Yes, it's on right now...as I write this, Michael Owen has just scored for the Brits, giving them a one-nil lead after 30 minutes. GO ENGLAND! GO BRAZIL! GO GOOD SOCCER!
I'm glad that this match isn't one long run-around fest...otherwise I'd be angry that I'm up at 1am local time (MT) to watch it.

Good effort by the English I thought. It was a solid attacking game that was quite enjoyable, just a shame my "Brazil's defence suck" theory was blown out of the water by an effective shutting down of many of England's attacks. Still I didn't have to start teaching til 9.30 because the whole school was watching the match so it wasn't a totally bad morning .
I guess Brazil would really be considered unstoppable now.

Someone should have reminded the boys in white that Brazil was DOWN A MAN for the last 35 minutes of the game. If Brazil can beat England 10-on-11, maybe can have the NBA start with red cards so we can see if the Lakers can win 4-on-5.
Alas, at least the Premiership will be underway again soon. MAN U!

You truely are a Manyoo fan. You live thousands of miles away from Manchester! ;)
Actually, I only have been watching soccer seriously for a few months, *and* it's only because I was playing with Manchester United in FIFA 2002 (won the double, too, but not the English Cup, sadly, but anyway...) I was flipping through the channels one day and I came across a Man U-Liverpool match on Fox Sports World and I was like "Hey, I know these guys! There's Beckham, and Veron, and van Nistelrooy, etc." That quickly evolved into "Wow, these guys are really good," and "Hey, this is extremely entertaining." Fast-forward three months and I'm actually seriously considering getting up at 3:30 am PT on a Sunday to watch the World Cup final and sitting through cricket highlights (which I truly don't understand) on Sky Sports News just to find out how Beckham's foot is doing.
You really picked the wrong season to start watching them. They aren't a patch on the Manyoo sides of the past 5 years. If they buy Rio from my beloved Leeds, I will not be happy. The defence of Blanc,Brown and Neville gave us 9 months of pure slapstick comedy.
I don't mind who wins the final. I'm half Irish, so no matter who wins Sunday, I can say 'Hey, at least we went out to the winners'.
Leeds, A-MOL?! Typical Yorkie! What's wrong with supporting the local team, eh? Ahhh, we both know you're the one in the right on this one!
Anyway, I have a strange feeling my beloved Villa will do great things this season. Darius Vassel is really, really good. I'm still not sure why he wasn't played more in the World cup, after all his performance in the Senegal game was pretty good....

surely you don't mean Heskey competing with Vassel? the words "Cow's", "arse" and "banjo" to mind when you mention that Heskey eejit. Vassel, as much an unknown commodity as he is, has a lot more going for him. That, friends, was Sven's first (and last) BIG mistake- he should have brought off Emil instead of Owen at the Brazil game.
(edited by sephjnr on 27.6.02 1806) COME ON BRAZIL!!! .
Sephiroth Junior's Final Thought: Sod it, there's always Wimbledon...
Apparently O'Leary was sacked... I've still yet to discover why exactly.
I'm glad Heskey finally scored in the Denmark match and all, but he still remains "Fat Dobba" as we affectionately refer to him. I still hold that Vassell should have been given more of a chance to prove himself in the World Cup. In the opener against Senegal he was literally all over the field doing a lot of other people's jobs and I think he would have had a lot more stamina left than Dobba does at the end of a match.
Still, in retrospect the English performance was a good one overall considering Owen and Beckham were injured throughout. In fact, when you strip away all the nationalistic rose tinted glasses, you have to admit Beckham was really sub-par in his performances and shied away from a lot of the action. Had Nicky Butt or someone else done that they'd have been crucified by the press, so Dave should be thankful it's now practically illegal to criticise him. I can't wait for 2006 when (God willing) we'll have a fully healthy side of mostly the same guys with a lot more experience.
Wow. Optimism from an English football fan... who'd of thunk it?!

Hoo boy, now the criminal charges are being filed for lying on the police report. Also, the radio here was saying that Jim Brown (former Browns running back)
