The Quick and Dirty version first:

Zema Ion over Jesse Sorenson via CO
Robbie E over Shannon Moore
Gail Kim over Tara
Samoa Joe and Magnus over Crimson and Matt Morgan to win TNA tag titles
Austin Aries over Alex Shelley
Kaz over AJ Styles
Gunner over Garett Bischoff
Bobby Rude over Bully Ray, Jeff Hardy and James Storm. Bobby pinned Jeff Hardy after ringside enforcer Sting pulled a Summerslam 96 and accidently hit Jeff Hardy, but was then forced to count him down as Bobby pinned Jeff.

So, what do all these results have in common? That's right, the heel or heels won EVERY MATCH. Seriously, this was like almost every CZW show in the 2000s. If we didn't know that Orlando is their base of operations, I would suspect that TNA was trying to kill this town.

The good thing is that most of the matches were in the decent to good range. Aries vs. Shelley was the best match I have seen this year (granted it is only February), Kaz/AJ was really good, and the main event had good action and told a good (if predictable) story. But seriously, every heel won. I just can't get over it.

Oh, and I would have to mention that in the first match, Jesse Sorenson got hit with an errant moonsault on the outside from Zema Ion and got knocked the fudge out (Ion's knees got him right on the top of the head and it was over for Jesse). TNA got people right out there, but it was a long time before they could get Sorenson out of there. Scary stuff.

In theory, yes, but I'd say that no matter how much they try, Samoa Joe and Magnus were the faces in their match with Crimson and Morgan.

I missed everything before Kaz vs. AJ (which was awful since the one match that I wanted to see was Aries vs. Shelley) so I can't comment on anything before but I will say that Kaz and AJ had one heck of a match.

Gunner vs. Bischoff on the other hand? Not so much. Best part of that match was not anything that happened in the match but this post on Twitter: "You can tell Garret was trained by Hogan. He needs a rest hold every 20 seconds #TNA #AgainstAllOdds".

Also, why is Gunner's name still GUNNER?

I wasn't too impressed with the main event either. It was decent, sure, but I just didn't really get too into it. I'm also still trying to figure out a) why Hardy still has a job and b) how much cocaine Sting does before he goes on camera.

I didn't watch til the end but, given what I read of the match ending, I'd assume we're building toward a Sting vs. Roode match?

If you told me, Russo was no longer the head booker or of creative or whatever that report said and saw this match, I would call you a damn liar. Only an idiot books a PPV heel only PPV. The only time you do something like that is if you are trying to do a giant stable like the NWO or Evolution or MEM, they weren't, so I have no idea why they decided to go this route. If anything you let Shelly get the win, because now that Aries beat him clean there is nothing to that feud. If he beat him via shenanigans then yes, you can do a rematch, now there is no point. I understand Aries is good, very good and has a CM Punk vibe even with his dungeon master cape. Yet, if you are going to job out all of the faces then the least, the very least you could do is give Shelly the title. Its not like Aries got this thing last month.

To TNA's credit, they have kept the belts on their champions for a while now. It has helped all the divisions sans the tag which Joe/Magnus is a way better choice instead of the twin towers of boredom. I just hope they don't decide at Lockdown to have the PPV be the fall of the champions with everyone losing their titles which would telegraph the end to the main event. Sting vs. Roode is ok if it is one month and its a pause til we finally get Bobby vs. James. That is the match that should be the main event at Lockdown. Yet, I can see Hogan or Kurt wiggle themselves into it.

This was a decent ppv with pretty much clean finishes until the overbooked mess in the Main Event.

Sorensen Vs Ion started out well and then went very badly with Sorenson taking a knee to the head by all reports this is a serious injury. He according to report went totally numb and couldn’t feel his lower extremities. I’m hoping this isn’t a serious neck injury but right now it’s looking like might be. Glad TNA stopped the match right away realizing how serious this injury was unlike a few years ago when Sabin got knocked out in a tag match and they continued the match.

I liked the story in the Tara-Kim match with Tara hurting her knee and selling really well and it leading to a clean win for Gail. They have done a great job in making Gail a strong knockouts champion, she’s the strongest Knockouts champ since Kong.

Crimson and Morgan Vs Magnus and Joe was a average match with a good finishing sequence which will likely lead to another Crimson-Morgan match because of Crimson accidentally spearing Morgan which lead to the finish. Man is Crimson awful.

Aries Vs Shelley was a flat out tremendous match up which would have been even been better if they weren’t wrestling in front of the deadest crowd in wrestling. They did wake the crowd up at the end but again the fans in the Impact Zone hurt every match with their apathy. I thought the finish was really well done and Shelley did a good job selling a neck injury after he hit the tope. Aries going over clean continues to make him look like one of the strongest champs in wrestling, but I wish this would have had a screwy finish so this feud would continue. I’d love to see them have a best of 5 or 7 series which I think would reignite the X division.

Styles Vs Kazarian was a really good match with once again a dead crowd that hurt the match. I was pretty surprised to see Kaz go over relatively clean. I’m interested to see where they go from here.

Bischoff Vs Gunner has the worst match of the year on lock down already. Garrett messed up a hip toss and totally fucked up the finish by not going down for the DDT. He was booked as ”gutsy” because he stopped Hogan from throwing in the towel. The announcers put him over huge and killed the little cred they had. It’s unbelievable that this match was in the semi main event slot. With Eric Bischoff having all this power Garrett is gonna continue to be shoved down our throat.

The main event was decent with a screwy finish right out of the 1997 version of Summer slam with Sting trying to hit Roode with the belt but hitting Hardy instead. Glad Roode is still the champ just wish he’d be booked as strong as Aries and Gail Kim are. I’m not looking forward to the Sting-Roode match and I’m bothered by how far in the background Storm has been pushed.

I don't regret skipping this one. I take it this was TNA's (semi-) annual "heels win every match, in most cases cleanly" PPV. Because that has always worked out well in the past.

The Sorensen stuff sounds bad. I hope it ends up being less serious than most think.

Why do TNA open challenges usually end up being someone disappointing? I find it hilarious that Shannon Moore is one of the few babyfaces they protected tonight with a non-clean finish.

I was glad to see they took the belts off Morgan & Crimson, then realized that likely means Morgan vs. Crimson is happening again soon. Now if they could just find a good team to have feud with Joe & Magnus.

I think I'll track down Aries/Shelley tomorrow. I'm glad it at least got 15 minutes. I have a feeling I'll be wishing it got some of the time that went to Garett's match. As I said up thread, I hope Shelley isn't going back to sitting at home waiting for Sabin to return after tonight. Him vs. Aries again interests me far more than Aries vs. Ion, though the clean finish and #1 contender match make me think they don't intend on doing a rematch.

I said I'd laugh if Garett/Gunner was the semi-main, but now that it happened and got 12 minutes, I realize that's more sad than funny. I'm suprised Garett lost. I guess that means, sadly, this feud must continue, likely as next month's semi-main.

The worst offender in the heel winning every match stuff was the Gail Kim/Tara match. Gail and Madison Rayne are arguing the whole match, but it really doesn't ever give Tara an advantage. Gail would just hit Tara with a move, get into a verbal screaming match with Madison, and then just hit another move on Tara. It was pathetic to watch Tara made to look like a chump.

I can only speculate that they are looking for Gail to turn face at some point, especially with the Mickie James "slow burn into heeldom" story. I just don't know why Tara has to bear the brunt of all this stuff.

Terrifying and tragic injury. Brutal to watch and I wish the best for Sorensen, it looked to be a freak thing. TNA's insane bumps haven't gotten guys, but a simple--simple for X division--Asai moonsault does this. Just goes to show how freak accidents, this, RVD doing a baseball slide, Hansen's bodyslam to Bruno, Hayabusa's Lionsault botch can cause the worst and the risk these people take with their bodies.

At this point I hope the man can live a full life, let alone wrestle, but it sounds hopeful long term for that if he can move his legs/arms.

I gotta question the referee here for not stopping the match sooner. Even after the countout, he checked on Sorensen again before calling for help. He had to feel some pressure to give a PPV a chance to end properly, but still ...

I'm happy to read that he has regained feeling and movement in his limbs and is expected to make a full recovery. I sincerely hope he is not under any circumstance listening to Kurt Angle when it comes to a time table on when one should return from a neck injury. One of the worst things he could do is come back too early.

I don't mean to sound crass in a thread like this in saying the following, but while things like this and the Haskins botch to a degree were freakish accidents, I hope management looks at them and things like Mexican America's injury causing run a few months ago and reconsiders hiring so many green wrestlers, particularly in the X Division where guys do a lot of high risk stuff, and continuing to employ careless ones like Hernandez. They have a developmental group now and there are a lot of great, experienced guys out there they can fill their roster with. There's no need to use so many green guys on national TV. They should also take a look at the competency level of their agents while they're at it. They are bad at laying out matches and continuously allow guys and girls to do moves they shouldn't be doing.

You know in terms of the green X-guys and laying out matches, it is too bad for TNA, honestly, that Sean Waltman is scouting and doing training for WWE. Him clean and not on camera and without bad influences about is still of value (his Chikara stuff was great).
