Hey everyone! First off, before we begin, I'd like to thank everyone for the feedback for last week's Twitter-cap. I'll definitely consider bringing it back for a second round. We'll go back to normal for now, as I don't want the Twitter format to get as stale as WWE's constant Twitter plugs. So let's snap back to reality with this week's show.

WWE - The Champ Is Here!

We go to a video package for last Sunday's Big Show/Mark Henry match. Dig that Big Show Savage Elbow that gets blacked out! Tonight, we find out the state of Big Show, Mark Henry, and the World Title. Um...this sounds familiar. Wasn't that the same exact pitch we got after the last PPV?

No opening credits, as we immediately go to the arena. We are taped from Wilkes-Barre, PA, as MARK HENRY makes his entrance. No custom camera angle this week, as Henry's on a crutches and a walking boot. After Henry reaches the ring, it's promo time! It's a little late, so I'll skip the transcription for this week.

Henry says people are reveling in his pain. He offers a Suh-style explanation of what happened last Sunday, saying he kicked Big Show in the knee and that Show feigned a groin kick to make Henry look bad! Mark Henry's misunderstood! Just like Ndamukong Suh! Mark Henry is the World Heavyweight Champion and he doesn't deserve to be treated like this! Henry says he isn't medically cleared to compete, but he's still standing because he's the World's Strongest Man AND the World's Toughest Man!

That brings out THE BIG SHOW for rebuttal. Show offers exposition, noting that Henry got himself purposely DQ'd. Show tells Henry that he injured him as payback. Henry calls Show a LOSER! Wow, them's FIGHTING WORDS! Apparently, Big Show doesn't share my sense of sarcasm, as he lays out Henry with the Mayweather Sucker Punch, in the one instance when that nickname is actually apt. Hit Big Show's music! Show exits the ring as we hit the replays. Henry's out like a light...but what's this...?

Ride of the Valkyries hits and that brings out DANIEL BRYAN with a referee and the MitB briefcase! Cole's having a fucking fit!

DANIEL BRYAN v. "THE WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN" MARK HENRY: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
The briefcase is handed in and Bryan tries desperately to roll over Henry, who's face-down and dead weight! Bryan finally gets him over and covers for the pin and the title to a DEAFENING pop! HOLY SHIT!

WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: Daniel Bryan - WOW!

Bryan celebrates with the title! As soon as he recovers from the initial shock, he IMMEDIATELY rushes over to the announce table and rubs the title in Cole's face! Now THAT is the SINGLE-BEST VISUAL OF THE YEAR! HANDS DOWN!

AWWWW FUCK! Here's Teddy Long, frantically rushing to the ring. I sense that Bryan's about to get Jericho'd. And sure enough, Long says that the cash-in doesn't count since Henry wasn't able to compete. Since when has THAT ever mattered? Are they just making shit up as they go along? (Rhetorical question! Don't answer that!) Cole celebrates like the smarmy jackass that he is. Good to see another segment dedicated to helping get Michael Cole over, because we just don't see enough of those.

Bryan hands back the belt. He gets his briefcase back, which I'm sure means a lot. And by a lot, I mean, jack shit. Long offers Bryan another opportunity and puts him in a Fatal 4-Way against Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, and Randy Orton, with the winner getting to face Mark Henry in a steel cage this Tuesday. Wow...if I'm Daniel Bryan, I tell Teddy Long where to shove his Fatal 4-Way and just pop him in the head with the briefcase.

Your hosts are the three turkeys. Fuck me, Cole's going to be UNBEARABLE (moreso than usual) this week, isn't he? Where's my MUTE button?

Later tonight, Zack Ryder teams up with Sheamus to face The Vickie Family.

Ad break

JUSTIN GABRIEL v. HUNICO
Hunico is notably riding solo. I know I expressed disdain for the cholo gimmick, but I seriously hope that the cholo faction with Hunico, Epico, and Primo hasn't gotten completely scrapped because of Sin Cara's injury, because that just means we have three more guys stuck in a holding pattern and the E doesn't need MORE guys running in circles!

And speaking of guys that are running in circles, here's Justin Gabriel! We start with a wrestling sequence. Booker tries to talk about the match and both wrestlers, but Cole interrupts him to gloat some more over Daniel Bryan. Sigh...strap yourselves in, folks. It's going to be THAT kind of night! Hunico takes down Gabriel with a short-arm clothesline. Hunico slides in off the apron and kicks Gabriel in the face before bringing him in with a vertical suplex. Hunico hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for 2 and hits the chinlock. Samoan Drop hits and legdrop gets 2. Back to the chinlock. Whip to the corner with authority is followed with the slingshot seated corner dropkick for 2. Gabriel tries to come back with headscissors and hits a corkscrew plancha to the outside. Gabriel misses a spin kick, but quickly hits an enziguiri. Asai moonsault gets 2! Gabriel tries for the blockbuster suplex, but Hunico elbows him off and finishes with the top-rope sommersault senton at about four and a half minutes.

WINNER: Hunico - Good match, but way too short. I'll expect these two to have a great series of matches on Superstars soon.

Later tonight, four-way madness!

Ad break - Raw promo! Watch CM Punk continue his epic feud with John Laurinaitis! Oh, and he's wrestling some guy that nobody cares about.

WWE Rewind presented by WWE 12 - Stills of Beth Phoenix retaining against Eve Torres.

The announcers are joined by ALICIA FOX. Oh lord, is she next in line? That's going to be UGLY!

NATALYA & "THE GLAMAZON" BETH PHOENIX v. AJ & KAITLYN
I'm starting to sense a pattern here. I hope Kaitlyn turns on AJ soon so that this doesn't turn into the next Kelly Kelly/LayCool. The new girls get entrances this week! It doesn't make them any less cannon fodder, but it's the thought that counts!

WINNERS: Natalya & Beth Phoenix - SQUASH!

Post-match, Kaitlyn heels on AJ again and bails on her. Natalya clamps on the Sharpshooter on AJ for fun. That brings Alicia in, which provides the visual of the two badass Divas of Doom slowly backing away from a woman in heels and a giant skirt that she's desperately trying to keep in place so that she doesn't flash anyone. Yup.

Later tonight, Sheamus and Zack Ryder faces The Vickie Family.

Ad break

Vignette for Kane's return, ending with a flaming Kane mask. I really, REALLY hope the plan isn't to bring back Masked Kane for reasons that I'll get into when the time comes.

Teddy Long's on the phone talking about this Tuesday's live SmackDown and notes that it'll be hosted by Mick Foley. Well, it can't go any worse than Mick's last apperance, that's for sure. Aksana's cheesy saxophone music starts up to...a huge pop from the crowd? Sorry, crowd, but I've got two words for you! NOPE! FFWD!

Elsewhere, Zack Ryder shills plays WWE 12! Zack Ryder talks about dancing to a techno-version of Sheamus' theme music. Holy shit, is Sheamus wearing a GREAT WHITE shirt? Good grief! I dare ANY white dude to try and wear that shirt in public! I DARE YOU!

The Vickie Family make their entrances for tonight's tag match. It's coming up next!

Ad break - SmackDown LIVE holiday special! "Who will get some COLE in their stocking?" Sigh...no, Mick...just...no...

Vickie Guerrero tries to break my eardrums. Nope! FFWD!

"THE ALL-AMERICAN AMERICAN" JACK SWAGGER & DOLPH ZIGGLER v. ZACK RYDER & "THE GREAT WHITE" SHEAMUS
Tony Chimel has been successfully reprogrammed and is now using the "Great White" moniker for Sheamus. If you haven't seen the latest Z! True Long Island Story, I highly recommend you check it out ASAP! John Morrison, we hardly knew ye!

We start off with Sheamus and Dolph. A wrestling sequence is interrupted by the "ITBEGINS2012" YouTube plug. Sheamus hits a fallaway slam and Dolph tags out. Swagger outwrestles Sheamus for a bit, so Sheamus goes to the power game and hits the ten-count chest strikes and clotheslines Swagger over. Dolph gets dumped! Ryder tags in and hits the Ryder Revolution tope con hilo! That takes us to our next ad break.

We come back with Ryder hitting a running forearm for 2. Sheamus tags in and Ryder whips Swagger into the slingshot shoulderblock. Swagger takes control with a clip and running shoulderblock. Dolph tags in and stomps away. The heels work over Sheamus for a bit before Sheamus counters the running Vaderbomb. Hot tag is made and Ryder is the house of fire! Broski Boot hits and the ref is tied up with Vickie. On the outside, Ryder knocks down Dolph and gets caught by a Swagger clothesline. Dolph tags in and tries for a hangman's neckbreaker, which is countered into a victory roll for 2. Dolph keeps Ryder down with a jumping elbow for 2. Time to hit the armbar. Dolph hits a hangman's neckbreaker and showboats. The heels work over Ryder some more. Wheelbarrow Rocker Dropper double-team gets 2. Swagger hits the running Vaderbomb for 2. Dolph tags back in, but a suplex set-up is turned into a small package for 2. Dolph hits a dropkick for 2. More double-teaming from the heels. Swagger puts Ryder on the turnbuckles, so Ryder takes him out with a Tornado DDT! Tags are made on both ends and Sheamus cleans house on Dolph. Swagger saves Dolph from the High Cross. Ryder makes the blind tag, as Sheamus disposes of Swagger with the Brogue Kick! Dolph tries to hit Sheamus with the Zig Zag and gets chucked off. Ryder swoops in and nails Dolph with the Rough Ryder for the pin at 16 minutes and change!

WINNERS: Sheamus & Zack Ryder - Stop me if you've heard this one before: Zack Ryder pins Dolph Ziggler. Come on! GO SOMEWHERE WITH THIS ALREADY!

Backstage, Bryan vents to AJ (who's still selling the Sharpshooter, like the trooper she is) about what happened earlier tonight. Wade Barrett enters the picture and promises some more of the Barrett Barrage. AJ scoffs at this, which prompts Barrett to say, "I've seen it all now. You've got a 14-year-old girl fighting your battles for you!" HA! Bryan says he's not intimidated by anyone, so Barrett just smirks and exits. AJ kisses Bryan on the cheek. Man, I wonder how Gail Kim feels about th...huh...what's that...Gail Kim what? Ohhhhhh....

Ad break - WWE Shop promo

TED DiBIASE v. HEATH SLATER
Welcome back, Heath Slater! The bell rings and we suddenly see Jinder Mahal on the Titantron. Jinder Mahal derides DiBiase for forsaking his family and wealth to hang out with the fans. Wait a tick...THIS is DiBiase's next big feud? With Jinder Mahal? The same Jinder Mahal who DiBiase squashed in a two-minute special TWO WEEKS AGO??? I hate this company sometimes.

Slater attacks DiBiase from behind, but DiBiase quickly makes the comeback. Announcers are so enthralled with this turn of events that they talk about Tim Tebow. Slater hits a single-arm DDT for 2. A second one gets 2. Slater hits the hammerlock...and it's a LONG hammerlock, too. DiBiase makes the babyface comeback. Dream Street finishes at...oh, who cares?

WINNER: Ted DiBiase - About as good as you'd expect a Ted DiBiase/Heath Slater match to be.

Post-match, DiBiase Tebows. Somebody shoot me.

Later tonight, a Fatal 4-Way main event!

Ad break

We are taped from Wilkes-Barre, PA! Let's go back to last Monday where Cody Rhodes antagonized Booker T to kickstart a feud that is going to benefit absolutely nobody.

That segues to the demoted Matt Striker standing backstage with Cody Rhodes. Cody says he threw water in Booker's face because of his disparaging commentary. Man, that's some thin skin on Cody. If everyone decided to attack an announcer over terrible commentary, Michael Cole would be dead 100 times over.

Daniel Bryan makes his entrance for our main event, as we take a look at what happened earlier tonight with Bryan getting Jericho'd. Randy Orton makes his entrance next to send us to our next...

Ad break

DANIEL BRYAN v. RANDY ORTON v. CODY RHODES v. WADE BARRETT
We start off with Orton and Barrett paired off while Bryan goes after Rhodes. Orton goes to work on Barrett in the ring, while the other two fight on the outside. Kneedrop gets 2. Barrett exits, which allows Orton to nail Cody with a dropkick. Cody gets whipped into the corner, which allows Bryan to hit a YAAAAAAAAA corner dropkick. The faces stare off, with the crowd clearly behind Orton, to send us to our next ad break.

We come back with the heels working over Bryan. Orton comes in and cleans house, as Bryan takes a breather on the ouside. Barrett nails Orton and tries for the pumphandle slam. Orton floats over, but falls to a Rhodes Russian legsweep. The heels double-team Orton until Bryan comes in and cleans house. Rhodes eats some corner kicks. Bryan tries to set up a top-rope 'rana, but Barrett picks Bryan up on his shoulders, which allows Rhodes to hit the Doomsday Device! AWESOME! Barrett tries to cover, but Rhodes breaks up the pin and now the heels are fighting amongst themselves to send us to our final ad break of the night.

We come back with Barrett working over Orton. Running boot to the head hits. Bryan tries to rush in, but gets caught with the Boss Man Slam for 2. Cody disposes of Barrett and nails Bryan with the Beautiful Disaster for 2. Rhodes charges and gets backdropped over the top. Barrett whips Bryan into the ropes. Bryan ducks a clothesline and opts to nail Rhodes with a suicide dive! Orton's back in and making the babyface comeback. Orton backbreaker gets 2 and Bryan kicks Orton in the head for 2. Rhodes hotshots Bryan to send him out. Rhodes hits Orton with a front suplex and climbs the turnbuckles, but gets crotched. Orton nails a top-rope superplex! Barrett tries to steal the cover and eats a top-rope headbutt from Bryan! Orton dumps Barrett and Rhodes and nails Bryan with the Hanging DDT! VIPER COIL! Barrett pulls Orton out and drops him with a DDT on the outside! Rhodes tries to pin Bryan, but Bryan reverses it into the LeBell Lock for the tap out at 20+ minutes!

WINNER: Daniel Bryan - A very good four-way match!

Post-match, Rhodes nails Bryan from behind. Rhodes turns around and eats an RKO from Orton! Hit Randy Orton's music! Orton exits and they thankfully switch back to Bryan's music. Show ends with Bryan holding up his briefcase.

FINAL THOUGHT

Does anybody think for a second that Bryan's going to win on Tuesday? Anybody? Anyone at all? No? Didn't think so.

Cocktease segment aside, this was actually a pretty good episode this week. The main event four-way was great, the tag match with Ryder, Sheamus, and the Vickie Family was very solid, and even the opener with Gabriel and Hunico was pretty good (albeit short). This is probably the best show, wrestling-wise, that I've seen in weeks.

So it's an easy thumbs up! Until next time!

I forget when, but there WAS another time when someone couldn't cash in MITB when the champ was knocked out. Or at least there was a delay in getting the "match" started because the champ couldn't compete. So this isn't making stuff up as they go along, it's actual continuity.

Ziggler vs Ryder in a ladder match at TLC? I could see this happen as a chance for both to try and prove something.

MEANWHILE....(fantasy booking/predictions alert!)

The feud between the Big Show and Mark Henry has reached a boiling point. Remember how it reached a boiling point? Inside the cage, when Henry ripped off the cage door and used it as a weapon (come to think of it, I think that started Henry down his path of being the top heel on the brand). So for a no DQ chairs match, do you NEED the title to make it hot? Nope. So on Tuesday next week, I say the Big Show comes out and Bryan WINS the match. Setting up either Show vs Henry OR a triple threat at the PPV.

Want to make this even MORE awesome (and a train wreck)? Rhodes comes out to interfere but Booker stops him. Wade comes out but Orton stops him. That plays into this fatal fourway AND sets their feuds more.

The only problem with this is if you go Big Show vs Henry, who does Bryan face for the title? Hmmmm. Either way, yes I do think Bryan has a chance on Tuesday.

OR

He cashes in MITB after losing the cage match. Dude effectively has a mulligan. Or maybe have him keep on coming close until Mania. Lots of options, and I'll stop fnatasy booking now.

That Daniel Bryan business makes no sense. Why would you wait until now when you could have done it at the PPV when he was conscious with a horribly injured ankle? It seems like a case of an Idiot Plot to me.

WWE is really screwed up with faces and heels lately. As Brandon Stroud on with leather has noted, it's hard to be interested in wrestling when the faces are using heel tactics like beating up guys to force them to give them a title match, or punting guys in the head. Now Daniel Bryan's gone back on his word to wait until Wrestlemania. His character's been neutered, and he doesn't even get an actual title reign for it. Maybe this a slow burn to a heel turn, I don't know.

There's a video up on WWE.com with Bryan saying that, in this case, he wants to beat Henry more than Main Event at Wrestlemania.

As for heels and faces, whose really to blame for this? Look no further than the fans. Randy Orton is the #1 face on Smackdown, while basically acting like the same heel he was before. He's been doing that for awhile now. The fans turned him into a face, he kept the character. You know who else has always been like that? The Rock. And Hogan too.

So really, the WWE is doing what the fans want in this case.

I should have stuck around for that main event, but after the Bryan business to start the show Cole became unbearable. I don't remember Tony Shivonee at his worst driving me away from the product.

At Survivor Series, they mentioned that Daniel Bryan wasn't in the building due to the injuries Henry had inflicted on him last week on Smackdown in the beatdown there. So there you go, it makes sense. I guess I don't blame people for tuning out the commentary sometimes, but they did cover it at the PPV.

As for being able to cash in, the difference between this time and other times in my view is that Henry was deemed medically unfit to compete earlier in the night. That would imply "not allowed to wrestle, could take legal action if forced to". In the previous cases of cashing in Money in the Bank on a downed champion, that champion had typically just competed in a match, which implies that they're medically cleared. Sure, they're not 100% after whatever beatdown they received, but you don't have a case where doctors have examined the wrestler before the show began and said he can't go. That, in my mind, explains the difference between Bryan's attempted cash-in here and all the other times people have done it before.

So the proper course of action for a paranoid champion is to ensure a doctor refuses to allow him to compete!

Yes but I bet McMahon thought it was hilarious, so they hit their key demographic.

That said, the show was actually really good. Just a solid wrestling show with very little crash tv nonsense distracting from guys trying to get over. If Raw was allowed to be booked like this, it would be a better show and probably do a lot of good for the company in a lot of desperately needed ways.

The Miz has been previously denied when trying to cash in his MitB briefcase on an unconscious Sheamus. So in this case they're being consistent.

Daniel Bryan spent the whole summer lying on his back after winning Money in the Bank, and now complaints about him finally getting a push? He looked great in that fatal four way, he got a kiss from AJ backstage, and he's main eventing a live Smackdown challenging for the World Title, and he still has Money in the Bank to cash in if he fails. Plus his beard > Ted DiBiase's Movember 'stache. It's a good time to be a D-Bry fan, I think.

I just watched a Raw from June 2010 and it was so refreshing to hear Cole and Lawler simply calling the action and talking about the wrestlers and what was going on. It kept the focus on the action and made it interesting.
Whatever they are doing now with Cole and his "character" just isn't working and it astounds me that nobody running the show can recognize that.

His hollow mockery of Bryan made me turn off the show. I didn't get very far into the Hunico match.

OK, so Ted DiBiase, rich kid heel wasn't working, so it's Ted DiBiase, tailgating face instead. The Tebowing alone almost made it work. Almost. That and beating the One Man Trailer Park. And am I the only person that likes Mahal? Aside from the lousy finisher (A full nelson slam is a transition move, period), what's to hate?

And am I crazy or was Brian Knobs in the front row?

DiBiase as a Tebow clone could be fun. Have him do nothing but headlocks and armbars the whole match, over and over, and then have him make a miraculous and improbable comeback at the end. Everyone could praise him as a great locker room leader!

Me and my friends laughed pretty hard after AJ kissed Bryan and Booker said, "Talk about a sticky situation."

Smackdown has been consistently good, I am very happy with it. J.O. is right, it is a good time to be a D-Bry fan, I think this is great.
