Considering Joe was going to be Umaga, you are right to have little faith in the WWE. See, this is where Punk's change storyline could have worked for Joe. Bring him in as a guy WWE normally would give a stupid gimmick and let him be himself as the ass kicker. Have Punk or Joe cut a promo about the Umaga gimmick and how out of date the WWE is. Have Joe make Cena or Orton tap out then go from there instead of falling back on the try and failed idea of HHH pushes equal good ratings.

I don't see this happening, partly because they don't like to bring up dead wrestlers, but mostly because Umaga was awesome.

Yeah, I don't get this comment. It didn't last a horribly long time, but while it lasted Umaga was a pretty good gimmick.

Hey, you can look for reasons to push somebody or you can look for reasons to bury somebody. They relish the second one. I think Morrison is the only guy in wrestling history to do an injury comeback grudge feud and lose all but one of his matches. Tiffany was only a percentage of the public problem that Melina was and McIntyre went from Chosen One to chosen to be tossed from battle royals in five seconds. They made Swagger a jobber while he was holding their world title because he took a nap backstage. They put two years of equity into MVP as a future main event heel and then they drove him out of the company because he was a smartass to the drug test dickwatcher.

Yeah, Umaga's dead and was very well-liked and they didn't even acknowledge his death when it happened because it wasn't their fault, man, so they're probably not going to be like "remember that guy Umaga what a terrible(?) act that was."

IIRC the story was not so much that Joe was supposed to be Umaga but that Joe was so hot at the time and someone pitched that they could make their own big bad Samoan. Umaga did fantastic for a few years so there are worse things to be, but they didn't understand that Joe didn't become the hottest guy in wrestling for a stretch because he was a wild Samoan. But between his weight and his prior reputation for being good, I'm sure WWE would treat him less as an Umaga and more as a fat Kaval.

I fear they'd tie him to the Usos.

Was it JR who had, essentially, the "no fattys" rule that made Roadkill and Blue Meanie stay offcamera and cut weight? If he's gone as the VP for Talent, does that criteria remain?

Well, JR loved Terry Gordy and Dick Murdoch and Husky Harris, so it's a Vince and Kevin Dunn dictum from the top that permeates the thought process there. Takeshi Morishima is essentially Asia Joe and Vince thought he was "unmarketable" and "disrespected the company" by coming to his tryout with his body type. Husky got too fat to be on Raw. Piggy James, Fat Ass Molly Holly, jumproping Rosa Mendes. Even Ross himself's weight is one the many, many things wrong with him in their eyes.

The Brodus Clay video packages are great but I'll be interested to see how long his next push lasts before someone goes "eww."

... was Vickie ever really fat?

I love fat wrestlers. The fat rule is a strange one, because some of Vince's best heels in the old days were fat and even during the days of the fat wrestler they still punished guys like Adrian Adonis when he blimped out.

I understand you don't want someone to stroke out during a match, but Dick Murdoch was a fucking badass and would knock the shit out of the WWE's version of a badass like Triple H or Mason Ryan.

Like CRZ and others have pointed out the brass at the WWE are some of the biggest bullies around, which makes the Star campaign all the more fun.

The problem with Clay is you already have a monster oversized heel in Mark Henry.. Unless they unite them together as a tag team once Henry's reign is over. And it's a tag team I would love to see, it's been a while since we've had two ass kickers as tag team champs.

And like other rumors said (as well as me), the script for this show was all screwed up and just thrown together. But perhaps by design as they were able to get rid of the 3 man announcing team, get rid of HHH as boss, and get Miz/Truth back on TV. So perhaps they threw this show under the bus to get back on track for the next few weeks.

And finally, wasn't it good to have a show end without Cena as the main focus? That's two shows in a row Cena hasn't been the focus.

Yeah I'm glad the announcing won't be a problem anymore my man.

Moreso I wanted to post Arron Asham doing the international signal for the GTS after dogging Beagle.

Samoa Joe came 15 years to late. He would have been a God in ECW and when he signed a bloated WCW contract he would have maimed Johnny Swinger, Barry Darsow and Alex Wright on WCW Saturday Night.

It's a shame HHH couldn't sic Joe on Punk as a dismissal of Punk's bodybuilder complaint. That can still work. Joe would make a good addition to the thin SD roster. Just not as Sin Cara Gordo.

I don't see how people point at this as a reference to Punk.
The 'take a nap' sign has been around forever, hasn't it?
If anything Punk is stealing stuff from nursery rhymes. Or at least a Dutch one.

Anyways, I figured the JR thing would become an angle, then got confused when it turns out he didn't know about this.

Those tweets by JR are awesome. Good to see he hasn't become cynical because of the recent (well..several years of) stupidness.

I wouldn't have linked them but for the additional "penalty declined."
