But among the Special Ops forces and Intel types? Legendary status for life.
More badass than Jack Bauer! B^)
I'm not a vengeance kind of guy, but if there was ever a death to feel good about, this is it. I dance on his metaphorical grave.
prediction: tomorrow's close - 13,500 or higher. Watch for irrational exuberance in the market.
//edit: stem cells were Obama's other big campaign promise. I'm holding a few stemcell companies... you may see a big move for a number of reasons, but this will play into it.
The big bad wolf is dead. It is a great day. Now, how this is going to affect the long term, we can finally get a real exit strategy without too many catcalls from the military industrial complex. Yes, I have no doubt the Taliban and Al-Qaeda will mount some revenge, but we have to weather the storm or maybe force their hand enough to wipe them out or do major damage. Contradictory to what others may say, this is major blow to Al-Qaeda. For years, they have winked about Osama being alive that he was invincible, well now that is no longer the case. Moral as well as large then life characters are a big part of organizations like this and without them it starts to fall apart.
Obama has handled this like a president. He called Bush to let him know personally, gave a go order that will probably piss off Pakistan even though giant questions will now be raised about them and at the same time showed a toughness when it came to the 3 am question that many didn't think he had. Politically, its a giant win for him, but he has done the right thing and let Americans enjoy it for the next few days. He should probably do what he has been doing and giving the praise to the soldiers rightfully so.
Question: I believe one of the promises president Obama made when he took office, was to close Guantanamo Bay.
Now it seems that critical info to find Osama Bin Laden came from Guantanamo. Folks there apparently identified the courier that led them to OBL.
Could this have been one of the reasons the place was kept open after all, the fact that it was giving good leads (despite all the negative associations surrounding it)

If there was going to be an exuberance bump, it would have been out of the gate. Modest gains perhaps today, but that is more on the equity markets getting overvalued due to the weak dollar.
I am fairly sure whomever got the shot that killed him is in for a medal that he can never wear, a personnel evaluation that will be seem by SEAL types, then blacked out forever, and perhaps a one or two pay grade promotion.
Is it finally acceptable to say "HAVE FUN IN HELL, FUCK FACE!!!!!" ?
Teacher Shaves for First Time Since Sept. 11, 2001
EPHRATA, Wash. – A middle school teacher vowed after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, that he would not shave his beard until Usama bin Laden was caught.
Gary Weddle kept his word Sunday evening.
"I spent my first five minutes crying and then I couldn't get it off fast enough," Weddle, 50, told The Wenatchee World.
Weddle, who lives in East Wenatchee and teaches in Ephrata, had wanted to cut his beard for years. The gray stringy growth actually made him look a bit like bin Laden, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks who was killed by U.S. forces.
Weddle was a substitute teacher in Wenatchee when the terrorist attacks occurred on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, killing some 3,000 people.
Weddle said he was so absorbed in the news that he neglected to shave. A week or so later, he decided not to shave until bin Laden was captured or proven dead. He figured it would just be a month or two.
At the start of each school year, Weddle told students the beard was a reminder of the attacks. After all these years, Weddle figured he'd still be wearing the beard next Sept. 11, the 10th anniversary of the attacks.
He was working in his garden Sunday evening when news came that bin Laden was dead.
Weddle wasted no time finding scissors and razors. He had cut the beard and was shaving the stubble before President Obama addressed the nation.
Friends and neighbors watched him cut the beard. He cut himself while shaving for the first time in 3,454 days.
Weddle was 41 when he made his vow.
"I wanted him to get rid of it, but it was his vow," his wife Donita said. "I respected his passion and keeping a vow. I was willing to look past the beard because I love him."
Now she said her husband looks 10 years younger.
"It's a very happy moment for us," she said. "It's a very happy moment for the whole nation."
Congrats to President Clinton for getting the ball rolling, Bush for making unpopular policies that helped lead to this, and Obama for finishing the job.
Anyone who thinks it was ALL Bush or ALL Obama is a partisan hack.

Nobody said that in this thread, but thanks for chiming in three days late. It's nice to know you don't actually read the other posts before you start talking.
Too bad. I wanted to see 'em. After all, if it was good enough for John Dillinger, Herman Goering and Saddam's dipsh*t sons, it would've been good enough for OBL.
Worries about "inflaming" the Islamic extremists? Child, please. They'll hate the West for freakin' CARTOONS. It's not like there's on-the-fence Muslims out there who'll suddenly take Al-Qaeda's side because we published a picture backing up what we say, icky though it may be.
NWA Wisconsin...Live, Local Pro Wrestling! Now on Facebook! And Twitter!
I think it has more to do with Europe and other countries who view our celebrations as some sorta barbarian orgy. The picture would cement us as the barbarian horde who placed a skull on a pike. I can go either way on it and even if the picture was shown it won't stop conspiracy theorist anyway. It would be more analyzed then the Zeaprurter film. Speaking of film, I would rather see the head cam then the photos. Yet, I don't see that happening til 2050.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or jumping on me for getting on a thread late, because nobody in this thread made comments similar to mine.
What's the *benefit* of releasing the photos publicly? So a few sick individuals can get enjoy a bit of schadenfreude? Keeping them sealed is the right decision, the only sensible one.
Thread ahead: Ron Paul officially announces one more run Next thread: Harper wins majority...and other news from the Canadian Federal Election Previous thread: President Obama releases birth certificate
And to me that is just wrong. You should vote for a candidate because you think that person is right for the job, you believe in what they say, and you feel they can lead this nation into a time of safety and economic stability.
