Label me unimpressed with the game selection list.

Should have been about 30 to 50 games to choose from.

happy news: the credit card I had PSN was one that expired last year; I hadn't updated it because I had card credit. Hooray.

If you still haven't reset to your password, I've found it's much quicker just to go to playstation.com, log in there, wait (not long) for the password reset email, and click the link there.

I've never played the PSP version of ModNation Racers, but the PS3 version is absolutely incredible fun.

And it's also a game they've already severly marked down (The W at Amazon), and is just as old as the PSP version (about a year now.) I'm surprised it's not one of the PS3 options.

I know infamous, Super Stardust, WipeoutHD were available for download/instant play already on the PSN store, and I believe Dead Nation was there. Not sure about LBP, but ModNation PS3 was definitely not. but maybe the critera here was "games we'd already set up for easy purchasing, because we don't have time to set up anything new at the moment." Which would't explain why only these five games, because there were more than those available.

I'm interested in seeing what the PlayStation Plus service is like - but I heard someone suggest that the free games available on it are locked if one's PS+ membership expires.

Nah, they should be good as long on they are on your system. I believe you can't redownload it if you delete and have unsubscribed, but I'm not sure of that.

I'm assuming it's the one for collecting all of the blast shards. That was a pain.

No, I'm actually good on that one. I grabbed a map from GameFAQs, carefully marked each spot as found as I went thru the game (on hard), and played thru the entire game grabbing them. I got to the last one - and their counter said I was still short one. About died, but got it together enough to go thru every single spot again. It was quicker this time, but didn't find the one I missed until I was two-thirds thru going over the third island again.

The one I don't have is the tricks/combos one. Neither of my two saves are pretty close, and every suggestion I've seen is basically running thru the game a fourth time just to focus on them. I like the game, not sure I like it that much.

(thank you for giving me the opening to talk about my video game playing!)

I own LBP and Wipeout HD already and my roommate owns infamous. I guess I'll be getting the other two. Has anyone here played Dead Nation? Is it any good?

No idea, but I already have infamous and LBP so I'm pretty sure that will be one of mine.

Which is better Super Stardust or Wipeout?

I've been a Wipeout fan since the first game on the PS1, so I'd say go for Wipeout HD. It plays like other games in the series and looks amazing. The soundtrack is awesome too.

One problem is that the game is so old now that it's almost impossible to find any online races.

No problem. I am a bit of a trophy whore myself and I remember the one you're chasing. It's a complete pain in the ass due to some of the parameters. I don't remember the specific ones and/or the best places to do them, but ps3trophies.org is a better than decent resource.

Just an FYI - I hadn't gotten around just yet to checking my credit card info on the PSN - but my bank called me to ask if I had made any purchases last Friday at a Polish auction house. If you had a credit card on the PSN, I would not rely on denial as protection from credit card fraud.

It's a small amount, thankfully - so it's not a huge deal. And my credit union turns things around pretty quickly.

I also have to say that a month free of PlayStation Plus smells less like "oops we messed up here's some free stuff" and more like "try it free so you'll want to pay for it afterwards". Actually, it REEKS of "we can make money off of this in the long run."

In unrelated news, I'm really impressed with the Xbox Kinect.

It is more likely that they are banking on people who don't normally purchase online content to go crazy for the free month purchasing stuff. Even if they don't get hooked, they bought more than they normally would.

unless there is anything on PS+ That I will keep after the 30 days, I don't think I will be using it. I am happy with the two free games and 100 free items in PS Home

Sony told Bloomberg News that all services would be up and running on May 31st. But that date hasn't been mentioned on Sony's sites at all, so it might not be gospel.

I did exactly what you said after I read this. I JUST got the password reset e-mail and clicking on the link took me to a page saying "Sorry, the server is under maintenance. Please try again later."

Sorry, but Sony can eat sh!t and die as far as I'm concerned. I'm reminded of Spaceballs, where Dark Helmet opens the door to the cancellation button for the self-destruct sequence and it says "Out Of Order" and he says "Sh!t, even in the future nothing works." QED

Turns out that's not the whole story. There was an exploit whereby if you knew someone's birthdate and email address, you could hack into their account. For serious.

Sony today made PSN sign-in unavailable for a number of its websites, including PlayStation.com and the PlayStation forums. All PlayStation game titles are also unavailable.

Crucially, the website users are directed to by password reset emails is now down.

Here are some more thoughts from a demented mind in Central Florida:
Is this available yet? I checked last night, but got a message that the PS Store is still down for maintenance, and I didn't see anything on Home. I may have missed the location and process in the article, but I don't think I saw anything with KJames199's link.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    - Killzone Liberation

I assume if you have a PSP and a PS3, you get two for each.

I'll get LBP and ModNation Racers for the PSP and LBP and inFamous for the PS3, unless someone can sway me with recommendations.

Now, I already successfully changed my password ... Since the online system has been taken down and (hopefully) will be secured once it's brought back up, does that mean I don't have to bother changing the email address associated with it?

How exactly am I supposed to do that? Everywhere I go on my PS3 or on my PC with regards to my account, it says "Server down. Sorry. F**k off." I've never received ONE single e-mail or anything from Sony even explaining any of this. Every piece of info on this topic I've gleaned either from this site, or from somewhere else on the web. I'm not especially tech-savvy - I just want Sony to give me some kind of support/advice that I can ACTUALLY ACT UPON. What a colossal bunch of f**kups.

No PSN store update today, maybe next week.

Also, they're doing maintenance on PSN from 11a ET to 8p ET. They say it should only affect account maintenance & password reset.

Also, GameFly has a used game sale going on.

Also, I pre-ordered infamous2 yesterday. Good idea to reserve the game early so I can get the free downloadable content...that I may not be able to download unless they get this all fixed.

PS store is due up no earlier then the 31st. Alot of people were complaining today on home about it, how they should take off the use of credit cards and only use psn cards. To me it comes down to this On one hand would it have been nice to have the store up, yeah. Would it have been smart, no. Sony needs to make sure the store wont crash when it's flooded with people downloading stuff. I think some one mentioned them turning it on like they did psn. a little at a time over a few days. Would it be smart to make it that noone cane use credit cards for a while. mabe but you need to understand people work, and when you work all day the last thing you want to do is run to gamestop, wallmart, or wallgreens to buy a psn card. They will get crap regardless of what they do. So they are doing what they think is best.
