DC continues to skirt around potential legal troubles, this time with Captain Marvel. The Captain Marvel name is dead and buried for good and they're going to go with Shazam as the character's name from here on in.
They've also re-designed the character...
...and made him look like a reject from Assassin's Creed.
I kid! I kid! I actually like the re-design a lot. The hooded look actually makes the character look pretty cool.
What I'm more concerned about is how many liberties they're about to take with Shazam's character and mythos. Does Freddie Freeman become Shazam Jr.? If Billy and the wizard are in the same room, are they both Shazam? Do I call his sister Mary Shazam? You can clearly see the silly problems this creates.
Captain Marvel on Young Justice is getting a ton of love, and they take the redesign as far away as possible. I really just don't get DC and Warner Bros.

Nor do I. I just don't get it. The core of Captain Marvel is such a simple and powerful idea: a young boy with nothing says a magic word and becomes a superhero who can do almost anything. What boy wants say a magic word to become THAT?
Plus the magic word is SHAZAM. How does it work if that's also his name? In the midst of battle, a villain could just say, "Hey, what's your name again?" "Why, I'm Shazam." BOOM! He's Billy Batson again.

fixed. I forgot to close my spoiler tag and everything went to hell. For a minute I thought that you had capped a screenshot of another thread and carried it over.
