Saw it at midnight and I thought it was X-cellent. I don't know if it's better than X2 but it's right up there, at least as good, in all-new, super cool ways.
I love it when I go into a movie expecting nothing special and end up getting an awesome product. That's the second time Marvel's done that for me in the last few months, as I expected nothing out of Thor and wound up getting a great action flick.
I definitely didn't expect anything good to come out of the X-franchise (No Patrick Stewart? No Ian McKellan? No Rebecca Romijn?) and this exceeded every expectation I had.

Marvel Studios is on a roll! Bring on Cap!
X-Men is a FOX property, not a Marvel Studios property, but yes, I concur. 2-2 for summer superhero movies so far.
Green Lantern? Captain America? It's on you two.

Fassbender's Irish accent bleeding in made the fact that they made Moira MacTaggart talk all American extra-upsetting. Rose Byrne looked just like Moira MacTaggart though! Rose Byrne is awesome. Moira MacTaggart + grizzled ol' Irish Banshee is probably not a thing that's going to happen here.
The realistic(ish) Batman movies have kind of poisoned the well in terms of comic book high stakes shenanigans playing out in a movie where things kind of seem silly if they're not being played seriously and angsty. But it was cool X-Men stuff in a movie, and it was a great deal of fun. (Plus X-Men 3 certainly proved that just having recognizable x-stuff going on did not guarantee enjoyability.) All in all, a successful, welcome, and needed r-r-r-reboot.
It was cool to see them do this with some untapped characters. Havok was in a movie! Banshee was in a movie! The Hellfire Club was in a movie (I guess).
LOL @ sechs degrees of Nazi Bacon. Does January Jones bring all that overwhelming personality and charisma to Mad Men too?

well.
Jenny Lawrence was really Winter's Boning it up. She must have tapped into all kinds of winter's bone Appalachian dread and despair for this role. So her and that ridiculous looking red guy are going to do it, intercourse-wise?

Aaron from 24 was not a cameo.

Particularly when you have a score that was pretty cheesy half of the time.
I think my favorite individual moment was Banshee flying around at the beginning of the final battle. So visually exciting.

Wow. For all the negative attention this movie got when they announced the reboot, the 60s theme and such, they struck back with a vengeance. Probably my favorite X-movie. Did they mess with continuity, sure. Aging/de-aging several people. But I really don't care because it was just a great movie.
I got a huge (evil) grin on my face whenever Magneto used his powers. Definitely the star of the movie. Fassbender played him well, with a bit of McKellen thrown in when needed.
I just loved how he kept telling Mistique that she was beautiful the way she was naturally. Over and over again.
I laughed the way Xavier used his genetics skills to hit on women. Fun stuff.
Great scene when Magneto/Prof X go recruit mutants. Very funny (Did you guys catch Cyclops and Storm when they used Cerebro?)
Again, possibly my favorite of the X-men movies, due to it's "lets just have some fun" nature of the thing. Oh. And Jennifer Lawrence. Wow. Yum
I guess it might've helped if Xavier had mentally shut down Angel, Riptide and Red Nightcrawler just as easily as he did Shaw, eh? Also, when Erik is trashing Shaw's office at the beginning, you'd think he'd stop and kill the guy who, y'know, actually did the deed. Oh well, minor plot points.

Point the first: he was focusing on getting Shaw, not everyone else. The rest of his compatriots had Angel, Riptide and Azazel well in hand (kind of).
Point the second: Erik had no control over his powers. If he could specifically move whatever he had handy to kill Shaw, don't you think he would've been able to move the coin when his mother's life was at stake?

Saw it tonight and loved it. Think it is the best of the series so far. Wished they had STARTED with this one instead of the re-boot but what can you do. Hopefulyl they will continue along from here.
Was not a huge X-Men fan growing up so I did some reading online afterwars. Gripes - they had a ton of members! I am assuming a lot of them were secondary and tiertiary members but still. Not that exclusive of a club!

I think you need the knowledge and awareness of the future characters and what they do in order for everything here to resonate. You "know" Magneto's going to get the helmet, Xavier is going to get crippled, Beast is going to get fuzzy, Mystique is going to peace out.
Speaking of Mystique, wasn't it great after the montage of the X-babies mastering the powers they'd struggled with all their lives and developing into a lethal and cohesive fighting unit, and J-Law said it had been "an amazing week." A WEEK!

No one after 1996 or whenever I stopped reading counts for me. What's a "Marrow."

I was upset that Havok's sick pinball skills that we see him display while they're hanging with the CIA didn't come up in the final battle.
Yet, this really was good at showing how it all started & where the divide of mutants start. I knew of the origins because I'm an origin nerd but past that I never got much into depth because it was all past my time.
I think they did a great job of with the Xavier & Magneto story. How they did have friendship but so much friction or differences about being mutants that it tore them away from being united.
Saw this as a double feature with Green Lantern today. This was the better of the two. I'd say I enjoyed it as much as X2 (for the record I hated X1 and X3).
-It think a big reason this movie works and Green Lantern doesn't is the handling of the characters. Everything is setting up the endgame. Charles and Erik are moving toward there roles as the MLK and Malcolm X of the mutant world. Mystique is learning to accept herself and hate trying to conform to humans...and Beast and Charles are pushing her there without even knowing it! The scene where Beast tells her she looks beautiful when shes in disguise stung.
-I liked both cameos. Except that they reminded me of the crappier movies in this franchise.
-Ok, on a side note, I thought of a way to fix the mess of the other movies, but keep everything in continuity. Have the next movie be a sequel of this movie and have it take place in the 80's or 90's. Bishop shows up to save mutantkind and his presence changes the timeline. This way, Jackman can still be Wolverine, but we can throw out Origins. Cyclops pathetic death can be swept away. It would be kinda like what they did for the Star Trek remake.
Finally saw this over the weekend, and loved it. So did the wife, which says a lot. She thought it was the best of the “three” X-Men movies (she has the luxury of forgetting she saw Wolverine), while I thought it was a close 2nd to X2.
Loved Bacon, Fassbender, the cameos (even the ones with F bombs), and the whole James Bond, groovy feel to most of the first half of the movie. I was also surprised to see how Charles ended up in a wheelchair, didn’t see that coming. Magneto’s mask apparently got much less cool over the years, too.
