Reminded me of Lyman Bostock getting killed, or even Eric Show. No, not trying to dredge up obscure player deaths... just what it reminded me of.

Eric Show was a creepy one - possibly because he has (had?) a prominent plaque in the UC Riverside gymnasium as part of their Hall of Fame. At least, while I was there...and of course you HAD to look at it EVERY time you were there.

It's kinda like the Dale Earnhardt Coke machine that's STILL here at XO. CREEPY.

I used to write Dale Earnhardt's endorsement quotes for our publications. The creepiest is the friggin' MONUMENT we have to him in our visitor's area. Afghans, prints and a cardboard stand up of him. They made sure all of this was out when his son Carey showed up to seal HIS endorsement deal with us. Great move, guys.

EDIT: shortly after I wrote this, the specs for the Dale Earnhardt action figure came across my desk, to be included in the 2002 Christmas catalog.

Yikes.

Are the arms articulated so he's always steering left?

Eric Show has a plaque? That is creepy.

I was at Coors Field last night and I noticed that there's a new marker, above the bullpen. (You can't see it on TV or from home plate, just from the outfield). It's baseball shaped and sez simply "#57, DK". (I may have the jersey number wrong, so go easy). Touch of class by the Rockies, I thought.

We heard the same thing about Randy last year, and while he was pretty crappy/inconsistant in the first half, he ended strong. Schilling was injured most of the season (
