Great promo but I've given up on ROH after all the chair shots to the head at their last PPV. There was what 12-15 stiff chair shots to the head between the Corino-Steen match and the Briscoes vs WGTT match? Amazing that a company would allow that to happen in this day and age. If that happened in the WWE or TNA, Cornette would have a cow, but it happens in ROH and the excuse is ''they went in business for themselves''
Originally posted by samoflangeThe Briscoes are great in the ring and all but I hate listening to them cut promos. Everything about their persona screams bush league.
The excessive swearing definitely helps to make it sound bush league. But actually, it was an okay promo, all things considered.
Great promo? Absolutely not. Good promo? Pfft...no. But decent? Totes.
I think they did a decent job of expressing how ridiculous it makes some wrestlers look when they try way too hard to show how intense they are. "Come see how intense I look!"
I will say, however, that it's pretty dumb to ever discuss anything pro wrestling in relation to MMA and its success. Just flash "This contest is staged and therefore, not a real athletic competition/fight."* on the screen, why don't you?
But yeah, because that's the company currently signing his checks, Cornette will think it's bloody amazing.
*EDIT - I'll clarify: It undermines the alleged toughness of a wrestler. It's a psychology issue.
(edited by Whattaburger on 16.2.12 1644) This is all serious business.
That's one of the greatest promos of all time. Not because of the content or because of the ones delivering it, but the idea of putting promos, unedited, online where you KNOW your core audience is is brilliant. Bypass censors and let them be more themselves. Everybody watching it knows its fake, so the whole MMA vs ROH thing doesn't bother me. I liked it.
EDITED TO ADD: I tivo ROH and fast forward through most of it so I am not certain if this idea of a promo online is new or not.

And the MMA guys will always fight like angels?
^^Yeah, that Nick Diaz chap always struck me as someone who would have no idea in a barfight.^^
Quick reactions to the happenings: + Edge/Jericho is enough to get my PPV money. Edge agains spears the champ, and the move now has its own chant. + Ziggler qualified for MITB by beating R-Truth and John Morrison.
