That's not quite a flat out no, so I'll ask again. I'm not saying replace Twitter. You've long stated that you don't like real-time threads, yet there seems to be some value in having real-time chat during events. I've done it while watching indoor and arena football, and if I found the right community (hint hint), I'd do it with wrestling and the NFL. Baseball too, when one of those games happens that you just have to talk about. Stanley Cup playoffs would be great, too!

Thanks for throwing this out for us to chat about.

It's not a no because I've implemented chat at least twice but it was never up to the quality that we wanted for a release.

Technically, we've messed around with voice chat too. I've thought about enabling that during events or football games as well so people could chat - maybe we'll try it out for the Superbowl or something.

I just don't know if I want to encourage you guys to watch Family Guy together and then chat about it. Technically Google+ offers these services much better than I can, so I've kind of stopped trying to roll my own.

If you guys make a Google+ circle, though, you can initiate a hangout on it - and have video chat if you want.

Keeping in mind I lurk. Generally only the WWE PPV prediction threads get me to delurk, and that's because I love the yearly thread that summarizes how good each person did. I am looking forward to seeing where I end up with that, even though I just watch WWE randomly for fun.

1) I would also like to see +1/Like buttons, just keep it small and not too flashy. I don't talk, but I'd love to just click a button to show I liked something.

2) As a female, it's not so much the color coding of names as The "Ladies Only" forum which hasn't been posted to since 2009. It just highlights the problem, and not in a good way.

3) CRZ: I actually came onto this site for another poster who will remain nameless. But I've asked that person a few times: "Why does CRZ delete all these posts [of certain posters]?". i.e. the "iron fist" already mentioned. However keep in mind I haven't been around long in comparison so I don't understand why Poster X or Poster Y gets under people's skin.

4) I remember how disappointed I was when I first started coming here and I clicked on the books forum and then realized it was mostly comic books. Again, that's the current demographic and I could/should open a thread of my own if I want to see stuff.

5) I love the little things like seeing all the bots, last 100 posts, etc. There's a lot of random gadgets here that are interesting.

6) Favorite thing hands down 100% is the daily banner up top. Absolutely love it. Though I think CRZ's mocking suggestion of a twitter feed to explain where he got each image could be useful Sometimes I go into the test pattern thread but there's no answer there. Although sometimes the imagination is more powerful than any answer that could be given

Okay, that's enough for now. Hope my thoughts help.

I just wanted to read this again. :)

I just wanted to read THIS again, too. Actually, a bit more on this: It's hard to believe that with the exception of a couple dozen Kim did in the early days, I've done all of almost four years' worth of those things with only the WrestleMania set repeating. My quickie math puts me somewhere between 1200-1400 of 'em. I have a problem.

I really SHOULD do the Twitter thing with the banners but I'd have to set up one of those programs that lets me write the tweets way ahead of time and fire 'em off at predetermined dates and times...otherwise I would just forget (like I constantly forget my sources now).

Or... I could finally retire the gimmick and go with something else!

I would definitely follow this Twitter. It's a really good idea, IMO.

Whoa, you made your wife a dude. I do not love that.

(I don't think making a superficial change can resolve a fundamental issue. This board's "dudeness" goes much, much deeper than the fact that the names look different.)

(Also, HELLO. The default theme is "Pffft!" - so you've only changed it for registered people.)

My real point (which I may have been too subtle with) was that the board is what it is and to attract different people than it does would require significant changes. No one actually wants to make significant changes to the board culture so let's be happy with it the way it is. *shrug*

I still HATE the pink name thing and it reminds me too much of Major BBS's Name, Age, Sex, Location thing. I may or may not be extra sensitive to that... I just don't think that my or anyone else's declared gender adds anything to forum discussion. I see it in the same category as race and religion on the internet-- if people want to put it in their profile or make it clear in their name that's fine, but forcing users to have it next to every post or to make it clear that they've opted not to add that information feels weird.

The Ladies Only Forum was a good idea, but it had/has very limited uses. There just aren't that many topics that I'd come here to talk about and am OK with everyone reading but only other women able to respond to. It's only so amusing to try to even abuse that ability...

A lot of the flagging posting has to do with people using DVRs and other On Demand systems. I'm 2 years behind on most media right now. My musical tastes have very little overlap with most people here. I don't have much option to see movies while they are current (True fact: to see most movies it costs us the same as buying a Blu-ray player because a 45 minute drive each way is as close as most movies get). Wrestling has stopped being a fun product for me to enjoy because I think too much about what the human cost is. I don't enjoy discussing politics --I can write most people's posts in that forum before they do-- and so can anyone who has been here long enough. Clearly I'm at one extreme in this, but most people on the board are posting less because of at least one of these. I have become more of a consumer of this board than an active participant.

I support the addition of the HTML code reminders that are in the FAQ section to be displayed somewhere when typing a new message. I am terrible at remembering them, and another board I go to sometimes uses some different ones. I open the FAQ page in a new tab when I need it, but having it right there where I am typing a message would save me several valuable seconds. This is like a level -3 priority in the grand scheme, but if you're going to add new features then that's what I'm rooting for.

1. I would also enjoy the "like/dislike" feature added to posts. I wouldn't mind if you just left in the likes and didn't put in dislikes.

2. W of the Day should be configured so that posters with zero posts would be exempt for receiving this prestigious honor.

I have to also say that I would like a "like" or "users have thanked this post" option. I know that when a thread doesn't get many replies that it isn't always a comment on how "worthless" it is, it may contain useful information and is appreciated but no one has really much to add other than a "thanks" or "that's cool" an a way to just click like a thumbs up is all that the post/thread needs.

Maybe a BBCode style toolbar above the reply textbox with useful button so people can click a QUOTE or LINK button and it would insert the code (just the word quote or link with the brackets) into the textbox and hovering over it would give tooltips like how to setup the quote so it says "Originally posted by (username)", and to setup a LINK so it displays descriptive text and not just the URL.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the layout. I love the minimalist approach to the overall look and feel.

I feel like a chat room would take away from the show comments. I like how you have to hold that thought until after the show, because then you find out if it is worth posting or not and then it still might not be but at least it stuck with you enough to post it.

I really like the idea of a like and even dislike button. I know I am a spotty poster sometimes things don't come out like I intend, sometimes my posts stink and sometimes my shit is golden yo ... but it would be nice to see evidence of that.

I also wanted to add that I use a prepaid Rumor Touch, which isn't really all that smart of a phone. When I am doing nothing at work I check in from once in awhile when I have nothing happening and this site isn't really that hard on it being non-mobile. It sometimes won't let me into the HOT threads, but overall I have no problems.

I just figured out how to post links with written text on what it's about. It's going to be another ten years until I get that right.

I see your "posters with zero posts" suggestion, and raise you "inactive users should be exempt from receiving WotD".

Not that being 0 for 3220 days.. and counting.. bothers me. Even a little bit.

But that was finally a suggestion that I can co-sign, which is another way of saying I really don't have any complaints.

Like several others have mentioned, I'm pretty well satisfied with the place as it is. Of course, my opinions should be taken with a large grain of salt since, while I check the board daily, I last posted something here 16 months ago and the only reason I'm posting anything today is so I can see, after 3627 days, W of the Day next to my name.

More seriously, I think Lise did a very good job of covering why I don't post much here. I haven't had television in years, my musical and literary tastes don't overlap particularly well with most of the other posters here, and I'm just not interested in most of the political discussions. Having said that, I'm still here most every day and can occasionally be inspired to say something.

I'm in this category as well, except I have television.

And, just to be hypocritical and make a suggestion for how we Ws can improve the place, we members should throw out some musical or literary threads. We have had a couple of good threads of book recommendations in the past; at least I know I found some good books.

Also, for music, when CRZ first started listing the 100 albums for $5, it seemed to generate more comments and recommendations. Many of the suggestions offered were really good and I found some great music (in particular Peter the Hegemon, KJames, Leroy, TheBucsFan, and a couple of others I'm forgetting pointed out some really good stuff). And, at $5 an album, it's quite the deal. Even if the suggestions seem obvious, I know that I'd appreciate them.

I think Lise nails this. I read the board most days, but don't post very much any more. I would wager there are a fair amount of us in this category, too.
