WWE heavyweight champion CM Punk and R&B singer Chris Brown have engaged in a Twitter war.
According to TMZ, Punk sent out a random tweet that started the controversy.
"I would like @chrisbrown fight somebody that can defend themselves. Me curb stomping that turd would be a #Wrestlemania moment," Punk tweeted.
Brown found out about the tweet and fired back with one of his own. "@CMpunk needs more followers. Such a leader! Not to mention the roids hes on has made it utterly impossible for him pleasure a women," he responded.
This tweet has been deleted by Brown.
He then went on to add, "@CMpunk contact my assistant and I'll have em send u an autographed pic for my biggest FAN!!!"

Punk puts out a video reply in response to Brown's allegations that he's a steroid-abuser with an inadequate penis.
In his video, Punk starts out by saying he's " a proud life long drug free straight edge individual" ... and then spends the next minute BLASTING Brown.
"Chris and I come from different worlds. I don't have an assistant. I don't have a body guard. I don't have a manager or a PR person telling me to delete tweets like Chris does, and I don't hit women. Period."
He adds, "[Chris] has made the wrong accusations to the wrong person because I can defend myself."
Punk then challenges Brown to a no-holds barred fight for charity ... and says, "I will choke you out and I will make you feel as weak and as powerless and scared and alone as any woman who has the misfortune of knowing a sad cowardly little boy such as yourself."

The cynical side of me thinks that this was done for free and easy publicity. If that's the case...they probably should have had Cena do this, just because Chris Brown's a universal heel amongst reasonable people. It would have single-handedly endeared Cena to everyone.
And then WWE went and bragged (?) about it (primarily the TMZ coverage) during SmackDown!, with Cole not even wanting to weigh on Chris Brown (though Booker T wanted to talk about him).
Congrats Punk! A whole new demographic (girls who love Chris Brown and would let him hit them because he's dreamy) knows who you are and about Straight Edge!
I'm a huge Punk fan and an equally large Brown detractor. That said... how 'sanctioned' by the WWE could this be? Obviously the publicity angle is attractive to them... but that video comes off strong. (And come on - I'm well aware of how Brown's a tool and deserves this level of scrutiny... but when does this just get weird for everyone?)
I like it. If it was a work then congratulations to Punk, because this felt real and authentic. WWE hyping it makes me feel like they are going to try to make it a work, but I truly believe Punk will not put up with his shit like Show had to do with Maywheather. He will fucking wreck Brown.
The Wee Baby Sheamus.
Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.
I follow Punk's Twitter account, and I didn't see any of this on his feed until just after SmackDown started. I remember thinking how odd it was for him to be tweeting during a show.
This has to be all WWE.

Punk's initial Chris Brown Tweet (twitter.com) happened on Monday.
I don't think it started as a work, but now that it has made its way to television, it's going into the realm of work if it isn't squarely there already.
However, this is the 2012 social media conscious/obsessed WWE and, especially at WrestleMania season, they won't be ignoring any mainstream attention they can get, whether it was planned by Creative or just something that happened offhand by one of their guys who likes to say whatever he wants on his Twitter and that's now ballooning into something bigger.
@CMPunk
“@ZackRyder: @CMPunk She played me bro” I got your back.
I don't think Chris Brown would be stupid enough to play the heel in a feud over him caving in Rhianna's face. This isn't a work, it's Punk, probably encouraged by WWE, needling a celebrity.

It's hard for me to get behind a concept that starts with "Chris Brown wouldn't be stupid enough to..." but I agree with your overall point. I think Punk just said something for real and it turned into something else. Punk shits on people and things he doesn't like on his Twitter all the time.
In that Twitvid Punk was very clear and eloquent about what he thinks about Chris Brown. Personally, I agree with Punk 100%. That guy is a piece of shit.

First thing I thought after reading this thread was that given the history of "curb stomping" and it's use in American History X that Punk probably should have used a different term.
This ain't a work. Punk said what he wanted and it got some media attention. WWE jumped all over it because they have always been desperate for mainstream attention.
It was a tad humorous for Punk to be talking about women being revered given his reputation with the ladies (Brooks, Daphne, Maria, Beth). Not that being a womanizer is even in the ball park of what Brown did though.

Does Punk have a history of shady breakups, or are they just normal "things don't work out" break ups that EVERYONE has, but if remote celebrities have them, they make headlines. (even if its just wrestling dirt-sheets and fan sites.)
I know he has certainly dated or slept with a lot of women, but is his reputation that he cheats on them/treats them poorly, or does he just have an awesome roster of ex's? Just trying to figure out what the supposed negative of his dating lifestyle is that would be demeaning to women.
Edit: Maybe I missed a really well known episode, but my knowledge of the situation is simply that Punk has dated a lot of hot wrestlers.
I'm more disturbed by the amount of women I meet who just look at the Rhianna/Chris Brown and sympathize with Brown. I've actually had girls defend him in conversation and it slightly darkens my believe in humanity.
Punk's womanizing always made me think more of James Bond, as women are very easily drawn to him due to his natural charisma rather than him just wanting to get weird with the local talent. Yet he's so focused on the mission of being a top WWE performer that relationships take a far backseat. He's like Reverse John Morrison.

Remember when Ted Dibiase was parading around a fake Randy Orton and it culminated in Orton Vs. Orton at Summerslam? That was the greatest mark out momment of all time! Fuck you and fuck your dog.
