http://www.prowrestling.net/artman/publish/ROH/article10023698.shtml Pretty strange considering the owners of ROH said they'd be willing to let their wrestlers go if they got an offer from a bigger company. I am surprised that the WWE had interest in the Briscoes, they don't seem to be their type and don't have the look the WWE seems to want. I don't know who Cole is so I can't comment on him.

Cole's main eventing their next PPV this Sunday. (Cole and Eddie Edwards v. Kyle O'Reilly and ROH Champ Davey Richards. Cole and Kyle were a tag team once, Richards and Edwards were a tag team once. Somehow that's supposed to make people forget that ROH's world title won't be defended on their 10th anniversary show.)
As for the story: What, exactly, is the problem here? They were (and still are) under contract to ROH, so WWE didn't offer them contracts. The Colts had a shitty season, and I'm sure they'd like to pick up Eli Manning if Peyton has to hang it up, but they can't offer him a contract since he still has one with the Giants. It is hypocritical for ROH to say they'd let them go if they got another offer and then they reneged, but it's perfectly legal. And, quite frankly, ROH can NOT afford to let Dem Boys go. Cole, sure, but not Mark and Jay.
I've never watched any ROH until I flipped over to catch some on my local Sinclair station ... I'd read about these guys & were actually quite impressed.
With that being said, they'd like get stuck with some backwoods hillbilly gimmick, pushed briefly, then split up in singles stars to feud with each other.
I could literally beat my head into the wall over the lack of emphasis on tag team wrestling ... WWE is leaving money on the table in terms of merchandise sales by not having & pushing 2 or 3 teams as superstars. I'm not saying that the Briscoe Brothers are gonna move merchandise like the Hardys, but, hopefully you get my point ...
now if they could also bring back Haas & Benjamin ...
You know who I'd like to see Vince pick up? Whether he breaks them up or keeps them a team? ANX. Reasonably big guys, can promo, lot of potential there.
I can only imagine the meetings that would take place where WWE Marketing brainstorms to come up with a graphical concept which looks JUST LIKE the confederate flag yet doesn't have all those "racist" connotations* for all the DEM BOYS merch which they would plan on surely selling like hotcakes.

I agree 100%.
I was telling my buddy the other day that if *I* were WWE, I would combine the (non-existant) lightweight/cruiserweight division with the tag division and have all the tag teams be high-flyers. They're doing some of that now with Primo/Epico and Kofi/BourneR-Truth, but it would be really cool if they could find maybe 2 more teams of guys whith a similar skill set to replenish the tag division.
I know with that idea above, we would miss out on some of the more smash-mouth-style teams like Road Warriors and Demolition, but it's better than the weak tag "division" they have now, right???????

With that idea though you could then throw in a single big bruiser team to give that power dynamic and they would seem like real bruisers. Think how the Dudleys looked when they were going against Edge and Christian. Neither guy is a giant, but against those four they seemed like monsters.
Has there ever been any "official" info on why WWE has neglected tag teams since the heyday of E&C/Hardys/Dudleys? It's such a huge part of pro wrestling in general that it seems nuts that WWE has just stopped bothering with it.
Lloyd: When I met Mary, I got that old fashioned romantic feeling, where I'd do anything to bone her. Harry: That's a special feeling.

Just don't cross the lines.
Seriously. Red background, white and blue lines running parallel with the stars in them. Leave enough room between to put #DemBoys(or #DemBoyz if ROH calls their lawyer).

It's often been reported that Vince McMahon doesn't see money in tag team wrestling and never has. It's a side attraction to him and his emphasis has always been on creating individual stars. It's no coincidence that the last two golden era's of tag team wrestling in the company (late 80's, early 2000's) coincided with the main event singles roster being absolutely stacked. With all his main event players in place tag teams were allowed to develop and do their own thing as a support to the main guys. Whenever they're really struggling for top singles talent the tag team division almost becomes like a hindrance to them.

Yea I think Shane said the last (and only) tag team that they liked were the Road Warriors. Other than that, it seems the McMahons have never really thought to take tag teams seriously.
It's astounding that this is their attitude, considering the luck they've fallen into in the past with teams being successful.

So, the 'never give up' shirt Cena debuted last Wrestlemania? In, of all places, Atlanta?

No, more like the Chicago flag. Move the stars into the blue stripes, make the stars white and the background red.

Vince did book Dick Slater as a babyface as the Rebel Dick Slater with the Confederate Flag and Dixie as his theme song in the mid 80's. Most offensive part about that was that Slater was far better as a heel than as a face.

There are two reasons behind this. One of which is the fact that Rock is stealing the show from everybody and even a speeding bullet looks slow to Rock's performance. The second is the fued has not really lived up to expectations.
