I'm all over this based on very little seen so far. Joss Whedon writing and directing an Avengers film is ... I'm astounded that sentence can exist as fact.

Originally posted by Big BadYeah, I would think the Wasp would be a very easy character to translate to the big screen. A snotty, upper-class rich girl who accepts the responsibility of being a superhero and gradually becomes a smart, canny member of the team? This kind of character is right in Joss Whedon's wheelhouse....hell, it basically IS Joss Whedon's wheelhouse.
And her power is that she has wings and gets really small. Hank Pym wears a silly helmet and talks to ants. He also get small, but sometimes big, and sometimes he has wings too. That's what's not translatable. Kid's cartoons are not the same as mainstream blockbusters. Pokemon is (was?) huge with kids, but will never have a live action movie that goes over big with the adult market. The Avengers that are being sold to the public in this film are the ones that can be made into badass action heroes. It would be very cool to have Hank & Janet in cameos or supporting roles as SHIELD scientists or something, but their superhero personas just wouldn't work.

Sorry if I spoiled anything for you. It's not in the trailers or anything, but the filmmakers have confirmed the Skrulls in several interviews. I didn't think it would be classed as a spoiler given that the production are openly talking about it.
A cool note - The Log Cabin Shop provided the black powder used for explosions in The Avengers. It's owned by some distant relatives of mine. I remember going through there a number of times as a kid, even got to fire a musket on their firing range.
Can't wait to see this film and see what sections of Cleveland I can pick out. One of my Facebook friends was downtown for some of the filming, he got a few nice shots of areas done up to look like New York and Germany.
