That'd be some true, meta-angsty and 4th wall breaking fun and be radically different than anything they've ever tried... that'd be a real attempt to connect with a new, interactive audience in 2011.

Y'see, that's the scenario I'd love to see, but hooooo boy would that be a longshot in my view.

There are some people on the board who've speculated that since Punk mentioned Ring of Honor two weeks ago, that WWE and ROH have some kind of working agreement we don't know about. If that's true, then having him appear at ROH events with the WWE Championship for awhile might be possible, but...

I don't know. I have a hard time envisioning a viable endgame. The way I see it, here are the possibilities:

A. Punk wins the title from Cena, averts any potential Money in the Bank cashing-in opportunities; leaves with the WWE Championship around his waist. Defends it in New Japan Pro Wrestling, defends it in Ring of Honor. Maybe he even loses it in one of those promotions, and Vince immediately signs the new champion and brings him to WWE. (But it'd have to be a big freakin' name! You don't really think Austin Aries would become the new WWE Champion, do you?)

B. Punk wins the title from Cena, loses it to one of the Money in the Bank winners.

C. Cena defeats Punk and retains the title. (Which the audience will shit all OVER, being in Chicago. Hell, Punk was more over in Cena's own hometown than Cena was!)

I don't think WWE fully realized that they were creating this kind of a sensational storyline that would get their fanbase this excited.

Expanding upon Justin's take on Punk as a face in the Raw thread, I'm thinking they might switch the belt to Punk and have a Vince-backed Del Rio steal it the same night. Punk disappears for his holiday for a coupla months (maybe even 'til the Rumble), Del Rio gets his title reign, and Punk comes back to do a possible WrestleMania title win to avenge the screwjob.

I don't think there was any extra meaning in Punk mentioning New Japan or ROH, neither is a threat to Vince. Basically he needed to name a specific promotion to sound like he was shooting, but wouldn't mention TNA since they are the closest thing WWE has to competition.

I like to believe Punk didn't mention TNA not because of competitive reasons but, even in storyline, Punk is not stupid enough to go to TNA (again.)

Randy Orton v. Christian- Orton, to end this nonsense once and for all

Raw MITB-Alberto Del Rio
Smackdown MITB-Cody Rhodes
Henry v. Show-Mark Henry
Kelly v. Brie-Kelly

Cena v. Miz-No idea. Truly no idea. I think, after all this build on a B-Show, Cena wins.

CM Punk vs Cena - I'm picking Cena, this plays out just like Batista's last match (when Batista was also getting incredible heel heat), Punk gives final statement on Monday's Raw, then leaves the WWE for a while.

Orton vs Christian - I'm going against my gut and picking Christian. Keeping the belt on Orton really isn't doing anything right now.

Raw MiTB - Del Rio

Smackdown MiTB - The big upset and I'll say Wade Barrett. I don't know why they've killed off Wade over the past couple of months, but this would immediately put him back on top.

Mark Henry vs Big Show - Just like all their other matches, this one will be awful and hopefully very short. Big Show killed Del Rio's push for a while but I don't think the WWE will allow Show to kill Henry's push. Mark Henry via a bodyslam

Women's title - I don't care but Kelly Kelly for the hell of it.

Tough to pick a dark match, but I'm saying Dolph has to be on the card somehow. Can't think of a viable opponent for him right now though. Maybe he'll just get to run his flap.

If we're going to entertain such a scenario, the likely endgame would not be an outside guy winning the title and getting signed by Vince, but Vince sending one of his guys into "hostile territory" to win the title back.

WWE Championship: John Cena v. CM Punk- Normally any match with Cena is a forgone conclusion of who I would pick to win but this is a tough choice. I think I will go with Punk winning the belt but for the second year in the row, will someone cash in their MITB on the same PPV? I will also say the Raw MITB winner will cash in and Punk leaves Chicago empty-handed.

World Heavyweight Title: Randy Orton v. Christian- As many opportunities Christian has recieved in title matchs now, I still think Orton retains in this match.

Raw MITB- I will go with the most obvious choice and say ADR wins and ultimately cashes in. However, I will say R-Truth as a dark horse candidate for winning the match.

Smackdown MITB- I agree with Geemoney that Sheamus is the obvious choice but I will also say Barrett wins here to once again put credibility on the former IC champ.

Big Show v. Mark Henry- Seeing how Henry has had a dominating fixture on the feud, I will go with Show winning this one.

Divas Title: ZZZZZZZ....wake up and it's Kelly Kelly still retaining.

Punk - this match, IMO, is the most anticipated match in WWE since the Taker-HBK retirement vs streak match. You don't get the Big Fight feel very often from WWE.

Orton - Sorry Christian, I love ya, but your B show main event run is at an end.

Sheamus - For some reason, I see a face turn in his future. His recent bad assery won't get booed for long. He's not the chicken shit WWE Champ that ran from Nexus anymore.

Mysterio

Henry

Kelly

All of the cashing in scenarios are too tough to call, luckily I don't have to.

I agree that a face turn is coming, I disagree that running from a seven on one or two beatdown is chicken shit.

Christian has screwed himself with his last set of stipulations. All the Smackdown MITB winner has to do is clock Christian with the briefcase to transfer the title, and then pin the prone champion.

Fantasy booking: Punk wins with the help of his Ring of Honorable friends like Cabana, Here, and Claudio. A new NEW Nexus!

Cold reality: Cena wins, most of us act outraged and surprised. It pains me in my soul and testes to cite lotjx, but this time last year Nexus was a big can't miss thing before Cena hulked up and it missed.

Kelly Kelly vs Brie Bella (Divas Championship)
Kelly squashes Brie.

Big Show vs Mark Henry
Mark Henry wins when Show is unable to continue, possibly with help from someone else who Show can feud with while Henry moves on to other things.

Raw MITB Ladder Match
Kofi Kingston wins as a thank you for filling in so nicely for Shelton Benjamin.

Smackdown MITB Ladder Match
Cody Rhodes has been so awesome as of late that they surely see him as deserving of a shitty title reign.

Randy Orton vs Christian (World Heavyweight Championship)
Christian wins and then loses the title to Cody Rhodes less than five minutes later.

John Cena vs CM Punk (WWE Championship)
The bell rings and Cena immediately kicks Punk in the nuts, drawing the disqualification. Cena grabs the mic and informs Vince that he was right, Cena can't beat Punk. Then Cena walks out of the arena with his title and job intact.

Alternatively, Punk beats Cena for the title. Punk goes on a big spiel attacking the WWE Universe. Kofi interrupts to thunderous applause. Kofi becomes the first ever MITB holder to cash in and lose. Punk is about to leave when Vince comes out and tells him his contract isn't up until midnight and he has another match. Vince brings out the only WWE Superstar who is undefeated in world title matches... Kelly Kelly. Punk is laughing so hard that Kelly is able to roll him up and Vince rings the bell, claiming to have counted the three count himself. Kelly Kelly is your new WWE Champion.

Edit: Oh, and at some point in time, Kane & Rey Mysterio encounter each other in the hallway and Rey flips off Kane because of what happened at the last MITB PPV.

Random Fact: Kane and CM Punk are the only 2 former champions to win MITB out of the 8 MITB matches so far.

I had no idea this PPV was taking place right down the road from me. I chalk that up less to poor promotion on the WWE's part and more to the fact that I haven't had cable for the past two months and have gotten my wrestling news entirely from this board.

I just watched this nifty video package and I've got to assume that CM Punk will be coming out a big winner at the end of the show or WWE is wasting an opportunity on something that might blow up big time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlzIr6pUTLA

To me, it totally paints CM Punk as the protagonist of everybody who's gotten bored with the WWE under the John Cena banner. Even if it doesn't shake out to a clear good/bad guy distinction (and it would be more compelling if it didn't, at least for a while), CM Punk has got to have a big victory to give him and his new-found voice credit and keep this ball rolling strong.

The entire idea that this contract "end date" is real and not a plot point is ludicrous. Maybe such a date did exist in the past, but it clearly has been negotiated and Punk will not be going anywhere and thus waste all this momentum. Otherwise this story line would not exist, much less be so prominently featured. Though, admittedly, I haven't watched WWE in years so I have no idea where they are at right now in terms of make sound decisions.

I can't decide whether to buy this thing or not.

I have the bad feeling that both of the MitB's are going to be kinda car wrecks. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised by being wrong about that though!

On the Raw side, ADR, Swagger & Riley have no business being involved in a ladder match, & I predict they're just going to get in the way out there. Miz or ADR are the only ones they'd give the win to, & neither one of those outcomes gets me too excited.

On the SD side, I do think Kane, Sheamus & Barrett can stay enough out of the way, but I'm not sold that enough of the "flippier" guys are solid enough, & really, experienced enough to deal with the inevitable stuff going wrong. I can't see them giving the win to anybody other than Sheamus, with an outside chance of Barrett.

I have not the teeniest interest in Big Show trying to do something with Mark Henry or the Kelly/Bella debacle. (As a matter of fact, having women who can actually work, but not using them, actively annoys me.)

Christian/Orton (again) could be really good (again), although I wouldn't be too pleased by a(nother) junk finish.

But, the Punk storyline is the most interesting thing they've done in forever.

Is that going to be enough to "talk me in the door"? Can't decide.

-------
Love that WWE has put up pictures of CM Punk as a Cena gangster (wwe.com).

I think they've got their big ladder matches down to a science. A lot of thought and structure goes into them to the point where you can't really screw them up. I expect Riley to mess something up just for consistency's sake though.

K2 over Bella

Mark Henry over Big Show

Christian over Randy Orton via Eddie-like chicanery. So he can win without really winning you know.

Kane wins SD's Money in the Bank.

Alberto Del Rio wins Raw's Money in the Bank.

Punk beats Cena. Vince forces Kane to use his briefcase. Because Kane was the one who used his briefcase later that same night at MitB 2010, it makes sense for Kane to try again. Kane beats up Punk for a long time with power moves, but Punk still gets a rollup or some other flukey win.

Vince next sends Del Rio to cash in his briefcase. Because Kane has damaged Punk to the point of exhaustion, it will be easier to buy ADR using the armbar almost instantly and getting Punk to tap out to win the belt.

ADR becomes the Raw champ and feuds with Cena (oh yeah, Vince will not honor the "you're fired" stip with Cena) at Summerslam.

It factored into my predictions too, but why does Vince need to order a MITB winner to cash in their shot? He runs the company and makes the rules. He's given impromptu title matches in the past. He can send in 50 guys if he wants.

Well, I'm going under the assumption that the SD MitB winner should not be allowed to use their shot against the Raw/WWE Title champ. I know, I know, the brands mingle all the time, but in the context of MitB PPV's (of which there is one so far) the brands have remained separate.

I would say that Vince might need to be the authority figure to force this kind of (unwritten?) rule change.
