The W - One Question... - What musical instruments do you play (and if you do, what instruments do you have)? This thread has 4 referrals leading to it
I've been playing percussion instruments at Church for about 13 or 14 years now, and in the process I've accumulated some gear.
- Latin Percussion (LP) Aspire Bongos. - LP Aspire Congas (EXCEPTIONAL sound from these). - I just bought myself an LP Cajon for an incredible deal. - I have a djembe, but it's pretty junky.
As one can likely see at this point, I have a certain brand loyalty to LP.
The Church I play at also has an electronic drum kit which I've been using, a Yamaha. It's on it's last legs though, so I'm hoping they splurge for another one. Some day I hope to get my own E-Drum kit.
Also something random; I have a kick pedal with a tambourine mounted on it.
How about everyone else?
After a (very) long hiatus, I have begun to write again. And this time, I'm not alone!

I "just" sing, but I'm a pretty good singer. Tried to learn the piano; got frustrated with it. I shake a couple of mean maracas when I have them in my hands, though.

Mostly, I play guitar and sing, with some dabbling on the piano.
I have a Gibson ES-335 hollow body and a Steinway upright piano (which is a blast to deal with when moving). I have an acoustic guitar that is in pretty bad shape right now.
I was in a fairly decent second-teir cover band until my recent out-of-state move. We gigged a few times a month up - mostly bars, with the occasional private party and wedding thrown in.
I was a drummer and tympanist in high school. I have a cheap electronic drum set (Alesis DM6) I occasionally mess around with today, but I'm pretty sloppy anymore and definitely not serious about it.
I've played the flute for about 23 years now. I used to be good, but I've just dabbled since high school and I've lost a lot. Started playing piccolo in high school, too, and tried saxophone for a bit for jazz band. I've been trying to learn guitar for awhile but all I can do is clunk out a couple of chords and not with any semblance of rhythm.
Piano. Played clarinet and saxophone in high school band, but that was ages ago.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball
I don't play anything very well, but I do collect Depression-era zithers and some of them are fun. (Here's a Flickr gallery -- the Marxophone is the best.) I also play a little autoharp, flute, marimba, stuff like that.
Played clarinet back in the dark ages of junior high.
Picked up drums in college.
Taught myself the bass guitar after college to play in a band. We were called "Sweet Pain." Lead singer loved KISS. We played out but never got a dime, so we were never deemed professional.
The bass guitar has now been passed down to my oldest son (almost 16 years old) who now plays in a band with his high school friends. They've played out a couple times and are really bitten with the bug to play out.
The only instrument I can play with any level of confidence is the ukulele. My mum gave me a flying V style one for Christmas a while back.
My girlfriend also got me an orange melodica a couple of years later. I have my dad's old guitar and bass sitting in the corner of my room, as well as a tiny Yamaha Portasound PSS-190 keyboard my nan gave me when i was little (I only really started experimenting with the keyboard after playing lots of melodica, it's amazing how easy it seemed to play once you've got used to a keyed instrument that also requires you to constantly blow into it until you pass out). Last year my girlfriend's sister bought me a harmonica.
So I'm building up quite a nice collection despite the fact I've never bought an instrument for myself. I make songs just for fun from time to time: http://soundcloud.com/obi-d1 as well as getting together with my more talented buddies for some collaborations: http://soundcloud.com/carpet-dredd-ft-snacks though they also make lots of Jazz and 10 minute techno songs when I'm not around to lower the tone.
I like Karlos' gallery; I often have to remind myself that I don't have the room, money or skill to be buying loads of quirky instruments.
