Before the open, they rush to update Christina's injury, which turns out to be a painful sprain. She's not out, but she sits out for a while. AJ apologizes a ton and those that guessed that AJ stood too close are the winners.

This week's life lesson is Charisma. I don't know how that's a lesson, and I don't know that DeMott is right when he says everyone in the WWE has it. This leads to an awkward segue into James Roday's guest appearance. If any one of the contestants knew who he was, the editing did a fine job hiding it. Trainees were all in charge of hosting a 10 minute bus tour. AJ was boring. Luke had a bit that proved to be annoying. Christina didn't know what she was doing. Andy was uncoordinated. So, exactly as normal. Just when it seemed like it was another challenge for everyone to fail on, Jeremiah was vastly entertaining and ruled the winner. Thanks for coming, James Roday.

Back in the ring, there was no Booker T, but there was noted Booker T move stealer The Rock. All the contestants with two working feet went One on One with The Great One, who told them not to be so stiff. The Rock hung around for the Skills Challenge: two minute promos on Bill. These were definitely promos by people who were not used to doing two minute promos. Christina, aware she needed to make up for sitting out, was not so good and did not appear to make it two minutes. One! Andy was bleh. Two! AJ again has a chance to stand out to save himself - and he finally does it. Bill (whispering to himself): "What the [muted], that was actually good." Austin: "He hit a triple, after he struck out many times." Don't you know it. Winner was announced by the Rock cutting a promo on each person. Getting put down by the Rock was a highlight of Jeremiah's life, and getting approval from him was a happy surprise for AJ.

AJ still thinks he's in trouble, and he's right when the coaches meeting includes blaming him for Christina's injury and being down on his poor performance in the ring. Bill on Christina: "She has no business talking to people." Luke has promise. Jeremiah is unsafe. Andy needs to step up. Jeremiah gets a pass by for the other three, and he and Luke quietly celebrate in the house. Andy is ticked; he only sees himself and Christina as people who might do anything in WWE.

Bottom 3 includes Steve saying the title, which is as great as hoped. It gets better!

Andy tells Austin that his father dug ditches.
Austin asks if he used a shovel: "He should've hit you in the goddamn head with the shovel!"

Austin later asks if Andy is getting angry with him.
Andy: "My honest answer?"
Austin: "No! I want you to F[mute]KING LIE TO ME!"

Austin doesn't believe Christina wants it enough, based on her promo.

When AJ says he wants it more than the other two, Andy barks back. (Plenty of muting)
Andy: "I don't even believe you and I'm in the ring with you."
Austin: "What are you all mad about, Silent Rage?"
Andy: "Hey, [mute]t ain't getting very Silent now, is it?"
Austin: [to the tune of Silent Night]: "Sillllent Rage! [normal] Ha ha, sound like a goddamn Christmas carol, son. That's right, I'm funny and I'm Stone Cold Steve Austin, and you ain't, and you might not ever get a chance to be Silent Rage."

Austin lets AJ know that he figured AJ would've blown the promo, get cut, and Austin would be home enjoying a TV dinner by now. But it's only One Day (in a group of bad day.)

Austin asks Andy why he should send Christina home. Andy says he's got the wrong three there. Austin is not expecting this one.
Andy: "Christina's going to be a successful Diva someday, I firmly believe that. I firmly believe I'm going to be a successful superstar one day."
Austin: "You've got to be the biggest dumbest son of a bitch I've ever laid my eyes on."
Austin tells him to stop playing politics - Christina's not paying his bills. Austin demands Andy explain why he's better than Christina, and he really doesn't want to do it.

Austin has good news and bad news. Andy asks the bad news, and Austin lets them know TWO are going home. That's a surprise this time. Austin collects Christina's belt (Christina says it's a mistake, and I figure she means coming on this show instead of staying in FCW) and goes back to Andy one more time.

Austin: "You've shown me the best you've got?"
Andy: "No sir."
Austin: "What's that?"
Andy: "NO SIR I HAVEN'T!"
Austin: "WHAT I CAN'T HEAR YOU SILENT RAGE"
Andy: [screaming his head off] "I SAID NO SIR YOU HAVEN'T"
Austin: "WHAT"
Andy: "NO SIR I HAVEN'T!"
Austin: "Stop pussy footing around then! Your ass better show me something tomorrow - [points to AJ] You're going home, just like she is."

AJ shows no expression on his face. That's his move! Christina hugs Andy goodbye.

Austin tells Andy not to be meek. "Those sons of bitches ain't going to stand a f[mute]cking chance."

AJ is disappointed but feels like he's going to make it. Christina feels like she just had a bad week.

Next time: the Miz. One last elimination! So they won't be going with three to the final (and we get one more final 3 with Austin and Andy, can't wait.)

Kinda thought AJ got a Raw deal, but he has blown so many chances. Andy should have been cut for looking like he was gonna break down crying through the whole elimination.

Luke is gonna win this thing. Andy isn't in the same ballpark as him or Jeremiah. But Jerimiah is green and doesn't have "the look".

Wait, did Austin (or was it Bill) blame Martin's injury on AJ? I don't recall the exact quote, but it was pinning "Ranger's" (Martin?) and Christina's injuries on him. I'm not sure how they figure that.

That double drop toe hold was great.

Final 2 *should* be Andy & Luke, if only because Jeremiah has gotten way dangerous in the ring.

Austin is so good on this show it's ridiculous.

That is the first time I noticed the "Kayfabe Bar" neon sign in Austin's office. Nice inside joke.

The Rock might be the sweatiest, drippiest person walking the face of the Earth.

Standing in front of the remaining Tough Enough kids were Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and Trish Stratus. Think on that for a second. That's unreal.

THAT'S the final three? Then again, any combination of the final three would have gotten the same reaction from me.

I think the big flaw of Tough Enough is and was always in the casting. The producers did a piss poor job casting the show. None of these kids really have It, not even Luke, really. Luke's just the best by default. Next time (not to get into a debate again about whether there'll be a next time), Stone Cold should be part of the casting process from the get-go.

Win the in-ring challenge = go home. It proves it's not what you do or how well you do it. It's how you look. He reduced Bill DeMott to a whisper and worked the crowd, and they sent him home with the smallest amount of feedback in Austin's Ring. AJ's elimination proves size matters. Also, a shoulder-length haircut don't hurt.

I really wish the trainers had a "my bad" option where they could bring back someone eliminated the week before when a Bottom Three survivor fails to improve.

Christina can't even convince me she was upset by the elimination. She smiled through that show-closing monologue in the sunshine-y style of an airhead. She has no passion, only inclination.

I love Jeremiah. He has a unique look and sound, and he owned the bus. Luke is another swaggering ass for a company dominated by midcard heels. Their silent celebration before the Bottom Three was pure joy.

That's why he's The Most Electrifying Man In (Sports) Entertainment, all that sweat serves as a great conductor.

Cubs nailed all of the lines that made this Austin's best showing yet. I would watch him rip into any group of people on any show for any reason. This is what the guy was born to do, and he just seems so delighted to be able to do it.

I will say that, if we allow ourselves to buy into the fictional reality presented by the show, this week was a case of finally seeing someone save themselves from elimation by going back at Austin during the final segment, as he seems to have been trying to force someone to do since week one. Truthfully, though, I think it came down to the fact that AJ's facial expression for "I've just been kicked off the show" is the same as his facial expression for "I've just injured someone" and his facial expression for "I'm cutting an intense promo at you" and his facial expression for "I'm standing here causally staring at a wall". He's like one of those lesser background Muppets they kind of phoned in to fill out a crowd scene, as far as his range of facial expression goes.

It's great that between Tough Enough and NXT there are two WWE shows right now that have narratives which respectively anchor around how Stone Cold and William Regal say excellent things on a constant basis.

Jeremiah and Husky Harris future tag champs.

I was in tears. This was one of the best things Steve Austin has ever said.

Can we talk about Bill Demott being quite enjoyable in his role? I didn't see that coming. On TE3 (which I haven't seen since it aired, obv) he deferred all non-hardass qualities to Al Snow, but here he's actually been rather personable and good as a human being/TV character, IMO.

I finally got to watch it and I agree with Andy, Steve had the wrong bottom three. Luke blew the two charismatic challenges, the things that Luke proclaims he is great at. He had a good week of wrestling, but he failed both challenges. Jeremiah did great in the one charisma challenge, but is a noted danger in the ring. AJ is bland in the ring, but he nailed the promo challenge in front of the Attitude Trinity. Bill was even impressed, yet he is in the bottom three. Andy blew both challenges and is fine in the ring, so he is the bottom three. Minus week 2, this is the most blatant attempt to stack the deck.

I am not saying he wasn't a great episode, because once again Austin is awesome. Regardless, if I disagree with Steve or not, he is the best thing about this show and the only thing in wrestling that is making me gave a damn. Rock was great and he looked good minus the Niagara Falls of sweat coming down his head. Even though I disagree with the two people going home, I can't disagree with the fact that neither AJ or Christina didn't have IT. Although AJ did shock me with that promo.

Austin has said it many times that he is using their body of work to date, not just that week's challenges, when he is judging them.

Based on his criteria, AJ deserved to be on the bottom 3. He had nothing but average to weak weeks with only one bright spot.

Luke had an off week, but there is no way you can convince be that based on their entire performances, that Luke should have been there instead of AJ. Now, if they were being judged on how they did that week alone, it would be a different story.

As awesome as Austin's bottom 3 segments are, I think my favorite part of each episode is the private trainers' conference where Austin decides the bottom 3. Listening to them all go back and forth feels so real. I love the camaraderie, and also when Bill nods his head at Austin.

Yet here too there's cuts and edits, meaning we only see & hear what they want us to see & hear. I doubt that all they say each week about Jeremiah's in-ring work is "He's getting to be unsafe" and then leave it at that.

Bill's reaction to AJ's promo was awesome. The disbelief as he muttered What the Fuck.

The reason AJ was so convincing was because he truely spoke from the heart. Luke did a standard 'dangerous heel' WWE promo, the other three didn't do anything of interest. But AJ said how he felled and amped it up to 11. Just what they always say they want.

The only part of that segment that I get stuck on is whether we saw the promos in their original order or if they were edited for a story. If AJ did go last, he had the most time to prepare, and that should figure into the debate about his future on the show.

But even if he had two extra minutes, what he brought was so head-and-shoulders over the rest that the time advantage can't fully explain his success. And that makes his ejection so disappointing. He didn't just do enough to win. He hit a standard some current WWE Superstars can't match. That should have saved him for another week. It wasn't just mpressive coming from AJ. It was impressive period.

Unfortunately, the title of the show doesn't befit the competition. This isn't about being tough enough. It's about being marketable. And they thought AJ was too bland. Andy gets the passion lecture from Austin, yet we're supposed to think AJ is the one who needs it the most. Andy bombed on the bus and didn't distinguish himself in the ring or on the mic. The only saving grace he has is that this was his first time in the Bottom Three even though we haven't seen him stand out.

In other words, if Andy wins this season, the show can be renamed Good Enough.

I almost agree with you to a point. Yes, AJ's promo should have saved him considering how exposed the others got. Doing promos is a good chunk of what makes you a star. Again, I think if anyone should be in the bottom three this week it was Jeremiah and Luke. Luke had the same match with Andy in which Bill thought both men not just Luke was excellent. AJ won his competition leaps and bounds over everyone else while Jeremiah squeaked by. I just don't think they wanted Luke and Jeremiah in the same bottom 3 til the end where one has to bury the other to go further.

Yet, I think if Andy wins, the show is validated. Andy was the quiet guy who did everything that was asked of him. He has broken away from the pack by showing real emotions as well as doing good things in the ring. He busts his ass every day before the others and works hard. He said it best, the show was not a sprint, but a marathon. To me, the only one I would feel fishy about is Luke who was already in the bottom 3 and probably should have been in more if Martin didn't get hurt as well as some of the other contestants lasting longer then they should have.
