Lethal confirms it via his Twitter account:

Lethal's a prime example of what I hate about the current TNA product the most. Here you have an immensely talented guy and TNA would swear up and down that he was their future, they'd put him over clean against actual top guys, treat it like a huge deal by having the entire locker room come out and carry him on their shoulders like he won a gold medal or something, and then proceed to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING with him and job him out until he wasn't over anymore.

I remember when Angle put over Lethal clean on PPV, they treated it like Lethal was a world conqueror, and then they proceeded to job him out until he became irrelevant. The only thing more unbelievable was that they then proceeded to do it AGAIN a few years later with Flair in place of Angle!

Remember when Hulk Hogan was cutting promos and doing interviews talking about Lethal as the future of the company? Yeah...

Lethal wouldn't fit in with the E, but I think he could do some great things in Ring of Honor.

And Nigel is apparently off of ring duty after being diagnosed with Hep C.

I have hope for seeing Lethal again. TNA is too packed a roster for a two-hour show, and they could use a post-PPV cull as well. I'm entertained by Steiner, but he doesn't need to take up a roster slot or paycheck nowadays.

This appears to speculation presented as a fact, and not actually reporting of any kind. There are other Hepatitis C incidents with other people and I think someone just took a shot in the dark. Last night, Meltzer said he had talked to Nigel, and Nigel still isn't saying why he's out of the ring to anyone but does appear to be leaving the wrestling business or at least the in-ring portion of it.

Meltzer also said that Nigel found some of the theories "amusing."

Yet another young talented guy with upside is let go yet Eric Young is still employed. Ahh nepotism. Gotta love it. Rob Terry still being employed is laughable too as well as Orlando Jordan.

They're probably just freeing up funds so they can give Scott Hall another run.

I'm not so sure that Jay Lethal has no chance in the WWE. It's unlikely that he would ever be a main eventer but he has the in ring ability to have a successful midcard and, more importantly in the WWE's eyes, he can play a character well. Lethal could easily fill a Santino-like role in the WWE. (He's similar in size (at least by billed height/weight) to Santino, as well, so that wouldn't be an issue.) He's also 26 years old, so he has a good 10 to 15 years left in his career as long as his body holds out. There aren't a lot of 26 year olds with over 9 years of experience in the ring these days.

As for Steven Haworth, did it ever come out exactly how he failed the WWE's pre-screening physical test prior to signign with TNA?

Who is Eric Young related to in TNA management? Also, didn't Eric Young negotiate a lower paying contract so that he could handle his own indy bookings? He probably isn't costing TNA much money. I still think Eric Young has a big upside, he just needs to be used properly and consistently.

Ok, so since Hogan has come in, they've lost:

Kong
Jay Lethal
Consequences Creed
Alyssa Flash
Christopher Daniels
Homicide

You could start a pretty decent indie with those guys (and girls).

Re: Nigel/Desmond

Has there been a case of a wrestler's absence being a secret for this long?? It goes into the same Wrestling Mystery file as "Why isn't Macho Man in the WWE Hall of Fame?"

I don't even think it's so much a case of "Where is he?", but a case of "Does anyone care?" And that is unspeakably depressing, considering what a can't-miss he was when he came into the company. Hogan's run absolutely ruined him.

Much as I hate Hogan, I won't pin this on him. Desmond wasn't around long enough during Hogan's tenure. But IMO, he is a huge piece that is missing from the almost tolerable TNA of 2009.

Creed was never more than filler prior to the Hogan-Bischoff regime. Homicide had been requesting his release even before Hogan joined TNA. Christopher Daniels has been jerked around by TNA for more years than I can remember.

Melissa & Kong are the absolute best example of TNA's long standing incompetence. They had a dark match which many people hailed as the greatest women's match of all time and Raven went out of his way to praise it as the best match he'd seen in many years (regardless of gender) so what does TNA do? Put them in a 2 minute squash on TV.

Now that I think about it, Creed is under a WWE development contract, so I don't think it's a stretch at all to imagine that Jay Lethal might be given a shot as well.

Eric Young is very close with Jeff Jarrett. Russo loves Eric Young too. That's why he's been around so long while more talented guys likes Sonjay, Petey, Lethl, and Daniels were let go.

Someone with a better memory than me can confirm this, but I could have sworn EY got released near the end of last year, before re-signing with TNA for a large paycut.

His contract ran out. He ended up re-signing for a lower salary but either control or a better cut of of his own indy bookings.

Oh, and Christopher Daniels already returned to TNA.

So going by Hogan's logic... the future of the company is to let everyone go?

Why does TNA make me want to not spend my money towards their company?

I am not shocked that Lethal is gone, but am still disappointed. What a waste.

Shame about Nigel. My mom has suffered from Hep C since 1981. Nigel is most likely done for good if this is true.

Meltzer said it was maybe because all the x division guys were unhappy and compained at the ppv.

So, there response is to can a well liked and respected member of the locker room.

Yeah...that will teach them.

You didn't miss much. Lawler-v-Berger was quite the mediocre stand-up fight. Neither guy would stand a chance in PRIDE. The rest of the UFC show will be on a later taped PPV. Apparently Belfort-v-Liddell was really good.
