A guy went to "Harmontown", an event with Community creator Dan Harmon and during the event, this happened:
I didn't ask a percentage, or at all. Harmon went on a mad tirade about how Chevy is the worst. He even played a voicemail Chevy left on his phone after Dan Harmon got a couple hundred people to say "Fuck you, Chevy" at the wrap party.L
I'll try to explain. In 322, the final episode of the season, it has a video game theme. Without spoiling too much, the tag and the end was supposed to be Abed changing the source code of the game to make it nicer for Chevy. All he had to do with hit the space bar a few times then hug Abed. Sounded very touching.L
Instead, Chevy walked off set, saying it wasn't funny. So that tag is lost forever. It was the very last day of shooting. So the next day they have their wrap party, and Harmon gets everyone involved in the show there, about 250 I think he said in total.
So Harmon is up, getting ready to show the S3 gag reel, but first chooses to make a little speech, which went something like - "Fuck you, Chevy" and inviting everyone there to say the same, which many did. Chevy and his family left, Chevy sent Dan a couple texts and a voicemail, which he played for us.
I have no problem with them dropping Chevy and replacing him with someone else (Chang?). Of all of them Chevy is the weakest link and offers the least. That is, if this is true.
Chevy Chase being a dick is not news. Frankly, I thought they were going to oust Pierce after S2 and make room for someone else (probably Chang) to officially join the group.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball
If you want to really know how much Chevy Chase is disliked and comes off as a complete asshole, read the book "Live From New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live".
"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life." - Winston Churchill
I won't miss Chase, but I don't know if I want a full season of Chang either. I wouldn't mind seeing it be a revolving slot kind of like when Kenny first died for real on South Park. Just have someone different every week without really addressing the fact that it is somebody different. Anything but more Chang.
Harmon and Megan Ganz rag on Chevy a lot on www.twitter.com, I guess it has been a lot more since they wrapped. Listening to DVD commentaries and things like that it seems like working with Chevy has always been an adventure though.
Harmon and Chevy are both professional mentalists so I don't know what would be weirder, that something like this would affect Chevy's future on the show, or that it wouldn't.
This was originally posted back on 2/27. Looks like it's since been "deleted" (and the MP3 is gone, too - anybody archive it? Ah, Deadline Hollywood did (deadline.com).)
I'm assuming what you quoted is what got deleted? That explains all the referrals... ;-)
Any reason this blew up yesterday? Did you hear about it from somebody else or...did you somehow "break" this story? You beat Deadline to it, at least!
I guess what I'm trying to say is I wouldn't be surprised if both dudes had forgotten about it by now - well, until we started reminding them on the Internet.
Is it possible that this is all some Andy Kaufmann level of trolling that Chevy, if not Chevy and Dan, are perpetrating for buzz? His complaints that no one cares about the story seem so illogical that I have to assume he realizes it, but I guess he could just be a giant dick complaining that his jokes got cut.
If he comes back next year, I wonder how the show will reference this. It might be fun if he doesn't, and we just get everyone referencing how Pierce is off-screen leaving everyone crazy voicemails.

The more I hear about this story the more I feel it's a work for ratings. I was too young to watch him on SNL but I've heard about his ego as he became more popular in the early years. He couldn't possibly still be like this in 2012? I would think becoming relevant again after all these years would make him just grateful to be apart of it. Much like how Chevy's past as a homophobe and chastising writers has been poked fun of on Community, I believe this whole incident is just feels too convenient.
This feud has gotten Community more media buzz than..... anything so far since the shows debut.
