Wonder if Johnny Ace is going to use Brodus to show us how unpredictable he can be by having Clay use a different gimmick each week?

I had thought that, too. Next week: Brodus Shango? The Clay Zombie? The Ultimate Brodus?

    I feel fairly confident the finish of Punk/Swagger was intended to be fubar'ed like it was. As was pointed out by shawnpatrick, the announcers quickly made a big deal of it -- showing replays multiple times, the works. You wouldn't do that on a botch (though it probably won't stop it from showing up in a future episode of Botchamania).

You would if it was an unavoidably obvious screwup and you thought you might as well leave it open for a storyline next week; they made some lemonade. Punk moving first to the Anaconda Vice, and not immediately arguing the pin seems like it'd mean there was no plan there to argue (or a fantastic job of making it seem real, I suppose.)

Alvarez said the finish was supposed to be the vice, for what it's worth.

    Zack Ryder defends his US Title against Jack Swagger next week on Raw. Yeah, Swagger really earned that shot.

I thought this peculiar, but for different reasons. They never hype matches for next week without a skit. I guess they wanted to set up the explanation for Zack being forced to defend his title next week despite being dead (though, you'd think they could still give him the week off for that.)

Ok, here's a question that no one's brought up yet. Where IS Beth Phoenix, anyway? She hasn't been on TV in weeks. Is she injured? Is she in the doghouse? Did the writers get bored with her?

Remember a couple of weeks ago Beth Phoenix wrestled and lost to Alicia Fox on RAW? You don't? Well, it happened. When Fox did her somersault legdrop finish, she bashed in the side of Beth's face pretty good. Beth hasn't been on TV since. So, presume she's recovering from that, unless there's another reason that has yet to surface.

Well, you can believe Alvarez or you can believe shawnpatrick.

But it's not like we haven't seen this happen before (The W). Note that in THAT thread, people again mistakenly thought some angle was in play here when what really happened was the ref didn't call the match the way it was intended.

I guess if you're gonna borrow, borrow from the best. (In this case, "the best" is Ernest Miller and The Rock.)

Not sure if this is funky enough either, but I expect the "My Bad!" t-shirt to be available imminently. Makes me feel a little funky.

Random observation about Big Johnny. He's so great when he's doing a backstage bit...he sounds so natural and has great delivery. When he's out in front of the crowd, he sounds terrible. He can't project his voice above the crowd noise and he sounds like he's reading a script. He speaks the same way no matter where he is, but it only works when he's backstage (a more controlled environment). I think this is why I never fully got behind his character.

In fairness, it is a SmackDown! angle, I'm assuming it'll get plenty of airtime on Friday night.

More time had to be spent on Raw angles, like Punk/Laurinaitis/Ziggler, Kane/Ryder/Cena, and Miz/Truth. And a certain Funkasaurus.

Honestly, I think the feedback about Brodus Clay is a genuine pat on the back, and maybe a little message to anyone listening that he has a certain "it" factor in size, look, and overall presence, but the gimmick is crap. I for one would've bought Brodus Clay as a more credible mosnter than Kane 3.0, but we'll see how the whole thing pans out.

The only question I have is why did a camera decide it necessary to film a wrestler brushing his teeth in the first place. If they're going to do Crash TV style shenanigans all over the building, er, Universe, at least make some more camera actions reactionary; IE the camera shows up with the brawl already in progress, or the guy's already laid out, or something suspenseful. I'm not going to watch somebody practice sensible dental hygiene on the edge of my seat. How neat would it have been if all of a sudden Ryder just started proclaiming seeing Kane places rather than this silly demonstration of trick-shot camera work.

True. Except when Big Johnny was wishing John Morrison well on his future endeavors. He should do that every week. (Wish John Morrison well on his future endeavors.)

By the way, Big Johnny is so funny on Twitter. (twitter.com) He had an #AskaGM Q&A last night. Here are the gems:

@WWERawGM
Hey there #FutureEndeavHeads #BigJohnny has a few free minutes if you want to #AskAGM anything #WWE #RAW or anything at all.

@WWERawGM
"@badboyhawesy: fav wrestler?" Toots Mondt. The original Mr. Excitement.

@WWERawGM
"@Troooper: DID JOHN CENA PUNCH HURT YOU? #AskAGM". Yes, my feelings were very hurt.

@WWERawGM
"@WWE: http://WWE.com NEWS: Might John Laurinaitis give some pointers to the New York Jets' GM? http://wwe.me/1gEfG5" Be more Exciting

@WWERawGM
"@wastelandgurl24: what would u do if u get stuck on a island alone?" I would catch some rays

@WWERawGM
"@corduroypant: do you worry you are setting the bar too high for your eventual Raw GM successor?" Yes.

@WWERawGM
"@IAmPayDayJ: What do you do in your free time? #AskAGM" I enjoy model trains.

@WWERawGM
Gotta run. Thanks for the warm regards #FutureEndeavHeads sincerely #BigJohnny EVP of Talent Relations and interim #RAW GM.

And this response to @WWEMagazine:

@WWERawGM
@WWEmagazine maybe EVPoTR&IGMoMNR. That's the most succinct acronym I can think of. Also, we should talk about cover shoots...

(That was intended to be funny in its immediate curtness, not outright rude.)

It's funny that John is always on his phone, ostensibly tweeting throughout the show, but it's for sure some 25 year old writing staff gofer.

As i watched that match i imagined how great it would be if we found out at the end of the voting all the other pros had ignored the list of rookies they were supposed to vote out and inserted Matt Hardy's name instead. I enjoy NXT.
