There are people out there who still take this woman seriously.
The thing is, that's a really, really stupid argument.
If someone thinks showing one photo of a dead dude is going to have that effect, then ... well, that person is on par with Sarah Palin.
There is already plenty of evidence out there to prove ... whatever Palin thinks the US needs to prove. Such as the fact that bin Laden is dead, photos or not.

Yes, but you're deeply not smart.

Still, you're not totally wrong.
Releasing a photo would do no good. He likely wouldn't be recognisable to most people (partly because he may have recently changed his appearance, partly because he definitely was recently shot in the head) so it wouldn't silence any doubters. It would also anger the jeebus out of those sympathetic to his cause, so as it stands reasons not to release far outweigh those to do it.
Besides, are there actually people out there who think the US could pull off an elaborate operation faking Osama's death, but that they couldn't mock up a photo of his corpse? Who *are* these people? Morons is who. Pander not to them.

The scary thing is that she was this close to being a heartbeat away from the presidency, should McCain have won.
Yes I would like to see the photos. We got to see the photos of Saddam hanging. We got to see Stallin dead so why can't we see Bin Laden dead? Do a google search and you can also find JFK with half a skull.

We, as in the US, also didn't leak the Saddam footage. That was Iraq. Also, I can't find a source, but there's no reason to believe the US released photos of a recently-deceased Stalin. Bit of a difference there... the closest analogy would be Saddam's sons. However, even then, Bush was the president, and he had (ahem) different ideas towards counter-terrorism.

It's Trump time!
Trump time is any time a camera's turned on. (sigh)

You know what? I do want to see a body. In this day and age, the correct term I'm thinking is "Pics or it didn't happen."
My thinking is that the Bin Laden 'mystique' is so great that if the general public doesn't get to see a body, then we really don't know for sure if the boogeyman is dead. The American populace will want more closure then just being told he's dead, conveniently, just a few months before the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Without the proof, there will be doubters.
Area 51 houses aliens from Roswell, Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster are real and Osama Bin Laden is still alive.

Photoshop isn't that hard.
But then again, you could take the corpse on tour and let everyone stick their appendage of choice into the bullet holes and there would still be plenty of people calling bullshit.

A live television broadcast didn't stop conspiracy theories about the moon landing.
For most people who have doubts, the distinct lack of new videos from Osama saying "LOOKITME! I'M ALIVE!" whilst holding up copies of newspapers proclaiming his death will be sufficient proof that he's dead. For the remainder who still think the 'boogeyman' is out there.....

....this will be true.
EDIT: Al Qaeda just confirmed he's dead (bbc.co.uk). So no need for pictures now, right?
As someone who enjoys conspiracies, there is so many things that smell fishy to my type of people that its going to be a giant conspiracy like JFK. Another reason, is the right wing fringe already has a number of conspiracies about Obama from the birthers to secret Muslim to Anti-Christ that it was going to be a conspiracy even if they did put his head in the middle of Time Square ala Morden in Babylon 5. There is no winning for Obama with those people.
The fact that almost everyone has the ability to blog, chat or an video their own theories as well as "credible" personalities take up the case is going to turn into a maelstrom. Personally, I think he is dead and faking Osama's death is such a risky gamble, it would be impeachable plus criminal. It makes no sense to do it just for the sake of one week worth of good press if that. Obama knows this and unlike JFK, aliens and even monster sightings the risks outweighs the rewards too much for me.
There are people already using the Freedom of Information Act to release it, so I do think we will see the photo or photos and maybe even the video. It will see the light of day and people will try to disprove it no matter what. To me, I would like to see the photo, but I understand that the gloating may have gotten a bit out of hand and this is a way to help reel it in.

I'm almost to the point where I'd rather just sit the guy in an office somewhere with a phone and an internet connection, and nothing to do. You could just watch what he does like a hawk. Give him full access to the world.
