I went on WWE.com, and I noticed advertisements for Stone Cold Steve Austin shirts. So if Austin is not with WWE right now, why are they still selling his stuff. Is that right for them to do that? If there's a buck to be made yeah, but WWE doing this conveys that Steve Austin is still in WWE. Sorry maybe I'm not too sharp, but this is confusing me.

What's wrong with selling licensed merchandise that's in stock? Austin still gets the royalties. Some fans may appreciate the final opportunity.

Didn't Vince say on TV he was let go? I'm sorry if I'm wrong, because I don't keep up with current pro wrestling as much these days.

I don't think that Austin has been officially released. From what I've heard about other contracts, they won't release him, just let his contract expire. If they release him, he can work for someone else. If he quits, he still can't work for another promoton until the date his contract would have expired.

Note that I don't know anything about Austin's particular contract, but I'm basing this guess on performers like Sable and Chyna who have left on bad terms in the past.

Call it an indefinite suspension.

There's no way in hell they'd fire him.

On one hand, I'd think that what Austin did would qualify as a breach of contract, and they COULD probably take him to court and not only get out of paying on the contract, but keep him from working for another wrestling promotion (which I would imagine is the whole reason he's NOT currently unemployed).

On the other hand, the court costs and time involved might be prohibitive - hell, with the courts being how they are, by the time they got the ruling from the court on the situation, Austin's contract could be expired (when IS Austin's contract up, anyway?). It also might end up costing more than his downside guarantee in court costs (especially if Austin tried to fight it in court, which he might).

Pardon me for rambling, I'm at the office at 4 AM on the fourth of July because of a router problem and am somewhat incoherent.

It would make sense just to suspend him indefinitely..... that way he couldn't work for any competition. Might be costly.... but it affects his career... and doesn't allow any competition that big of a name.

Yes, but what I'm saying is that if he's found in breach of contract, the WWE probably wouldn't have to pay him at ALL and he still couldn't work for any competition.

Then again, the PTC lawsuit'll probably pay for Austin.

Does anyone know where the hell Steve Austin even is right now? I haven't heard anything more about him since that fateful night with Debra.

Linda McMahon noted in the last quarterly earnings conference call that Austin was "suspended". That's the official WWE position for now.

I really wouldn't be suprised if Austin comes back. But when and if he does, what will the fans that have been following this closely say?

Probably complain that another old guy's come in to stink up the main event and that someone who beats his wife and walks out on shows like a whiny bitch has no business in WWE.

But none of that will matter, because when the glass shatters, the crowd will scream themselves hoarse. Think about all those teases they did on the night the Rock showed up on RAW and then multiply that by a hundred.

Austin will be back once he staightens out his personal and professional problems. Remember, if you see it on TV, it's a work.
