Impact started off with a good video package of last weeks doings, but a disapointing promo by Roode. I’m not gonna blame Roode for the promo as he wasn't given any good material. I would have rather he talked about how he got screwed at BFG and how he did what he had to do to win and make sure his second chance wouldn't slip through his fingers. That said, the crowd in Macon absolutely hated Roode. Sting’s promo work was pretty bad too as he stumbled all over his words and clearly couldn't’t totally remember what he was supposed to say. Going with Storm and Roode two weeks in a row is another rush job, but it’s not surprising.

Crimson Vs The Pope was a very short match mostly controlled by Pope until Crimson hit his finisher. It really doesn't make any sense to me to push a one dimensional green horn who can’t get the fans behind him over someone as charismatic as the Pope. It’s amazing how far The Pope has fallen in the last year and a half. They have really missed the ball with him. I mean think how over The Pope was in early 2010 when he was getting pushed vs how not over Crimson is even though he’s got a near year undefeated streak going.

I’m not sure what to say about that Bischoff-Gunner match. It last a minute if that and had Flair and Bischoff run in for no reason after Garrett hit Gunner with a few arm drags. Garrett is unsurprisingly not over even the piped in noises can’t camouflage that.

Sorenson Vs Zema Ion was criminally short. They got absolutely no time to tell a story. This was the second time Zema Ion was on Impact since he was in that show stealing match at Destination X. I’d bet he’s probably regretting signing with TNA. You know a one minute match ks an excellent showcase for the X Division. I don’t mind the Sorenson-Kash feud as Kash is a fine heel and adding Aries should lead to a good match at the ppv.

Mickie and Velvet Vs Gail and Madison was okay when Velvet wasn't in there. I love Velvet, but she’s so terrible in the ring as her punches are laughanble and her moves are sloppy as hell. She’s pretty much a hotter version of Kelly Kelly in the ring. Gotta laugh at Earl Hebner running out of the ring to argue with Karen while action is happening in the ring someone clearly loves making him look like an old fool. Give the guys credit they have booked Gail Kim strongly so far, so that means she job to Velvet at Turning Point.

The less said about the Jersey shore stuff the better. From what I read this Ronnie tool is contracted for two more appearances. How wonderful. Amazing that this crap match got much more time than the X division match. The sad thing is Ronnie is smoother in the ring than Rob Terry. That is not saying a lot.

Daniels Vs Styles was an excellent match up that got a good enough time for a tv match. It really is amazing that they've had two PPV matches and their two tv matches that have gotten half as much time has been much better matches. I would have liked to have seen the two of them cut pre match comments to make the match feel more special as it seemed like a blow off match. The announcing didn't help either with the Bellator guy at the announce table. I didn't love the finish, but they’re moving Daniels on to RVD and he can complain that RVD screwed him out of a win.

Abyss-Anderson-Hardy Vs Immortal was a very solid six man match that got good time and had two heat sequences on the faces. Abyss made a lot of sense as Anderson and Hardy’s partner. The crowd was really into the match as well. It was probably as lively as they were for either show in Macon.

The Main Event was really an angle more than a match after Storm got beat down backstage and collapsing seconds into the match. Roode asking if the ref he rang the bell to stop the match and when being told he didn't rolling up Storm was great dick heel move. I loved his celebration too. Sting looks incompetant by letting Storm wrestle which makes me think the Hulkster will return to help him run the company brother. Styles being named challenger for the title days before the PPV isn't gonna lead to too many buyrates and my guess that’s on purpose when they ppv does badly Hogan will go he can’t draw brother! Whether Storm is hurt or not I dunno but keeping him out a few months wouldn't be the worst thing as you can build to his big return down the road at a PPV and draw money. Hope they get that.

All in all, the show was a mixed bag. There was two really good matches, but there was also matches that got absolutely no time. I’m all for having a bunch of matches on Impact, but having eight matches and only giving a few times is not great strategy. I rather they cut down to 4-5 matches and give all the matches some time instead. That said this was not a bad show and the second hour imo was pretty damn strong. There is enough things on the show to like to continue watching and peak my interest if only they cut the Bischoff and Jersey shore nonsense out.

I love what they are doing with roode and storm.

I think they have truly made stars of Roode and Storm now. Yes, it has been rushed, but I think this story really just getting started. Two new, homegrown talents are the focal point of the show, so I give them credit. Storm looked like he had been shot in the face when he stumbled out there. Well done, now don't f*ck it up.

I agree the show is so much better with Hogan off the show and Roode and Storm as the focal points. The ratings have been pretty good without Hogan on the show. The ratings had been flat lining at 1.05 with Hogan and Sting as the focal points heading into BFG.

I think Roode as a heel world champ is going to work out well for TNA. I was at one of their west coast house shows a couple of weeks ago, and Roode got huge heel heat. And that was a week before the match where he turned heel even aired. Similarly, Storm came across as a big deal in person as well.

Neither of them looked as good at those roles on Impact this week, which is a good sign - that means they have improved their performances since the Macon, GA taping.

Roode's talk about being the leader of a "New Generation" struck me as vintage Russo, so I got a good laugh out of that.

Pope looked good this week. He lost, but only barely. He'd benefit from an alliance with Generation Roode. Crimson vs. Morgan makes me slightly interested in seeing Turning Point. I expect Crimson to win, but its nice to see him up against a more challenging adversary than Samoa Joe.

The Gunner match evaporated his leftover credibility from his wins over Anderson and Sting this summer. Oh well. I hope Bischoff has a daughter he can debut as the new Stephanie to go along with Super Shane O'Bischoff. The McMahon family drew good ratings with the first few years of their family feuds, so emulating them could work out well.

Zima Ion lives!

I enjoyed the Jersey Shore segments. I wish Eric Young would defend his belts more often.

Bloody James Storm challenging for the title before fainting was an awesome visual. Roode's rollup victory was fun.

AJ getting granted the PPV title bout in the last minutes of Impact was a fun callback to last year when Matt Morgan signed himself to the Turning Point title match in the last minutes of the go-home show as well.

All in all, it was an ok show.

I think when even Scott Keith is praising Impact Wrestling on a weekly basis you know the show has improved. The last three months has been the best period of Impacts since the Scott Damore(sp?) era back in '05-06. I think I rather see the Jersey shore guys and Garrett Bischoff on my tv than Ken Anderson or Abyss jmo.

Another thing I so love Roode as a heel. He is just an awesome heel and has more to play off unlike when he was a face and had no one to play off. He is such a natural heel. I personally loved his promo and actions on impact. For once TNA is actually making new stars between him and storm. Keep it up TNA. TNA is still pretty terrible at getting ppl stoked for their pay per views and wanting to buy them, but I never do anyway so I take what I can get in the overall good shows on Thursdays.
