Last night I rewatched the "Through The Looking Glass" (the third season finale) of Lost. I really feel it is the best single episode of any TV series ever. Besides the big two events of NOT PENNY'S BOAT and "We have to go back, Kate!" the episode is crazy good with Hurley saving the day on the beach, Sayid killing someone with his legs, Walt showing up and talking Locke out of suicide, and the Rousseau/Alex reunion.
What is your favorite episode of any tv series? Also I'd have to say that "Hush" from Buffy is a close second for me.
Am I in Horseville? Because I'm hearing nothing but naysayers!
I should go deep into my memory banks because I don't watch as much as I used to.
There was an episode of The West Wing where Bartlett's secretary dies and Bartlett curses out God in Latin and puts a cigarette out on the church floor that really stuck with me.
Also, the first paintball episode of Community was brilliant.
Man, this is tough. One hand you go with the one you watch the most or you go with the one that stands out the most. Two that stick to to me are:
Graduation Day parts 1 and 2. Buffy. It caps off the brillant end to one of the best seasons on TV. You get Buffy vs. Faith, the Angel sucking Buffy dry sex scene, the Mayor walking into the library to face the gang,Willow/OZ doing it,Xander's selfishness of wanting to stay and die with his friends, Cordy/Wes' terrible kiss and probably the most heroic season on TV. "NOW!" The students vs Snake Mayor and the vampires in a streetfight where they blow up the school. Did I mention Principal Snyder gets eaten by a snake? To me every frame is amazing and I could watch it ever day of the week.
Sleeping in Light. Babylon 5. You would expect a story about the rise and fall of empires in space would have this huge battle to wrap it up. No, instead is a rather touching story of how people grow old and die. Sheridan and Delenn are just amazing through out the piece as we see Sheridan's last days with his friends and wife. All the while, we see his friends are either stuck in their current positions in life, trying to keep normal lives or too busy to be friends anymore.
Sheridan and Delenn's final goodbye is heartbreaking. Yet, the scene that tears your heart out is the destruction of the station due it like the characters are now obsolete. Yet, in the wake of its destruction, we see that there is hope and faith that what they did is bigger than the station and what is loved does endure even if its is something else. That is the story of Babylon 5 on TV and out as fans rescued this show every season. So, its a great message to have.
Honorable mentions.
The Bet-Seinfeld. Two Catherdals-West Wing, the one Goon mentioned. You are Welcome-Angel Revalotor-Sons of Anarchy Best of Both Worlds- Star Trek TNG City on the Edge of Forever-TOS
The Wee Baby Sheamus.
Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.
I would nominate The suitcase from Madmen as well.
But my favorite would be Eli's Coming from Sportsnight.
Or nearly any episode of 24
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
That the universe was formed by a fortuitous concourse of atoms, I will no more believe than that the accidental jumbling of the alphabet would fall into a most ingenious treatise of philosophy - Swift
Which Next Generation episode was the one where Picard got turned into a Borg as the cliffhanger? I don't even like Star Trek and that was epic.
I thought The Shield's series finale was damn good. Shane's murder/suicide of his family, Vic making you realise how big a scumbag he was the whole time, etc.
But nothing beats "Zoo Animals on Wheels" from Get a Life.

For a drama, I'd have to go with The West Wing--either Celestial Navigation (Josh tells a college audience about his week while Toby and Sam try to get Captain Adama out of jail before the papers find out) or In This White House (Ainsley joins the team while an African leader played by the wonderful Zakes Mokae tries to get help in dealing with his country's AIDS crisis).
For comedy, A Streetcar Named Marge (Marge and Ned Flanders star in a musical version of A Streetcar Named Desire) is pretty much the Platonic ideal of a half hour comedy. Runners-up are Lisa's Rival and You Only Move Twice.
It would be tempting to just list practically every episode of Sports Night.
Some other contenders:
Cause and Effect, Who Watches The Watchers (Star Trek TNG) It's A Good Life (The Twilight Zone--probably others I'm not thinking of right now, too) The One With Phoebe's Uterus (Friends) The Boyfriend (Seinfeld) White Tulip (Fringe) Missing Persons (Terriers) Manny Get Your Gun (Modern Family) Pro Se (Law & Order) Slumber Party (Charles In Charge--yes, I mean it)
OK, that's a little too loaded on recent shows, because they're easier to remember. Hard to place what was my favorite episode of Soap or Family Ties or Fawlty Towers.
Way too many episodes of Twilight Zone could qualify here. But since we're closing in on the holiday season I would say "The Night of the Meek" is my choice.
"Love's Labor Lost" S1x19 of ER. The most gut-wrenching hour of tv ever as Dr. Greene tries everything to save a pregnant woman and her baby.
"My Last Words" S8x2 of Scrubs. A quiet episode with Turk and JD sitting with a man who knows he is close to death.
Seconding a few things mentioned in this thread: "The Inner Light" ST:TNG "Are We Not Men?" IT Crowd
WKRP: With God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly. A close second would be the tornado episode, with Les Nessman using his instructions for the invasion of Cincy by the Red Chinese or Russians as the how to manual on how to combat the godless tornadoes.

Yes. Also, the last episode of the first season of Fringe (There's More Than One of Everything).
For the Twilight Zone--I'd probably go with The Invaders. Or, maybe The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street. Or To Serve Man. Ah hell, it's impossible to pick one Twilight Zone episode.
Diane Chambers Cheers: the episode with John Cleese as the psychiatrist
Kirstie Alley Cheers: the episode where John Allen Hill walls off the bathrooms and pool room.
Frasier--The Ski Lodge episode or the one where Niles and Frasier open a restaurant.
I think the Twilight Zone episodes are the winner. With everything else, you have to be a fan of the show. Hate Seinfeld? Then you ain't gonna like The Contest. But the Twilight Zone is more like a bunch of mini-movies.

I agree with TKOK about Through the Looking Glass, although my vote might be for that, the Season 4 finale ("The Getaway") of Dexter, or the infamous "Douche and Turd" (S8 Ep8)
