Announced via several websites and Rey's own twitter account, he's going under the knife for knee surgery. No timetable given except for "months".

Apparently his knee got nuked last Monday off of the baseball slide.

Ouch. A shame. Good thing there are a couple of Sin Caras to fill the luchador kiddie hero void.

Rey's been having knee troubles throughout the year and kept carrying on like a trooper. It's a shame that he'll probably be out for the Mexico tour and miss his chance at a hero's welcome.

So the storyline reason will likely be the post-match Del Rio attack last Monday, meaning...yeah, the seemingly neverending feud between Rey and Del Rio will pick up right where it left off upon Rey's return.

There's a wide open spot for that #3 babyface spot right now with Rey out. Kofi, Morrison, and Bourne have been running in circles for a while now, so I guess it's finally time to elevate one of them.

EDIT:

I'm actually watching The Very Best of WCW Monday Nitro on Netflix and it's really interesting to watch this Rey/Jericho match from '98 with Rey wearing a big knee brace and favoring his knee after a suicide dive. How many knee injuries has Rey had over the years?

That's bad timing, Rey had really been stepping up and bringing it lately. Maybe, he knew the knee was about done. I was more into Rey lately than I had been in years.

Hopefully he'll heal up by March, since it would suck for Rey to miss out on yet another Wrestlemania due to injury.

I think it's safe to say that Rey's knees are being held together by spit and a prayer by this point. He's had at least a dozen knee problems in his long career, and probably more that we never heard reported.

Sucks. Rey had been on fire since he went to Raw. Probably the best worker in WWE all year.

The Sable lawsuit presents plenty of examples of Bradshaw's 'leadership'. And of course, the sloppy powerbombs as punishment to Saturn was another example of his 'leadership'.
