Impact started off with a pretty good opening segment featuring really strong mic work by Storm and Hardy was better than usual on the mic and Sting and Roode played their parts well. I feel like I bitch about it every week, but boy you wish they’d advertise big matches with more advance time. I feel like Storm is best off wrestling strong heels like Ray, Angle and Roode than a guy like Hardy who is a mega face and the most over guy on the roster.

Styles Vs Gunner was a underwhelming four plus minute match. The ring work was okish, but they didn’t get time to tell a story and really Gunner didn’t gain much by beating Styles as Kaz interfered and cost Styles the match. Styles didn’t look like a strong baby face jumping over the guardrail to get away from Gunner after Gunner tried to DDT him on the floor, he should have fought Gunner off. It feels like Styles has never mattered less. I’m not overly excited about this Kaz story as it seems like the whole lame reluctant heel storyline that saw last year with Dreamer and it never really played out. As far as Gunner if you’re gonna push him push him as he’s still smarting from jobbing to Garrett Bischoff numerous times.

The Crimson-Magnus match barely lasted over a minute and made Magnus look very weak. Why am I supposed to see the tag team he’s in as a threat when he’s disposed of so easily? IMO Magnus has far more potential than Crimson as he’s a really good promo guy and has improved in the ring. The post match beat down on Crimson and Morgan was supposed to give Joe and Magnus back their heat but IMO it didn’t wash away the match. I would have booked a competitive match, but they may not trust Crimson to wrestle more than a few minutes in a singles match. He is that bad.

The Garrett workout video with the cheesy music was really cheesy and a total waste of time. I wish TNA spent half the time making guys with talent stars as they have in trying to make Garrett a star.

The Mickie-Madison match was a good no nonsense steel cage match that should be the blow off to their long ass feud. They have been pretty much been feuding off and on for around a year. I was glad their was no interference by Gail and the match got a good amount of time. The chin locks in a cage match was silly, but otherwise it was a really good match and really by far the best match these two have had against each other.

The Aries-Shelley segment was one of the best talking segments on Impact in months. It was great to see two tremendous talents like Aries and Shelley get 10-12 minutes to talk and build up a match. The video package showing Aries dominating the X division was very, very good. This was really the highlight of the show and it was great to see the X division spotlighted. Aries and Shelley got off plenty of great lines(Shelley:"You couldn't beat the piss out of a urine-soaked sponge!") The promo exchange is worth searching for on you tube. I’m really looking forward to the matches these two have. I really hope the segment doesn’t bomb out in the ratings because it will give tptb reasons not to spotlight the X Division like they did tonight. If TNA was run by smarter people both guys would get huge poshes. The usually dead Impact Zone was really hot for this segment.

The Eric Young-Angelina Love match wasn’t really a match just the usual Eric Young zaniness ending with a low blow which is the finish to too many TNA matches. Poor Love used to be part of the hottest acts in the promotion and now in feuding with Eric Young which never leads to anything good. I have a bad feeling that ODB and Young are the next Knockouts tag champs. I enjoy ODB, Eric Young not so much.

I really liked the backstage segment with Bully Ray and Sting. Bully is such a great heel and so in tune with his character more so than almost anyone in wrestling.

Hardy Vs Storm was a very solid match up. They both did a good job and the crowd was more split than I expected. I like that Storm had control of the match and had Hardy possibly beat before Ray ran in. I was afraid that Hardy would have Storm beat before the run in like he had Roode beat last week. As far as the screw job finish the second week in a row and coming off a ppv with a screw job finish well it’s not good. Impact much like Raw bleeds viewers in the second hour and this result sure won’t help. You keep having screw job finishes in the main event people won’t bother watching because they’re expecting a screw job finish like fans did on Nitro’s main events. That said, it does put heat on the heels and leads somewhere, but they've ended two Impacts in a row with a screw job and a ppv with one, so it's not as effective as it could be. We learned last week that week that Ray wants a title shot so all his run ins and protecting of Roode is explained as he’s never gotten title shots like Hardy has. I suspect that all these run ins will lead to a four way match for the world title at Against All Odds. I would guess Roode will retain by snaking a pin on Hardy or Ray.

All in all, not a bad show with one really great talking segment, an excellent knockouts match and a strong main event match that was marred by a screw job finish. The Garrett Bischoff push and all the airtime Eric Young and Garrett gets over far more talented guys does annoy me.

I liked a lot of the show tonight expect the Eric Young stuff. The major problem I had with last night is you do a great match with Mickie and Madison to remind people why the KO division matters and makes for good TV. Then, you spend the rest of the show reminding us that the KO division is a bit of a goof with EY and ODB. You can't have it both ways, but this is TNA's problem. They want have the ability to be serious as well as comical in their divisions. Remember Curry Man in the X-Division or even ODB/EY in the tag division? Yeah. They can''t have it both ways, your division is either to be taken serious or its not.

Shelly and Aries had put down a lot of truth in that promo. Aries was right in that the X-Division can't lay a glove on him due it kinda sucking right now. Alex was also right that their tag division needs MCMG. I will say I wish Aries would shown a little bit of timidness or fear with Shelly instead he came off as someone trying to bury him. I like Aries, but he needs to stop using the HHH/CM Punk shoot playbook as a heel. It doesn't help you sell the feud if you dismiss your opponent the first five seconds he comes out. He is built like a WWE Pre-Made CAW in the cruiser-weight division not Brock Lesnar.

I also did like the Sting/Bully Ray thing, too. Sting seems to be enjoying his new head role and for the first time since Commissioner Foley, I actually like this authority figure. The rest of the show was there. The tag team feud as some juice, but not much. Combining the Gunner career killer storyline with AJ/Daniels/Kaz was a nice try, but it didn't really seem to succeed. Not shocked by the end of the main event. They still think Hardy's a star even though when I went to the house show this weekend, he was getting as much boos as he was getting cheers. James was too, but he was facing Kurt in PA, so he is an away team for all intensive purposes. James did get cheers and a good pop for winning too. To me, the logical choice is James/Roode, but again this is TNA.

Shelley and Aries both took the time to put over the other amid the insults, and that's how you properly build an angle. Good, good work there.

My friend saw this taping live and the end where AJ jumped the rail, AJ grabbed a chair and ran Gunner off. I guess they must of edited that bit out not sure why and yeah it made him look bad. Garrett said that his trainer will shock people clearly his trainer is The Shockmaster!

The opening promo was fine, minus Hardy, though this show opening pattern is getting stale.

AJ/Gunner was decent but the end and post-match were too rushed and cluttered. Gunner has improved over the past year, but I still don't see what's so special about him to warrant his push and getting Flair as a manager. He still falls short in many areas.

Add Crimson to the list of guys whose pushes I don't understand. If they're going to do Joe/Magnus vs. Morgan/Crimson for the belts at the PPV, it'd be wise to have the former win some matches and not get squashed to show they're on the same level as the champs during a match instead of just putting over the champs who've been presented as superior wrestlers to the challengers. It's the same problem that plagued the Joe/Morgan/Crimson feud. Tonight, according to TNA's website, Joe & Magnus got a PPV title shot after losing clean at Genesis and Magnus losing a 1 minute TV match clean to Crimson yet on the same show, guys were told they'll have to win a match to get a World & X Title shot, and next week's preview lists a three-way for a KO title shot. Yay consistency.

Funny how the Garett Bischoff storyline is one of the only ones that regularly gets recap videos. I'm sorry, but despite his dad's best efforts, Garett doesn't feel legit.

Mickie/Madison was good (better than I expected), though the cage didn't seem necessary and didn't add much.

The Aries vignette and the Aries/Shelley promo were great. It made me wish they did this feud earlier more than I already did. I'm glad they're using Shelley again. He's easily the best face they currently have in that division and should be used to help prop up the weak face side until Sabin returns and the Guns hopefully reunite to help the even weaker tag division. I look forward to more Aries/Shelley segments and matches in the coming weeks. That feud should be one of the best things going in the company, provided it gets a good amount of TV time.

Why were there more segments hyping Young vs. Love than segments hyping the cage match that main evented hour one?

Yet another lame finish aside, the main event was a nice little TV match. I liked the post match stuff too.

I didn't have any issue with Aries promo and didn't think he was looking to cut down or bury anyone ala Punk or HHH. I thought it was his usual excellent heel promo. It was great to see him play off of a strong babyface for once instead of a bland babyface like Sorensen or a terrible babyface like Kendrick. I hope this Aries-Shelley feud isn't short term. I do suspect it is as Shelley is pretty much waiting for Sabin to come back.

Have I gotten so deluded that I don't really mind the Garett crap. Sadly, the answer is yes.

Oh, come on.

I have been waiting for Shelley to come back this whole time - the only thing about Impact I like - and I missed it? Argh!

I have been really impressed with Aries and Shelley should have been doing that the entire time since Sabin went out. I'll have to find this on Youtube - it sounds awesome!

I don't like shows opening with promos but this one was really good. things went downhill from there. 10%
I like AJ Styles when he is working with somebody equal to his talent, but Gunner has yet to sell me on himself even when I hear wrestlers I know say he's actually good. IDK. 0%
Crimson = blergh! Magnus is getting better but still needs to be somewhere like Mexico or Puerto Rico learning. 0%
Garrett Bischoff get OFF my F'ing TV yesterday & never, ever come back. 0 %
Mickie & Madison. Great match by Impact standards. they are both better than this & yeah the cage didn't really come into play the way it could have but still worked well. 20%
A Double & 1/2 of MCMG! a promo segment that fired on all cylinders! Excellent! 20%
Winter kicking the living dog shit out of ODB!!! loved it, Moar Winter plz!

Bully & Sting promo. Ray still cuts one of the best promos in wrestling when motivated & working off Sting payed off. 10%
Hardy & Storm. Storm keeps getting better. have never been a huge fan of Hardy but he seems to be keeping his shit together & this match was another good one by Impact standards. 10%
overall grade 70% highest I've ever given Impact & it made me feel like I wasn't entirely wasting my time watching.

I agree with the Matt Tracker on the Shelley-Aries segment. Shelley is one of the most underrated/underused guys in wrestling. That segment was better than anything Garett Bischoff, Crimson, Devon's kids, Sorensen, Traci, Rob Terry & Mexican America have done the last 3-4 months in their numerous appearances while Shelley sat at home because creative had nothing for him.

I look forward to this program, even if it's just a 1-2 month long filler feud. It should be one of the best current feuds and be an improvement over recent X fair since unlike most of the recent X stuff, both guys are great in the ring, great on the mic, have charisma and a character, are over with the audience, and have great chemistry. Their PPV match and future segments should be great, provided they don't get slighted on time. I hope their PPV match gets more than the usual 10 minutes TNA PPV undercard matches get and bucks the trend of the X Division only appearing on one of the episodes filmed at the on the road tapings at next week's tapings.

At the very least, on paper, it looks much better than the ho hum Aries vs. Kendrick and Aries vs. Sorensen & Kash feuds. This feud already feels like a bigger deal than those ones. They should have done this feud the last 3-4 months while building up and getting over the characters of a new babyface or two to slide into the top spot when Shelley moves back to the tag division instead of throwing the bland & underwhelming Sorensen into the title picture from the get go and expecting people to get behind him despite doing next to nothing to establish his character and give fans a reason to care. The problem with that, though, is it would have required them to regularly give the X Division 2 segments on a show which they obvious don't want to do. After all, there are some weeks where the division doesn't even make TV.

I haven't watched Impact in a while, but I did catch this one - well, I ffwed most of it. Anyhow, I also really enjoyed the Aries/Shelley-stuff. Great delivery by both men.

Okay, obviously you were a WCW fan and you hate Vince Russo, but to say WCW was well and fine before they hired him is an absolute fallacy. Where do I begin? WCW was haemorraging money. It had guys like Piper, Savage, Hogan, etc.
