I thought it was a really positive Raw. They did a lot of beneficial things.
- fixed the Extreme Rules threeway - turned Truth, who has a ton of charisma and speaking ability and can do well at this since What's Up has run its course - gave Ziggler a makeover and Serious Haircut so he can Jericho it up as frowny main event heel. looks like he's going to incorporate his Aggressive Amateur Offense, King. I'm going to miss that glorious hair. - gave Sin Cara "the rub"
I loved the R-Truth turn. It was like a turn from the 80s when two guys would be talking about whatever and one of them would get offended and snap.
The R-Truth/Morrison thing ran for wayyyyy too long. I think I had it clocked at 25 minutes, including the commercial break. Thank GOD I had it on my PVR.
I'm not going to complain about John Morrison being in the main event. I really dig him. Heck, I have one his shirts. I don't care about the "backstage politics" or whatever, I still like him in the ring. He'll probably lose, I don't care, but still. Good on him for finally making a PPV main event.
When Dolph came out, I could have sworn he was Zack Ryder.
Does Vince get hard humiliating JR and King on a weekly basis?
All in all, one of the worst episodes of Raw I've seen.
It's nothing that hasn't already been said, but I do not like Dolph's new look. His old look was distinctive; this one is generic. It also takes away one of his mannerisms, the one where he'd re-slick his hair back and then fling his sweat at the other guy. I really, really, really wish they'd let more guys have distinct looks.
Originally posted by InVerseThere sure were a lot of loud chants for a dead crowd, the most amusing being the "That's illegal!" chant when Truth lit the cigarette. Are you sure you weren't watching with your TV on mute?
Also around that time, some lone female voice shouted "Won't someone please think of the children?!" a la Helen Lovejoy.

The whole thing kind of felt like something Heyman used to turn out.
Because it is some of the crap that Heyman used to put out... remember the Smoking Big Show from the WCW days? Sure helped kill his gimmick in the WCW when they did that.
I for one never understood this love people have for Paul Hayman because EVERYTHING Hayman has done turns to bankruptcy and crap.
Paul Heyman did not book the Smoking Big Show, since he was not in WCW at the time. Heyman stopped being a WCW employee in 1993.

Why, because they both smoke?

Truth should have TOTALLY stuck that cigerette in Morrison's eye. That's just feuding 101. Then you can milk a "blind" angle with Morrison.
Couldn't agree more. I guess that would be pushing limits of the PG rating even more than they already had, though. It's a shame, as it would have turned an average segment into a classic.
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
Weird, weird Raw, capped by the surreal sight of Alex Riley and The Miz doing one of those "stand next to each other for a few seconds waiting to take a double move" lucha spots. Sin Cara getting the rub from Cena was very cool, though - especially if they're moving him next week, as I assume in the Draft thread - and as much as I don't like his music, I was reminded this week of how much I do like his gear/color scheme/entrance attire.
In agreement with pretty much everybody that changing Ziggler's look like that was a curiously stupid move. I could see maybe giving him a haircut, but not getting rid of the bleach. The look just fit his character and now he looks like nothing.
That Cole/Lawler/Swagger/JR segment was brutal. You'd think a combat veteran like Sir Cole would know how to avoid trenchfoot.
Teasing the desperately needed Morrison heel turn and then turning Truth instead seems almost perverse, and yeah, that segment went long, but holy shit Truth was awesome. Ron Killings vs. Cigarettes was, without a doubt, the best feud in the history of TNA, so I'm glad we finally get some resolution a few years later (cigarettes won). Can we assume bringing his smoking up was inspired by someone on the writing team watching old tapes and seeing some Truth.com ads or something? "That's Illegal!" has the early lead for chant of te year and "Think of the children!" the early "random dude shouts something that gets picked up on a microphone" of the year.
If they have any faith at all in Truth and let him have some time and a little push for a few weeks, I think he could make something out of this. Regular, old-fashioned multiple personality/intermittent explosiveness disorders Randy Orton vs. batshit insane hobo-crazy R-Truth suddenly seems like it could be a fun feud, as does Cena/Truth with Truth pretending to threaten to blow smoke into the faces of kids at ringside or threaten to put his cigarettes out on Cena. Also, we could get the otherwise improbable Cena/Punk alliance to stamp out smoking.
None of this does Morrison any favors in the long run, since he's still a cheesy face, but that gets solved if he's sent to SD, and it was a good reminder of his ability to take a brutal beating, especially that running knee agaisnt the barricade.

It's WWE Studios' attempt at a period-accurate font. That style was widely used in the late 1950s and early 1960s, I believe.

I dunno. The fonts and music for the previous WWE films have also been the weakest elements of the trailers. The music for Knucklehead didn't so much evoke a Romper Room audience demographic as a cheap, default ringtone.
It looks like the film marketing graphics department is getting the least amount of money of any WWE wing.

I read the spoilers due to hockey, finally got to see the Pens game, so the package upgrade was somewhat worth it. Anyway, I am with CRZ, its going to be a 4 way and I think Miz walks out with the title. I am also on the fence about which one would have made a better heel Morrison or R-Truth. Its a game of wait and see if it was the right decision, but I like the idea of Smoking Truth.

I take serious issue with Justin Roberts' ring announcing. Specifically last night when he announced the Bellas thusly:
"Accompanied by Brie, NIKKI BELLA!"
Yes? And what is Brie? She is THE DIVAS CHAMPION. I'd choke Roberts with a tie myself until he does his job properly. What a loser. [L sign on forehead]

In TNA's defense, Rhino was in the WWE for what? 4-5 years? His TNA DVD after 11 months would most likely be better than his WWE stint. Unless they put a ton of ECW stuff on there.
