I feel terrible for JR. The poor guy wants to actually call the matches, but Cole and Lawler are too busy being blithering idiots talking over him about things that have nothing to do with the actual match.

And speaking of Lawler, he needs to cut it the fuck out with the "Vickie is fat LOL" jokes. It makes him look like an asshole, not to mention that it completely devalues their anti-bullying campaign.

Show was jumbled. Good in places, bad in others, and kind of confusing during the Punk/Nash face-off. It felt like they gave both guys a script that didn't make a ton of sense, and neither of them were very into it until they started really getting in each other's faces. You could really see Nash start to wake up about halfway through that bit, and the line about Punk looking like a short-order cook at a Waffle House was pretty great. I like that they've set up a bit of a mystery as to who screwed Punk, with three viable possibilities. I say it winds up being HHH, just because that would lead to a match, but that may be me being overly logical. I also think it's smart for them to redirect Punk away from the title for a little bit. Underdog Punk is a character who I think is actually hurt by having the belt. He should almost always be chasing, and this is a good way to have "the establishment" keeping him away from what should rightfully be his.

I actually think it's more likely that it's Johnny Ace trying to undermine Hunter's authority because he's still a double secret agent working for Vince.

There were things to like about Raw and things just to shake your head at. Punk/Nash was awesome mainly for Punk. I have heard people say Nash is greater than Punk and those people are embarrassing. Punk seemed like a new fresh toy to the beat up Nash they got one good line. History also refutes Nash since it was Lex Luger who got the big contract started for the boys even though they resented him much like today's golfers and Tiger Woods. I hate the idea of Cena chasing the title. I also found it ironic that Cena cried about honor when two weeks ago he barely let Rey hold the belt before going after him. I did enjoy ADR/Rey even though it felt like we have been here a hundred times. There is no amount of intrigue that would get me excited for a Cliq reunion as well as having Steph back full time.

At least Miz stated he was going after the title after his commercial which came after another series of commercials. I love the chair spot with Morrison and R-Truth. I don't see why people think Truth is dead in the water after losing a match in a feud he has dominated in. Props for Swagger for bringing up the Heenan family. Other than that we go from interesting to borderline red hot Cena/Punk to mud in the waters of Cena/ADR and Punk/Nash. I do admire the naive notion that people have with Punk seeing the belt again before Mania. Its so cute.

I shall call him Alberto Del Yada Yada Yada.

His character bores me to tears. There is no variation week to week, except maybe the color of the car. He is incredibly one-dimensional, which is magnified by the undpredictability of a CM Punk promo. Can we drop the driving a car thing? - it's been a year. We get that he's rich. It feels like it takes forever combined with Richardo's into.

Punk 1
Nash 0

I didn't think it would be this one-sided, but I belly-laughed at the reading of the text.

I love the notion that Jared from Subway walks around with a footlong sandwich in his left hand at all times.

A little black leather and red lipstick does wonders for Beth and Nathalya. I'm intriguied.

What.

In the blue hell.

Was that Vickie/Dolph/Swagger/Riley segment? Vickie's business with the hat was bizarre (Better than her just screaming at ringside? I guess, but still.). The finisher was botched. Swagger's backstage speech to Vickie was stilted and flat. No one looked good here.

If Swagger and Vickie are gonna drum out Dolph, just have him ambush Dolph. Get to it. Don't drag out -- further -- this endlessendlessENDLESS love/hate relationship.

I really liked Morrison's conclusion to his match with Truth but not the prolonged efforts of the announcers to say this was a long time coming. Truth cleanly pinned Morrison just last week. We're not THAT dim.

Punk won his segment with Nash, and I think Nash was intentionally in a low gear, trying to play the sincere old guy who got hoodwinked. He looks uncannily like Michael Hayes now.

The title match was strong, and that ending worked for both guys. I liked Cena's anger, and I welcome the WWE's general direction with him and Punk. The light, purely G-rated tone is getting more attitude-y.

The Punk/Stephanie match should be pretty awesome...

They should hire CM Punk's sister to replace Melina in the official WWE chats during the next draft show. That would be a huge upgrade.

I agree with Tracker on this one. We were seeing Kevin Nash, professional actor, last night playing his Serious Guy character, with a dash of role of out of touch older guy added to the routine. I actually appreciate that Nash started slow so Punk could cruise to the first round victory without having to break out the good material yet. I suspect we'll still get crazy Nash in the weeks to come.

I don't want to see anyone out of work in this economy, but I am shamefully excited about the career retrospective threads for these inevitable firings. When Otunga's time comes, whoever starts the thread should be leaning towards a "Monster.com Me" thread title. I'm still mad that I didn't get to start the Finlay thread so it could have been titled "My Name Is Finlay And I Love To File (For Unemployment)".

It's obvious that Swagger can't cut a good promo off-the-cuff ... and I agree with whomever said that whole thing was just strange ...

So is the Miz now feuding w/ Jared from Subway? Surely they can come up with something for the guy I feel is one of the top 3 ambassadors in the company.

Otunga & lil' Hennig might be the worst tag team in a decade ... in the immortal words of Cleveland Brown ... "turrrible".

I was seriously thinking that this would be the first Raw not to feature a John Cena appearance in who knows how long?
He didn't appear until after 11.
The guy surely must have a Cal Ripken-like streak going, even when fired.

I agree that it was Steph stealing HHH's phone. Supposedly the text asked Nash to take out *whoever* won the Cena/Punk match. It would make sense that Steph was masterminding it because she's pissed at the roles Cena and Punk both played in getting Vince dismissed as CEO. (Punk by being awesome and playing Vince and Cena by losing the WWE title match at MitB.)

It seems like that makes perfect sense, so I anxiously await the swerve...

If the last two months have taught us anything it's that their plans for the world title are very well thought out in advance and etched in stone. But I don't see any reason why Punk wouldn't be the babyface in the Raw Wrestlemania title match (be it against Del Rio or Miz or whomever).

I believe the old guy on the headset told Vickie and Dolph to start messing with J.R.'s hat, because bullying is bad. As is his custom, Ross didn't sell it, as he knows how to B.A. Star.

I really like the idea of the Vickie Family. A race to see who can break up faster between them and Cody & Ted.

A Swagger/Ziggler team could be much awesome, but I cringe at another Vickie triangle. And this new round would feature Lawler making the same fat/old jokes that Ziggler rightfully slammed last night.

Swagger + Ziggler - Vickie = a happy Tracker.

As I wrote earlier, it could also make sense that it was Johnny Ace, as both have seriously disrespected him in the past couple weeks. And he was Vince's right-hand man, so he'd have some motivation to "get" the guy who played a role in getting Vince dismissed, too.

I tend to think it'll end up being Stephanie, but I don't think it's cut-and-dried and obvious as to who it is at the moment. It could be Stephanie, could be Johnny Ace, could be HHH, or could even be Nash working on his own.

When they eventually go after Evan/Kofi or the Usos for the tag belts, I think they'll get great heel heat.

I think Vickie can be very effective as a manager. I just want her to be packaged in a different way.
