I'd say Rock & Sock vs. Evolution was very arguably the biggest issue at WrestleMania; I'd list the triple threat, Undertaker/Kane and even Jericho/Christian above that.
In any event... Foley/Orton at Backlash may not have drawn on its own, but it did give Orton-- thought of back then as a green pretty boy-- some much-needed credibility. His back was turned into the world's largest pincushion. So it arguably served its purpose.

Rock N Sock got lost by the greatest WM main event ever which we can no longer talk about. Taker's return also pushed it into the back burner. If Foley and Rock had actually won that match it might have sparked a buyrate since he wouldn't be seen as just a glorified jobber to Orton for three months. Also, everyone knew he was going to lose at Backlash. He did help build Orton, but HHH destroyed the moment he got the title. So, it was almost all for nothing. WM 20 was a great at PPV even with Brock/Goldberg, but Rock N Sock losing is a glaring problem. Rock should have pinned Flair for the win and the feud could have continued with Orton saying he didn't beat Foley. Orton giving Foley the RKO and pinning him clean ended that feud for all intensive purposes.
Hi, world! Let's take a hiatus from wrestling this week and join old man The Rock (in Heat's house) as he celebrates the most electrifying birthday in all of birth-a-tainment (with his movie star and music party pals)!

Well, the champ is here again. So fresh. But, will John Cena hold title until April's WrestleMania dream match? It's foregone?

WM -- 550-600,000 (estimates)
Extreme Rules -- predicted by Dave to be under 100,00
Under *100,000*? That's a disastrous figure.
You know who's to blame for that: Christian
I agree. Clearly his reign as Champion has been a complete failure and should be ended as soon as possible to prevent the entire Smackdown brand from being dissolved by next week.

I 100% agree with lotjx! I think circumstances conspired here though, Foley thought he was going away after Wrestlemania and would come back and do the singles match down the road, so he wanted to put Orton over as intended. But then something happened where they asked him to stay another month (I forget what, it's in his third book). So if they'd known it was a two match program all along they probably would've done your finish. Or maybe Foley loves playing the jobbing martyr so much that he would've lost all the time no matter what.
I just read about this elsewhere, and it does stink for both guys. Even if Truth is allowed to claim Morrison's injury at his hands, he needs a new feud. Evan is the closest to Morrison's ringwork in the current RAW gang, and that would allow a style continuity for now.

NuThread Fear! I'd de-merge if I had that capability. That's a thing we can do, right. What am I supposed to do, start a new thread ON TOP of this post? Yes?

I thought about that (no, really) but I worry about Kofi losing a belt again so soon to bolster Truth. Kofi is in as much need as Truth of being beefed up.
