This episode was pretty intense. Last week I finally got the Joanie and Don scene I had been craving and then this week the firm goes in a totally different direction and literally whores itself out. The ironic thing being that Don's pitch was so good that they never had to get their hands dirty in the first place.
Don coming in for what looked like the save only for us to learn that he was too late was beautifully done and the look of his shock and her shame at the partners meeting said it all.
Then somethinhg happened that I never saw coming ... Peggy moved on. In another well done scene the breakup of the Peggy/Don combo was sad to see, but it is the right move for Peggy who will always be overlooked at SCDP.
Don's two most reliable women have shaken his foundation. The company he helped build from the ground up has gone in a very disturbing direction.
... and there are still two episodes left this season.
Peggy's departure was surprising but expected. Don's final reaction - the hand kiss - after trying to buy her back was fantastic. I was worried they were going to walk her into the empty elevator at the end.
Good to see Roger happy and engaged in his work again.
Pete's a slime. He needs worse than a punch. Trudy needs to castrate him. Missed chubby Betty this week.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
That the universe was formed by a fortuitous concourse of atoms, I will no more believe than that the accidental jumbling of the alphabet would fall into a most ingenious treatise of philosophy - Swift
