World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of WWE SmackDown Superstar Chavo Guerrero as of today, June 25, 2011. We wish Guerrero the best in all future endeavors.
wow, maybe its cause I havent watched in a little bit but iam shocked he has been let go.
Not really shocking to me. He's had one job of importance in the last 1-2 years, and that was to make Sin Cara look good, which he failed. Heads were going to roll.
Here's everything Chavito said on his release. He's as happy as gays in New York today.
@mexwarrior:
"Yes, it's true. My release is the big news I was talking about. But let's get something straight. I asked for my release. I was just tired of not being used correctly. Just cuz u can make other ppl look good, doesn't mean they should just have u lose to them. The same thing happened to Eddie. After being champ, they still had him working mid card status. Being a Guerrero, we've been taught since diapers to get the most out of ppl & matches. It's our gift, but also our curse. WWE has always used us to make other ppl look good. It all comes down to being happy. I was not happy in WWE anymore. I had a smile on my face last night though when I got my release though! now it's time for me to start being a Guerrero again, and start kicking ass again, be able to tell stories in the ring like u know we can. win or lose I will never go back to the place WWE put me in. I will never go back to being under utilized and watching ppl who suck get bigger "pushes" than me! Thank u to all of u who stuck by me & kept reminding me, I was better than that! stay tuned.. Big things coming!! Now I will really be able to entertain u! like me or hate me, 1 thing I have always tried to do is entertain u and give u fans your $ worth. Even if my hands were tied most of the time. I love u all and can't wait for the future!! So happy. :)"
A little surprised by the Eddie comment, not that he is wrong, but I am a little surprised. You know TNA will probably get him and we will make fun of it, but if I can't think of a better way to introduce then at the X-Division PPV. Or he goes back to his roots in Mexico. Either way, I don't think he is wrong about why he wants to quit, but I don't know if I would burn that bridge with Vickie and Eddie's daughter still employed there.

I have never liked Chavo since Eddie passed. It is just hard for me to respect anyone who would stay with a company that disgraced a relative's death in multiple angles.
To be fair Eddie asked to drop the belt, and felt he couldn't handle the pressure. I think he was well-used after he won the title, especially that feud with Mysterio. As for Chavo, how exactly, at his age, does he feel he should be used? I've been a critic of how he was mishandled in the past, but at this point is it worth burning a bridge with WWE to have better matches elsewhere? And where is elsewhere? It seems odd. With Titan he could have transitioned into a behind-the-scenes role after his in-ring career ended. The focus should be on best option long-term for supporting your family when you're forty years old, shouldn't it?
I'm your Papi was good? I don't think so. Prior to that Rey/Eddie as tag champions then hated rivals was great. The illegitimate son thing took it off the rails. Eddie was not used well after he dropped the title. To be fair, I didn't like the way he lost the title either and then jobbed out to a returning Kurt Angle. Eddie should have been made a bigger deal also, we didn't need the 20 minute rambling JBL promos during that time either.
I think Chavo stayed on with WWE mainly for how bad financially Eddie left Vickie and the kids. Eddie was well known to blow money left and right. We all love Eddie, but he didn't think ahead for his family. Sometimes we have to bite our tongue for a higher cause and I would expect this was why. Also, if Chavo did make a stink about it, they would have taken the PR hit and fired him.
Chavo can be used better then fighting Hornswoggle and being the scapegoat for HHH's errors with Sin Cara. He can be the veteran mid-card guy who tags with younger talent to help get them over or be given a Rocky push for one of the titles. They could have done with him and still could. As for the behind the scenes role, who knows after the Sin Cara fiasco if that was even an option.

He was the last one left, right (outside of Arn & Dean in their agent roles)? Is Jamie Noble still an agent/trainer?
Well I could understand him wanting out after being booked as a joke for years but why now and not years ago? I mean that Hornswoggle feud was just tortous and career killing. I recall him flipping out on twitter at people that made fun of him over him. He could be a nice addition to the X division but that's about it. If tjey did nothing with Matt Hardy I don't see them doing much with Chavo.

Don't forget about referee Charles Robinson.

And Rey Rey.
But he didn't have his contract picked up with the sale of WCW. He came aboard later on.
See, I've always thought that it wasn't Chavo stayed in WWE to help out Vicky after Eddie died as much as WWE was worried about potential (legal) problems and kept Chavo around longer than they were otherwise interested in him just to head those off.
WWE could've done X, Y and Z with Chavo, but they could do anything with anyone, and they specifically seemed to have no interested in doing anything with Chavo for a long time.

Have you seen Chavo Guerrero matches? He's not working an X-Division style, or anything close to it in a decade in a half. He is small, you have that right.
Also, resigned/fired, he's probably got a no-compete and will not be showing up in TNA tomorrow.
Or he goes back to his roots in Mexico.
This came up before, but Chavo barely wrestled in Mexico. The Guerrero family promotion was based in the El Paso/Ciudad Juarez area, but that area was dead when Chavo was starting out. This is a bit like Harry Smith quitting WWE to go back and wrestle in Stampede.
I think if this was a year ago, he'd definitely show up in AAA a few times (see: Carlito's half effort performance earlier this year), but their money is going to be spent on TNA wrestlers for the rest of the year. Maybe down the road, but I'd bet against him showing up there any time soon.

FWIW, Chavo's mentioned in recent interviews that Vicky and the Guerreros are estranged. He didn't like the idea of Eddie's daughter being in the wrestling business and thought Eddie wouldn't like the idea either.
