a)The gun went off accidentally.
b)Rick is an established retard.

There are holes in it, but I think Rick trying to get closer to Shane to deal the killing blow was definitely supposed to be him wanting to do it quiet, with a side order of the writers wanting to show that Rick is far more psychologically equipped for this kind of situation than Shane is.

Spiff, the infection only takes hold once someone is dead. Unless bitten it's not transforming the living willy-nilly. So I'm not sure why mankind wouldn't have a future if the non-bite version of the plague only activates once the body dies. As I said, the only changes needed for a functioning society would be body disposal. There's been films and books that posit this scenario - a society existing once the plague is gotten under control.

I assumed it was because he would have had to draw down on Shane, because Rick had his gun in his holster, not his hand. That's chancy, and Shane easily could have had his number - which I also thought was part of the reason Shane offered him the chance in the first place. The knife was chancy, too, but it meant getting in close enough that Shane wouldn't see it coming - which he (and I) didn't.

I think a lot of fans are weded to the comics for no real reason. They are, to be polite, not great. There's great stuff here and there, and probably a higher percentage of it than the show has managed so far, but they're not the CITIZEN KANE of zombie fiction like so many claim.

How is "people die of old age, yet mankind continues on" the same as "humankind goes extinct as everyone turns into zombies"? I'd like to think that for these people the zombies will eventually be wiped out, and humankind can return to some sort of normal life. But if everyone is destined to be killed or turned into a zombie, that's kinda bleak.

I'm pretty sure that Shane meant to come out of this alive, or he might have shared the info about how close Randall's group really was. Not to mention how skeevy Randall himself was.

Yes...Lori is useless. What exactly was she doing when Carl escaped all these times, and what a half-assed reconciliation with Shane. She had to have known that was going to wind him up like a broken watch.

I took the large group of walkers to be another (the same?) herd like they encounted on the freeway.

I am dismayed that the show has decided to start killing off my favourite characters. Any twists and turns that they offer us next week had better be damned good to justify killing Shane.

If its any consolation this should have been done in season one instead of going to the CDC. I am not a big fan of Shane, but I could see how people have a vested interested in him on the show. It sorta makes sense too, without Dale their to be the good angel, Shane shouldn't be there to be the bad angel. Of course, Rick rarely if ever listen to Shane, so who knows.

I also think without a certain character, hell characters there, the Governor storyline is going to be a bit of a wash. If they are just going to change major things, I am hoping they keep that body count down a bit since like you, I am not a big fan of massive cast changes which this year we have had a lot from the introduction of Hershel and his family to the major three deaths if not more next week. Again, I am not sure if going away from the books this far is a good thing or a bad thing, but it just feels odd.

Carl sneaking around at all hours is just ridiculous, particularly when they were busy preparing for a lockdown in the same episode. It's getting hard to look past this.

In addition to Shane becoming zombified without being bitten, it's also interesting to note how quickly the transformation took place. With Andrea's sister in Season 1, it took all night for her to reawaken as a zombie. Now, it seemingly happens in about a minute.

I saw the spoilers AMC sent out last week that Shane was gone before the season ended, so that kinda ruined the SHOCK value of the ending a bit. Rick stabbing Shane still had me bug out my eyes, but again like when Dale, I knew he was gone either this week or next.

I get what Spaceman Spiff is saying about how "everyone who dies without massive brain trauma comes back as a zombie" changing the future of these people. It's one thing to say that everyone who dies does so in a controlled environment like a hospital or something, but that's not what happens in real life. People have heart attacks, people die in their sleep. What happens when a group of kids goes drunk driving on a weekend night and crash their car? Now we've got a group of zombies wandering the countryside until they walk into a group of sleeping people and bam!, zombie apocalypse starts all over again from scratch.

Some of the best stuff on the internet is reading people who love the comics complaining that the show isn't as good. No kidding. There's a reason the book is just about always better than the movie. When you read a book, your brain fills in the motion and actions inbetween the frames, even if it's just subconsciously. Same thing goes when you read a book. In order for the movie to be better, your imagination has to do a worse job of acting things out than the people whose work you are watching.

The show being different then the comics is also good as it means the show will become even more suspenseful for comic readers the same way that True Blood is able to surprise it's book fans.

Man, I thought T-Dogg was a dead man with all that dialogue. The old Joss Whedon trick of "make the fans care about a character just so they get upset when you kill them off" trick.

Meh. I can live with that, as part of the stuff that needs to happen for the story to continue. Maybe it's how easily you embrace the Zombie side

It's a good thing they didn't kill Shane off at the same point as in the comics. In s2 he was the most interesting character and basically the catalyst for most stuff happening.

In the middle of all the neglicance of Carl, I was amused that Shane actually said "what are you doing here, all by yourself" when the kid showed him the gun.

And Lori sure as hell fueled the flames by talking to Shane and admitting she didn't know who the father was and thanking him for being there. In his mind she was waving flags "Still want you"
At least she felt she had a reason to do this, because of the recent deaths, instead of the randomness of the past weeks.

I cheered when Daryll pointed out the lack of bitemarks.
It seemed obvious they're going that way, but then we get Shane's anvil. I guess the cat's gonna be out of the bag next week.

Farmageddon. Fun

No movie or TV show can compete with your mind's eye, but many people fail to realize no one but you cares what you see with your mind's eye.

Much better way of saying what I was trying to spit out. Thank you.

Just thought I'd add that although Shane dies in the comics, I was surprised that he (and Dale for that matter) was actually killed off instead of just leaving the group. For Dale it would be more of a stretch, but they even hinted at that possibility for Shane.

With the number of shows that start and fail on different networks, there's a high chance Jon Bernthal would be free to at least do a cameo or 2-3 episode return later on, if not a full return to the show. I'm going to miss Shane letting me know that he's going to announce "Lemme tell you sumthing" or say to me "Lemme ask you sumthing."

I wonder if the obvious reaction to someone leaving the show being "kill them off NOW!" won't come back to haunt them when the opportunity arises down the road to have a fan favorite or villain return.

The "zombie vision" was stupid and yea, hopefully they never do it again. That last sequence with the walkers coming out of the woods behind Rick and Creepy with the theme song playing in the background was just an awesome setup for Farmageddon. I had to watch it again today just to enjoy it one more time.

Having sat down and watched it, I am more ok with it. I still would have preferred Carl to kill Shane first and next episode have zombie Shane lead Farmaggedon. Still, Carl popped his cherry which is really the point of all of this. The world Carl was in before is now gone and has to be a man. Daryl is once again the best character on the show.

I also think the moment at the RV with Glen and Andrea was probably more moving than the funeral for Dale.

I didn't mind ZombieVision as much as all of you did. Yeah, we knew from the "he's got no bites" that the virus is pretty much in everybody, but this was just the reaffirmation of that fact.

Carl once again gets neglected. He's either the dumbest kid on the planet, or a frieking McGuyver like genius who can slip away undetected.

Rick howling after killing Shane shows how human he still is, mourning the loss of his best friend, despite all that he knows about him.

Glen turning down a nice warm bed? The boy is terrified of Hershel!

Unless the zombies have a shelf life like in 28 Days, I don't really foresee the human survivors ever actually getting rid of all the walkers out there, tehre's just way too many of them. So random zombies are always going to be a danger.

The real question will be if new children will be born infected? Or will Lori be carrying the miracle baby with the cure in its marrow?

Well, if how she keeps tabs on Carl is any indication, the baby will crawl out into the pasture and get stomped to death by cattle.

What people think of movies is purely subjective. There's a very long list of movies that I loved that are considered crappy (like the Fantastic Four movies, taht's a running joke here at times, it seems)
