THE GOOD (So far...)

CASTLE was one of the best finales I've seen in years. The reveal of the third cop, Ryan and Esposito's fight, Castle carrying Beckett out of the airplane hanger, the funeral... there wasn't a single wasted moment in that whole episode and I want the new season to start right now to see where they go from here. That was some perfect television right there.

----------

THE BAD (So far...)

CSI:MIAMI wasn't all that bad till the ending. Horatio is supposedly smarter than that and that whole sequence of events was like watching the characters from POLICE ACADEMY try to be serious.

V was actually really good, but with it being cancelled I'm calling it 'bad' because I want more Marc Singer. I also LOVED Diana's death.

----------

THE UGLY

SURVIVOR:REDEMPTION ISLAND - Boston Rob needs to die. What a douche. CBS will probably give him and his wife their own series next year.

Disagree. Boston Rob played a phenomenal game, and while people can complain all they want about his previous experience, the fact that there were 17 other players in the game who never decided to round up the numbers and get rid of him speaks volumes. Now, had this season been played immediately following All-Stars, he'd have been at a SUPREME disadvantage and likely given the Russell treatment - but I still say he was at a disadvantage because all they had to do was say "he's a sneak" and he's gone.

Rob has said that he's now satisfied with his Survivor Legacy and probably won't play again if it's any consolation. The only way I can imagine seeing him again is the All-Winners edition when they trot out 18 former winners in Season 30.

This might get its own thread, but what the hell, I was a bit let down by the Office's finale. I kind of thought the producers *had* a new boss chosen by now, but they're just dragging things out at this point.

It seemed like Catherine Tate's character was hinted at being the favourite from the guest star pool, since she was given the extra story point of being a friend of Jo's. It obviously won't be Gervais, Carrey, Arnett (who's in another show this fall), Romano (who's on Men Of A Certain Age) and Warren Buffett is probably too old to transition into acting. So that leaves Tate and Spader, and I'd prefer Catherine Tate.

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball

Good: Bones. Even though I felt like the episode from last week would have been better, I still liked Hodgen and Angelina named their kid after Mr.Nigel Murray. Wife was disappointed Booth broke his code of honor with sleeping with Bones after Murray's death, but I reminded her, he is a sniper which is not the most honorable of military positions and she is pregs in real life. She disliked both my answers. The bowling stuff was pretty cute and accurate too.

Big Bang Theory. Interesting twist with Penny sleeping with Radji. Not an epic finale, but a good one where plots are being set-up for next season. Just get Pryia out of there.

Archer. Yeah, its been done for awhile, but how great is Barry being the Six Million Rubles man. 1 for 3 on the balaclava, nice. Probably my favorite finale this year in a rather weak field. God, I miss the Best of Both Worlds, who shot JR type of finales that we talk about all summer.

Bad.

How I meet your mother. The more we deal with Ted and his relationships, the more I hate the character. Marshall has been this season's MVP. Barney getting married is the last straw for this show and I hope they wrap up this mom thing soon. If anything I hope they spin-off Robin, Marshall and Lily into their own show if Barney gets married. Yet, I think after Avengers hits, Ms.Cobie will not be long for TV. Could be a lot of fun guest stars for next year like RDJ and Sam Jackson.

Ugly.

Smallville. You know the saying be careful what you wish for? I wished the last season of Smallville had Lex back, Clark flying in the suit, Darkseid and some closure with Chloe. I got it in the worst possible way. 10 years for this shit. Blur shots of Superman flying that now makes you realize they could have done flight earlier using the same technology they had with him doing super-speed for the last 10 years. A wedding that happens seven years later for no reason, but takes up the first hour of the two hour finale. Chloe/Ollie having a kid which I am sure people at DC are now getting flooded with letters from fans saying don't even think about this for the comics. A fight with Darkseid that equals one punch that turns into a montage then flight somehow. Lex and Clark having one great scene that really needs nowhere. Tess dying and no one caring including Hamilton who was her booty call. And top it all off, Superman moves a planet, not just any planet Apokolipse. The most disappointing, mind numbingly stupid finale of all time. Ten years of ball blues for nothing. If anything, I will miss from Smallville is Johnny O's reviews which were awesome, I didn't say thank you in the Smallville thread, but I will here. It was a herculean effort to watch this trainwreck of a show, thank you for making it enjoyable.

The season finale of Raising Hope was pretty spectacular, despite the copious amount of alpaca spit.

Ditto. This show is on the bottom tier of sitcoms I watch, but it's still a solid show and the finale was probably the best episode yet.

Agreed on that. Cloris Leachman was pretty incredible. I wish Maw Maw was always lucid.

Also Good...

The Event - Yeah, I'm a sucker. I watched this entire season, but it was only about 3/4 of the way through the season that I started thinking some of this stuff was ridiculous. All in all, I enjoyed the ride. It had really strong performances from most of the cast. And I would love for this to continue on cable or Netflix (the rumor mill is churning). I need closure on those cliffhangers!

Chuck - The finale was Chuck at its absolute chessiest, but still awesome. As a fan, I know I'm fortunate that a show I like is getting the chance to end on its own terms (more or less)...a privilege that better-performing shows don't have. And I'm grateful. MORGAN!

SVU - The finale was good, with a nice, dark ending, but I'm more impressed with the penultimate episode. Sterling Beaumon, the kid who played "young Ben Linus" in Lost shows us what a teenage Ben Linus would be like if he lived in NYC...and was a serial rapist. Man, what a twisted performance.

I'd certainly welcome it. I lost interest in the Office a couple of years ago, but I love Catherine Tate, from both her BBC show and her Doctor Who stint, and I would certainly give the show another chance if she became the new Michael.

Yeah, it was pretty bad. There is no way they can "book" their way out of attempted murder.

After the events of the Big Bang Theory finale, it is apparent the show will only end once Penny has slept with every member of the foursome.

Apparently next season is the last for House (the series). The beginning of the end I guess. The last couple of episodes have been brilliant.

I fear whatever method they use to put House back at the hospital and alongside Wilson will be ruinous. He turned heel. He's lost his charm.

This show can only end with him realizing his desperate need to retain his dead leg has demolished his life. It's an albatross, anchor in the past. He's wasted his genius, friendships, marriage, career, and the past seven years by rationalizing everything he's done to escape admitting he was wrong about amputation.

I can't even imagine how they'd attempt to bring him back. If he comes back he gets arrested. And at this point someone would start investigating this doctor that spent time in a psych ward and was nearly busted for misuse of prescriptions.

They could go the route of House spending the next year falling apart and either going to jail or dying in the finale, but this ain't The Shield, and I can't see House fans liking it.

One more thing, Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy) won't be back next season. They'll probably try to say that Cuddy left the hospital, and since she's gone, House can come back. Which would be retarded, but wouldn't surprise me.

Glee's finale was decent. It set the scene for next season. Only issue: no Sue. She had her big moments last episode, so that's okay, I guess.
