I would say that Grant Morrison is both one of the best and one of the worst writers in comics. His stuff is incredibly hot and cold. To me, he seems to write two kinds of stories: insanely bizarre existential tales, and badass comic book-ery.
Extreme examples of both sides: The Invisibles and his JLA run.
I love when Morrison gets down with comics and writes classic superhero stories. I do not like his weird stuff. Sometimes these two styles mix well and you get Animal Man (loved it). Other times they don't and you get Batman RIP (could barely read it).
But, overall, I'm a fan of Grant Morrison. All Star Superman alone should cement him as one of the modern legends of comics. Other smaller-scale stuff like We3 and Doom Patrol fill out his body of work very nicely.
I also love Damien Wayne. I don't think having him be Robin to Bruce's Batman will be nearly as interesting as the Damien/Dick dynamic, but I am glad he is not being booted. He is a little piece of shit and sometimes I want to reach into the page and snap his tiny little neck (though I'm sure I'd lose a few fingers in the attempt), but to me that's just effective writing.
Lloyd: When I met Mary, I got that old fashioned romantic feeling, where I'd do anything to bone her. Harry: That's a special feeling.
The mullet, that fucking mullet. You are right Johnny O. that is what we will all remember from Superman coming back. I think Damien is a perfect Robin for this generation and that is why I believe this generation needs to be sterilized. He is a self important douchebag raised by a hover mom. He is a dick for the sake of being a dick. He is a prick to his estranged father who didn't know he existed, because mom was doing fine without her man then when her rich daddy died, it was time to drop the kid off to daddy day care. He is the aftermath of a Jerry Springer show much like today's youth.
I understand why people like him and why younger fans enjoy him, but being a giant dick to Batman got Jason Todd's ass 1-900 into the ground for a few decades. I don't see that happening to Damien since DC in hindsight they did something bad with Jason, they didn't. Jason was an ass and needed to die the bloodiest way possible. Damien is also too well liked by the hipsters who post how awesome he is while the regular fans look at them if they are fire with AIDS, full blown AIDS. If he does die which too me is one of the two logical choices, then I am ok with it. The second option is to make him a villain after he kills Todd since you can't have two evil Robins running around. If he was a full blown villain, I think I would be ok with the character.

Oh, so I read Flashpoint #2. The Barry Allen moment alluded to in spoiler tags in an earlier post did indeed read as hilarious. I certainly understood what they were going for, but the execution (pun intended) was hysterical.
Better than the pages and pages of exposition between Barry Allen and Thomas Wayne about what was going on was the brief glimpse of action on Paradise Island, formerly known as England. It was really just more exposition, but it was an interesting confrontation between Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor, with hints about what a bad ass Lois Lane is in the Flashpoint universe.
Also, Deathstroke is a pirate. Arrr.

You don't like Jurgens OR Morrison? Is there anything you actually enjoy in life?
Johns, Dini, Widdick, Kevin Smith, Simson, JMS
And there goes what good will you had with me for hating Morrison...
Just read #2 and the #1 Batman. Thomas is more of an asshole than All Star Bats. Pretty good read though. Interesting to see a Batman who has no qualms killing. I figure there will be some twist with the Joker being a different person.

He has gone from the guy who brought in JMS, Kevin Smith, Bendis and other talented guys to the Judas of the Disney deal. Even before the Disney deal, he pissed me off with all his editorial decisions after Civil War. Now, the hostage situation of killing a character a month til sales go up is just asinine.

Good will returned. Just curious what editorial decisions are you referring to?

Barry Allen, the scientist, can't work out that people get electrocuted all the time without getting superpowers?
I gotta disagree about Joe Quesada. Compared to Bob Harris or Bill Jemas, Quesada is an excellent EIC.
Quesada has done some really good stuff for Marvel, like getting Stephen King into the company, streamlining books to (theoretically...) coincide with each other, brought in Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, created the Marvel Max and Ultimate lines. See, Quesada did some pretty decent stuff.
I'm and old timey reader, and I love Grant Morrisson. I think We3 is the best comic story of the past 30 years. That book should rank on top ten lists alongside Dark Knight Returns and Kraven's Last Hunt. I thought his New X-Men was perfect. I am not 'hip'. I am 'anti-hip'... there is nothing hip about me.
Justice League Dark sounds terrible. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

Barry was trying to replicate the exact same chemical accident/lightning strike that gave him superspeed. And then... and then... heheheheh... That's what makes it so funny.
Nous ne nous pouvons pas sortir. Well now that it's out of spoiler tags...
Barry Allen the Scientist can't do some quick mental math of the odds of lightening striking twice? Both literally and figuratively?
I mean, a once in a lifetime chance is just that. If an alternate universe Oliver Queen tries to recreate the incident that made him Green Arrow he probably dies of dehydration on an island.

I'm going to give this one a chance, just because any book that would put John Constantine on any kind of Justice League roster deserves a look. For morbid curiosity's sake.
Everything about the new Teen Titans left me scratching my head. You wouldn't think so with a codename like Red Robin, but a Robin costume with a wings-shaped cape just seems utterly prepostrous for some reason.

The Civil War ending, Peter/MJ's Satanic Pact, Everything about Sentry, The ending of World War Hulk, All of the chaos of Secret Invasion, killing people once a month til sales go up, streamlining characters to fit into the movies and so on.
Kevin Smith's run on Daredevil and Green Arrow were great. Black Cat, ok that sucked.

He probably did and the math worked out pretty well:

The character was the nephew of the existing Flash character's girlfriend and later wife, Iris West. During a visit to the Central City police laboratory where Barry Allen worked, the freak accident that gave Allen his powers repeated itself, bathing West in electrically-charged chemicals. Now possessing the same powers as the Flash, West donned a smaller sized copy of Barry Allen's Flash outfit and became the young crimefighter Kid Flash.
I think, generally, people who live in comic book universes are more willing to believe in unlikely things happening because quite a lot of hard to believe stuff happens on a regular basis.
(whoops, missed the post above. Sorry for piling on.)
I believe that there was a ret-con that the lightning that caused the accident with both Barry and Wally was in fact Barry as the Flash travelling through time (I think fighting Professor Zoom)
And since Barry knows that he was the lightning that gave him his powers, the only way that the recreation of the accident would work is if the exact moment in space/time that the accident occurred is a moment that Flash (or another speedster) passed through while travelling in time.
(Since Geoff Johns theory of the Speed-Force is that Barry created the Speed-Force and that the Speed-Force gains power (thus powering other speedsters) the more that Barry runs. I suspect that Johns would believe that only Barry could save/repower Barry. Possibly with Booster's help?)
Mind you I am a horrible cynic, but here are the two things I've seen about the reboot that stuck in my head.
Gutters Issue #147 (the-gutters.com) They are really damned if they do and damned if they don't on the Barbara Gordon thing. She's the only female character that has any sort of long reaching continuity in the DC universe-- but because horrible things happened to her.

Well, they don't have to be damned at all with Barbara. They are choosing to screw around with her. There was no giant demand to have back being Batgirl. They choose to say screw it, lets get her out of the wheelchair, because the other Batgirls can't be used in other medium due to everyone knowing Babs is Batgirl. Its their own fault for not doing more with no talky Batgirl in other mediums. She would be a great addition Batman Beyond or in the JLU. Yet, they don't want her.
As for Ellis, I don't know his work well enough to say pot calling the kettle black.
If the story is fun and interesting, I'm all for it. I've always enjoyed the show, even near the end. But I will definitely miss Erica Durance's awesome version of Lois. I do wonder if this allows them to expand more on the world.
