Eesh, American Dad ended on one of its weaker episodes. I didn't get into the Stan/Steve bonding at all and Roger's attempt to be a country singer just fell completely flat with me. It didn't really have any great lines or anything. Overall, it was pretty bad.
As for the season, it was another good one for American Dad. Adding Jeff to the family was a wise move and they actually downplayed Roger's antics a lot, which was a great move, because it felt like he was being overexposed. The breakout star this season for me was Principal Lewis, who had some of the funniest moments I've seen out of any character this year. Best part about him is that they're giving him to us in fairly small doses, which is a good thing. AD looks to be getting jerked around timeslot-wise next year, but as long as it's on my DVR, I'll look forward to more this fall.
American Dad was a clear winner out of the Seth shows for the year, but the finale was just awful. I am wondering if the Hurricane crossover was supposed to be the finale for all three shows and since it got scrapped we end up with this being the finale. This was one of the worst episodes this year, I have no idea why this was the finale.
I liked it! We got a look at a different Steve/Stan dynamic, which was nice. Bullock going ape (pun intended) when he found out Stan was ill was funny. The payoff was "meh" but good enough.
And Roger's country music excursion was worth it for the Y&R tattoo (and theme music!) as well as him ending up just singing a song about an ugly chick instead of the true country music experience. And they loved it anyway.
Bear had to kill Simone, right? I know we didn't hear a trigger but I figured the music was indicator enough. I can't be the only one who wasn't hoping for a Mark Calloway cameo. Still, that was an amazing sneak attack by Milligan.
