This was a very good read. There were flashes of the George Lucas I remember in this article and it goes a good way to helping get the terrible taste of his more recent work out of my head.

Some highlights are...

Lucas claiming that Spielberg lied about the 'Indy in a Refrigerator' scene and that not only was it all his idea, but he's got a large file on it with scientific research proving that it was realistically possible for Indy to actually survive such an incident.

“Why would I make any more,” Lucas says of the “Star Wars” movies, “when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?”

Han Solo was almost black. Glynn Turman from The Wire was almost cast in the role.

Aaron McGruder (The Boondocks) was brought in to help add dialog to Red Tails. McGruder is a huge Star Wars fan and he gave Lucas some major shit about the Prequels. I find it interesting that they were able to work together and McGruder didn't once bring up Jar Jar Binks.

Well, if you get time, read this. It's really good.

I really don't know if Red Tails is a popcorn film considering, the subject matter. Also, how little we see an all black cast without Tyler Perry presents in front of it. If Lucas wants to retire on his own good for him, but if he feels he is pariah for the internet then I am against it. If you go back and look at the feedback for Episode III on this site, it was close to being 90% positive. Its websites like AINC and Cracked who make their bones on bashing the prequels thanks to having a vocal, pissed off at everything and average web traffic.

I am also in the minority where I like Kingdom Skull for the most part and I understand what he was going for with it. However, there are some cringe worthy parts, but some of the complaints are meaningless. It doesn't shock me to see him have science to back up nuke the fridge. When mythbuster does Indy stuff a good chunk comes out right, Jaws on the other hand, not so much.

If he does move on to the art house, I'll check it out, but I will miss someone who had the epic vision of Star Wars, Indy and yes, Willow.

If this somehow leads to Lucas making another "small" film as good as American Graffiti, I am 100 percent sold.

I always thought Lucas was kinda of a baby when he had his taking the football home mentality when people gave him grief about the Star Wars prequels.

"You don't like my latest Star Wars movies? Well I'll show you, I just won't make anymore. Haa !!! What do you think of that? I sure showed all of you!!! You happy now???"

But then again, I'm sure George has a good idea what the storyline would be for those last 3 Star Wars movies that have yet to be made, and he might be thinking:

"Damn, if Star Wars fans didn't like those prequels, they REALLY won't like what I had planned for the last three. I think it might be for the best that I just don't make them."

Lucas has been saying all he wants to make is small films for the last twenty years. He's full of it.

That's not the only reason he's full of it. "The original film cuts don't exist", when they do. "I'll never release them on DVD", when he does. (But wait, they're not in a perfect format for the real hardcore fans). "I'll never release them on Blu-ray", and he does. "I'll never put them out on 3-D", and The Phantom Menace is coming out like that. (Wake me up when he gets to Episode III.)

Except a lot of shows simply DON'T have a lead character. Modern Family doesn't. Happy Endings doesn't.
