he was so calmly going through the last two weeks of him kicking ass.... I dont' know if Mark Lloyd is a genius or jackass, he seems so lost and stupid but if that's his gimmick then he rules, because tonight Undertaker sarcasticlly said Lloyd is "very observent" when Lloyd mentioned something obvious, And Mark Lloyd had this huge smile on his face like "he's so happy Undertaker noticed Lloyd smarts" (lol)

Tazz and Cole had an awful night tonight, they were worse then usual, I noticed another bad thing about Cole, I noticed once a pin happens he stops putting energy in his voice and it's an edit in commentary. I don't know how to explain it happened when Edge/Hogan won the title. He was hyped going into the pin and once the pin hit it looked like it's normal Cole voice right away. And his hype voice sounds so phony anyways.

Line of the night: Chuck " My legs are sore from all that walking on Sunda"

Sign of the night "I like holding signs"

Random SmackDown Thoughts:

Keep Team Canada as it is, don't add other members. Good to see Storm getting significant mic time.

I think last night was the unofficial beginning of Mark Henry's heel turn. He'll get upset as the weeks go by, then turn heel, saying that he should be treated with respect since he's the World's Strongest Man.

Hogan was once again good last night. I actually have been enjoying him lately, and it was nice to hear "Real American" and not the crappy WCW version.

Torrie and Stacey were hot last night, although Stacey was hotter.

I wish somebody would mention the fact that Stacey's poster has been in Vince's office the past couple of weeks.

The ending to the main event was weird. Maybe Angle will be added to the Taker-Rock match at Vengence, making it a triple threat match.

Also, they cut out Team Canada's attack on the Undertaker after the main event.

Nobody has mentioned the funniest part of the show: Kurt Angle quoting Kid Rock.

"You may think I'm cocky, and I say what? It's not cocky if I can back it up." Or however it goes.

I wish they had kept the attack of the Storm Troopers on after the main event like I read in spoilers. I would have liked to see them get a brief beating in on Taker/Angle.

"Also, they cut out Team Canada's attack on the Undertaker after the main event."

I missed SD for the first time in a while, so I thought from the spoilers this was gonna be i. My rationale for the run-in was this:

This version of Team Canada started by each of Storm, Test and Christian being screwed by the ref. They ran in because the ref screwed Angle (in their opinion).

Angle agrees and joins Team Canada, becoming a traitor like Mike Awesome and Jim Duggan. This turn would have impact given his Olympic/American Superhero background.
