Impact started off with a good opening segment featuring Roode antagonizing Storm and Dixie while hiding behind the police the promo was very solid but the idiot crowd in the Impact Zone hurt the promo a bit by chanted for Dixie of all people instead of Storm. I mean how dumb can they be? I know I have complained when the crowd has been apathetic, but if they are gonna chant for Dixie freaking Carter over James Storm, who is supposed to be the top baby face I dunno what to say. Storm came out and was really good on the mic and showed the right amount of intensity in going after Roode. Bully Ray attacking Storm made sense, as he wants to avenge his loss to Storm. Roode running off after Storm turned the tide against Ray was fine. Storm challenging Ray and Roode didn’t make him look smart, but it was meant to make him look gutsy and a bit of a hot head after all the stuff he has been through with Roode. I like Ray was not totally trusting Roode because he knows that Roode used him to hold onto the title in the past.

Velvet Vs Madison Rayne was a short, bad match. It is amazing how far the knockouts division has fallen the last few months. I like Velvet and everything, but she can not wrestle. She is best off as a bitchy heel like she was when she was in the Beautiful people. I would turn her heel and reunite her with Angelina , and have Angie do the wrestling. Sarita and Mickie should be in the knockouts title picture instead of Velvet. The announcers ignored the action and talked about how important it is for Hogan to take over as the GM.

I love how they are making this Hogan thing much bigger than the world title match with six months of build behind it. Geez. Dixie as usual came off so dumb during the park bench talk with Hogan where she placed the whole blame of Hogan and Bischoff stealing the company on Bischoff and being so sure that he has changed. I would laugh my ass off if it is all a swerve and Dixie turns heel and aligns herself with Roode. I really, really hope that does not happen.

Austin Aries cut a strong pissed off babyface promo on Bully Ray talking about how he can not be bullied and he can not be walked all over and how he is not the biggest man, but he has the biggest balls. Aries praised Storm and asked into Main Event match against Ray and Roode. Aries came off as a big star and it front of a better crowd this would have gotten over big. The Impact Zone crowd that had been cheering Aries in recent months starting a dueling chant. Aries got the majority of the crowd in his corner, but this was another segment the crowd did not help. I do like that TNA gets what they have in Aries and is giving him a good push. Amazing that the WWE did not see much in him and cut him from tough enough.

The action between Morgan and Crimson was better than expected as they had a intense little brawl that got them both counted out. This was okay and having a non finish on a TV match setting up a PPV match is just fine. I do not really care for the feud, but the crowd was really into the match.

Anderson Vs Hardy was a pretty good five minute match and really tonights match was better than the world title matches they had last year . I would have liked to have seen the match get five more minutes. Heck to be honest I would rather would have seen AJ Styles face Hardy instead of Anderson, but it was a good match nonetheless. Angle earlier in the show said that if Hardy beat Anderson, Angle would accept his challenge for a match at Lockdown, so unsurprisingly Angle got involved in the match and cost Hardy the match. You know with the news of Angle tearing his hammy training for the Olympics I really hope the match doesn’t happen now, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they still face off at Lockdown because Angle is nuts. The announcers hyped up the return of The MCMG during the match. I would have liked a better hype job.

An Eric Young-ODB backstage Segment followed by a Bischoff family in ring segment. Oaf. Man did the show grind to a halt. I remember back when Eric was pretty damn good on the mic, but really he is so stale-as a character, and his feud with his son interests no one, but him. The plants in the front row cheered their little hearts out. I hope they got paid more than usual. Gunner Vs Garrett at Lockdown is gonna be horrible, but not as horrible as Hogan and Bischoff Vs Gunner and Bischoff would be. I figure that match will still happen, but at Slammiversary instead of at Lockdown.

The video package for Storm gearing up for his match at Lockdown was again excellent with Storms workout and some good sound-bytes from Storm.

Storm and Aries Vs Roode and Ray was a very good match with Ray running from from Aries early on, and Roode staying away from Storm and Aries acting all cocky before a long heat sequence on Aries. Storm again was made to look very strong after beating Ray once again. Roode came out looking like the cowardly champion as he threw Ray in the way of a super kick after accidentally spitting beer in Rays face. The announcers did a good job putting over how hot Storm is, and how hated Roode is by everyone so much so that even Ray was not crazy about teaming with Roode. They are doing a great job with Storm, it is just he is playing second fiddle to Hogan and that should not be happening.

The Hogan-Dixie-Sting segment was what it was as I hated it, but the fans loved it. It is beyond sad that the only airtime Styles got in the past two weeks was being in the ring with the gaggle of babyfaces that wanted Hogan to be the GM. What a waste. Hogan of course accepted the job. The op story being the gm storyline is ridiculous. I am so tired of authority figures. The show ending with Hogan in the front and Storm and Styles in the background is ridiculous.

All in all, this show was better than last weeks, but that is not saying a much though. There are some good things TNA is doing like pushing Storm strongly and putting together excellent video packages, and I am enjoying the Aries push, but this Hogan stuff being the focal point shows even with Russo gone TNA still does not get it.

Ah, the Impact Zone.

I'm pretty sure they'd cheer for anything, honestly.

How does yet another Hogan Redemption Story with him as the authority figure help anyone?

I'm with you - I'm just sick to death of the authority figure angle and wish it would just go away, already. At least without it, you could actually build up individual managers to talk for wrestlers and give multiple people personalities rather then having one authority figure stand up for every heel or baby face in the arena.

According to the Twitters, next week will be the return of the Machine Guns. I just hope it's early on in the show so I don't have to wade through the rest of the junk. Them and Aries are really the only saving grace of this show.

It's amazing how they killed off any interest I had in Roode by making him look so weak and pathetic as a champion.

TNA has done something which WCW did a LOT in its last couple of years - when WWE introduces a storytelling concept, the rival eventually just co-opts it and treats it as part and parcel of pro wrestling. WCW did it with numerous things - a hardcore title, a protection-racket tag team - and I feel like the introduction of a named on-air "general manager" role is the same thing. They don't have to follow the tropes that WWE establishes, but they do. It's so tiresome.

Actually Bischoff became an evil authority figure with the NWO before Vince became Mr. McMahon, but point taken.

What baffles me is that if you read his book, Bischoff talks about how his strategy with WCW and Nitro was to be as different from WWF as posssible by bringing in international talent and the cruisers. I was hoping he'd use this philosophy when he came to TNA, but he did the opposite. He got rid of anything that made TNA unique. Further pushing the X-Division down the card, turning the Knockouts division into diva crap, getting rid of the six sided ring, and taking focus off the tag division.

They are making strides with Pritchard in and Russo gone, but I don't feel they will do anything productive until Bischoff and Hogan are gone.

Evil Vince is so far removed from nWo Bischoff that the comparison is moot, though. I think Vince becoming an on-air personality may have been motivated by Vince wanting to prove how much more awesome than Bischoff he was (which he absollutely was), but the way in which it happened, and their roles in the respective companies, were totally different. So much so that, after six months of Evil Vince, it seemed like Bischoff was trying to retool HIS evil authority character to play catch-up.

Like last week, there were some good things, but most of the show felt more like unimportant filler than things that should be on the shows going into TNA's #2 PPV of the year. Roode/Storm is getting a good build, but no other match that is or may be on Lockdown currently feels like a big thing or excites me.

The Roode/Storm promo was good and this week's video package was great. It's too bad it's playing 2nd fiddle to the latest Hogan/Dixie drama.

I don't look forward to another Gail/Velvet match. I don't look forward to another Morgan/Crimson or Garett/Gunner match either. The rest of the PPV card needs to be strong, though looking at the fanfest line up, they may do another Devon/Robbie match which would be yet another rematch I don't need to see.

The Aries promo was good and I like him getting placed higher up the card, but I think they could have gotten there w/o making so many X guys look like dorks last week.

I didn't catch it until now since I tune out during Eric Young segments, but them spending a good chunk of the go home show for their 2nd biggest PPV of the year on a low-mid level comedy wedding is a bad idea, especially when you look at how poor the build for most of the PPV matches is currently.

Once again, I skipped the Bischoff crap. I do, however, know the result and think Garett in no way deserves a singles match on TNA's 2nd biggest show of the year.

Storm/Aries vs. Roode/Bully was a fun match. The show could have done with more stuff like that.

I didn't stick around to see Hogan make a bunch of babyfaces, including the guy main eventing the next PPV who shouldn't be placed in such a position, be a bunch of Hogan cheerleaders and stroke Hulk's ego.

There being no new MCMG hype video was disappointing. It would've only taken up 30 seconds and would've been a much better way of announcing their return next week than having Tenay mention it in passing during an unrelated segment. Oh well, I'm still excited for their return. AJ doing nothing and having no obvious Lockdown match with 2 weeks to go is also disappointing. Did they keep AJ in Orlando for 2 days just to be one of many guys cheering on Hogan tonight?

The logic doesn't even make sense as to *why* the "real Hulk Hogan" needs to come and save TNA, any way.

I mean compared to the past, it's relatively tame - there's no chaotic group trying to bully their way to power, there's no one attempting a power grab.

It makes absolutely ZERO sense that Dixie would have to beg Hogan to come and help (or Sting would need to vouch for him. Is Immortal even a factor anymore?

Vince became the Evil Vince because of the Montreal Screw Job. In the eyes of the fans, he basically became the personification of a boss that screws over his staff. It worked even better when they were able to re-tool Austin as the employee fans can live vicariously through.

I don't blame Bischoff for trying to copy the "Mr. McMahon" character. If wrestling had someone in charge who backed up the character like Vince did, it would still work great today. Unfortunately, we've had so many GMs, Presidents, CEOs, COOs, Wife of CEO, etc that it's just watered down now. The fans don't actually look at a guy like John Lauranitis and wish he would get his comeuppance because they despise what he represents. To fans, John Lauranitis is just the guy that the company tells us is currently the one playing the role of the boss.

continue to love the build up to Roode/Storm. Pretty much everything centering around them this week was great, and it was nice to see A Double get showcased. He's one of the freshest parts of the show right now.

The main Hulk Hogan angle was terrible though. I'll say it again, I do not give a shit who is in change and centering a bulk of the show around that drama is just ridiculous. Its inconsequential and it doesn't change the show at all, so who cares? Forget the fact that Hogan already stole power from Dixie once, so none of this makes any sense in addition to the idea of the boss angles being overplayed.

Impact is a miss this week, but Storm/Roode continues to be the shining portion of TNA that is carrying them to Lockdown.

Wait when was Aries on Tough Enough? Was he cut on the show or when he was trying out? I read that his contract with TNA is coming up soon they would be insane not to re-sign him. Wonder if the WWE might have interest in him now.

Yeah Aries was one of the big indy guys that tried out for the show, and was an early cut and the rumor was that it was over his size. Aries after getting cut talked about retiring. Thankfully he didn't and he's had a great run since returning to TNA. I did read over at pwiinsider that his contract is up soon, but you gotta figure that fact that he's being pushed hard, and has been in the Main Event match twice in the last month might mean he's on the verge of re_signing with TNA. I mean re-signing Aries is a no brainer even for TNA.

Aries was in the last cut before the final cast. I think the story was they had both Aries and Matt Cross figured for the same character spot, and they just picked Matt.

In the past, NWA from like 87-89. I was a giant Flair mark, and I thought the Midnight Express was the greatest thing in wrestling. More recently, I'd say the run with the Smackdown Six in mid-late 2002 was my favorite time.
