(Please disregard the tasteless use of the "Rehab" song).
To see a guy who was at one point one of the most talented, and capable wrestlers in the business; and a guy who helped launch one of the hottest angles in wrestling history reduced to this isn't just sad, it's downright scary.
He obviously has no regard for not only himself, but the people he's working with in the ring.
The people I really feel bad for are his friends, co-workers, and family who have to deal with him in this state. They must be heartbroken.
This was widely discussed elsewhere shortly after it happened. I know Kevin Nash and his ex-wife Dana Hall have discussed this at length. There's a Torch link below. He's been hospitalized since that event, I'm not sure if he's gone home yet. Nash insinuated his problems are beyond just substance abuse and that he uses drugs/alcohol to block out something horrible that happened to him in the past. Nash doesn't elaborate what that might be, but I'd guess molestation? That seems to be a common thing for many substance abusers. Also, X-Pac said that when Macho went and he got a bunch of calls he assumed it was news that Scott had passed. That really isn't a good sign. Waltman said it in this video.
Here's the torch coverage of Nash and Dana's comments. If you like hideous pop-ups...

I don't doubt that for a minute. Maybe he's never had any sort of psychiatric help yet. Or maybe he doesn't want any. Either way; it's just a shame to see a man who had such talent and charisma end up like this.

If he was molested, being with a priest may not be the best thing. You'd think (never been to rehab so just an assumption) that rehab WWE has been sending Hall to would be giving him a shrink since as mentioned it's usually bad shit in their past that drives/keeps them to drugs.
None of us know what he may have gone through in his personal life.
I'd like to think that those around him have done everything in their power to try to help him but who can say? Maybe he simply doesn't want to go through the effort of attempting to get clean and sober? He might simply not care anymore.
The really sad thing is that if he'd been able to get help or had never become an alcoholic in the first place; I bet he'd still be able to wrestle some great matches and have a place in the WWE today as an active wrestler.

That's been the implication from Nash, Waltman, and his, let's say, "emotionally bare" wife. Dana's "Scott has chosen to die!!!" tweets are probably not 100% rational journalism, but the whole thing seems, hearsay-wise, more of a Leaving Las Vegas "shut it down" scenario than a music biopic where the artist rehabs himself clean in a montage.

I don't know if that's the *really* sad thing, but he's 52 and the last good Scott Hall match was in January 1999 so I would bet not.

Yeah; I didn't mean to imply that his lack of ability to wrestle is more important than his health or relationship with his family/friends, but more that it's a sad side-effect. I should have phrased that better.
Mostly I just wish he would have retired years ago because someone he wrestlers is going to end up hurt if he wrestles wasted on any sort of regular basis. There's just no excuse for showing up to a wrestling event in that condition. None.
If I was a wrestler scheduled to wrestle him, and I saw him come out drunk like that; I'd refuse to wrestle him.
Just amazing that they trotted him out there like that.
He looks like he's 52 years old going on 90. His organs have to be totally shot at this point. It's the first time I've ever heard Kevin Nash talking like this, so the end is probably pretty close.
I've known people like Hall. The damage these people do to their friends and family is tremendous. It's too bad.

I understand your point but on the other hand; the promotor booked him based on the fact that he's a name guy. The audience paid money expecting to see Scott Hall and I don't think we should blame the promotor for this (except perhaps that they shouldn't have booked him in the first place).
The fact that Scott was so careless as to show up falling down drunk says a lot about how sick he really is.

100 percent blame on the promoter for this. They knew his history and they knew he was in no condition to be out there, but yet, they had no problems allowing him the ring and then allowing other wrestlers to sell to him.
Wouldn't surprise me if the fans showed up hoping to see this.

Sick stuff.
So it's too much for a promotor to expect that his talent (and one who was probably being paid the most of anyone on the card) show up sober?
It's not Scott Hall's fault in any way whatosever that he showed up to wrestle in that condition? Really?...
I very much doubt any of the fans bought tickets specificly to see him so loaded he's barely able to move. Any who did ought to be ashamed. I have a feeling they bought them because the name "Scott Hall" brought back a lot of fond memories of his runs as Razor, and with the NWO in 1996/7- back when he was healthy, motivated, and well worth spending money to see.
You also gotta understand that not every person who watches wrestling or goes to these shows are on the internets all day long in message boards or the newz sites. There is still a rather large portion of the general public who barely use the internet at all other than for pictures of friends in email.
I'd say about a third to half of the people there saw a TV ad or a poster advertizing 'SCOTT HALL from the NWO/WCW/WWF/WWE... etc.' and went there just for that reason.
All the rest, however, were there to make fun of him, surely.
...and one percent of the people there (Justin Credible) were just happy to get a payout to compensate his Walmart salary.

I agree with your first two paragraphs but I don't think anyone specificly went to see him drunk. I think some decided to mock him once they saw he was drunk because it was their way of dealing with being pissed off that he showed up in that condition.
Hate to break it to you Whiskey, but Russo's been in the last few shows. My eyes are still recovering from seeing him in tight velour or whatever that was, yikes. The best line of the show, however, reflects my feelings:
