This is the halfway mark of the season and business has appropriately picked up.
I really liked the scene where Bran was being quizzed on the great houses, their sigils, and their family mottos. I kind of gave myself a similar quiz a while back. Nerd alert!
In the list of most disturbing scenes in Game of Thrones, we have a new number one most disturbing: The hysterical, over the top scene in the Eyrie when we met Catelyn's sister, who's son is still breastfeeding at like age 10. Everything about that scene was beyond fucked up.
The scene with Robert and Cercei as they discussed how their loveless marriage is the only thing holding the tenuous peace in the realm together might be the best moment in the series so far. For a brief moment, there was almost warmth between them. There was certainly understanding of who the other is, and how the ghost of Ned's sister has always been between then and their marriage was a hopeless sham from day one. That was just incredibly well done.

That scene wasn't in the book. Nor was the intimate scene with Renly Baratheon and the Knight of Flowers when the Knight pushed the idea of Renly becoming King after Robert. Renly's homosexual? That's news to me. Also new was the scene with Theon and the prostitute. Theon becomes more and more important as time goes on.
Holy crap, there was a shit ton of nudity in this episode and Daenerys wasn't even in it. Also, a shit ton of violence. But just enough of Arya being awesome.
So, has anyone who is only watching the show put the pieces of Ned's investigation together as to why Jon Arryn was killed?

I'm still trying to figure out who Arryn is. Was he the Hand before Stark?

Jon Arryn was the Hand and he was also the husband of Catelyn Stark's sister. That makes him sort of Ned's brother in law. I think. I'm not sure how that works, actually. In any case they were related by marriage through the Tullys (Catelyn's maiden name) of Riverrun.
Arryn was also the guy who was also a mentor to Robert and Ned (I don't recall if they wer forced to live with him like Theon) so they both looked up to him. And of course it's obvious why he had to die. He knew the seed was strong
Now there's only one person whose seed is important in this tale. Oh wait, two...or maybe three.
Very eventful episode. I marked out for the sick Arryn boy going "I want him to fly" The skycells rule
The scene with Sersei and Robert was great. Though in a way, it humanized her. She's supposed to be the villain damnit! For a second I felt bad wen Robert said "no"
And John, regarding your spoiler comment. Yes he was always like that. I do believe you read the books. So you probably recall the name of his group of knights.. That's all the proof one needs.

Ah yes. I'm 300 pages into A Clash of Kings, but, yeah, I get it. It's all very clear now.

Programming note: If you have HBO GO, after this Sunday's 9pm airing of Game of Thrones 1x6 - "A Golden Crown", the next new episode - 1x7 - "You Win Or You Die" - will be available to watch online on HBO GO.
I probably will watch it on HBO GO but I won't recap it until next weekend, or whenever it airs if it doesn't next Sunday, since it's Memorial Weekend.

It should be noted that HBO GO is not available for Cablevision and Time Warner customers. Of which I am the former. Blecch.

Upon closer inspection of the Watchmen pics, I'm more impressed with Zack Snyder now. I've always said a Watchmen movie should be the cinematic equivalent of what the comic book was.
