I think if you swap the position of the Taker match with Cena/Miz, then the reaction to this show would have been wayyyy more positive. A sub-par main event understandably left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. No way was this one of the worst Manias, for me it's a notch above last year, but it suffered from match timing problems. It's a worry that this seemingly happens year after year now!

I thought Taker/HHH was an outstanding effort, Punk/Orton and Edge/Del Rio very good as well. Cole/Lawler entertained the hell out of me, needed less Cole offense. Glad for Cody to get a WM win, hopefully he continues to improve.

A ten-minute Rock promo isn't my idea of a Wrestlemania opener. Bryan and Sheamus should have been in that spot.

Yeah, this is a weird reaction base dmostly on the main event, I think. A double CO/Dusty finish in the WM main is ballsy/very, very stupid. But aside from Cole/Lawler, was there a bad match on the show? Short ones, yes. But an actual bad match? Punk/Orton was very good, as was Edge/Del Rio, and Rey/Rhodes did a great job of putting Cody over. and UT/HHH was epic.

What they did right:

- putting over The Miz

- Triple H vs. Undertaker (Is Taker ok now? He looked dead after the match and this time for real!)

What went wrong:

- Cena's entrance. What was that all about? And why did it have to be even longer than Taker's and Triple H's respective entrances? Or did it only feel that way? I wonder how The Miz and Riley managed to not fall asleep in the ring during that whole thing.

- all of that stupid backstage stuff (only the Austin/Rock-confrontation was necessary and worth it)

- I didn't expect Daniel Bryan to be on the show in the first place, but then they booked him against Triple H's buddy Sheamus ... just to kick them both off the card? Did they really need the time for Snoop, Pe Wee and May Young or are they dicks on purpose again? Stupid E!

- So, this was Jerry Lawler's big Wrestlemania moment? Losing to Michael Cole and getting the spotlight stolen by Stone Cold? At least they could have played the King's music for a little while longer, instead of Austin's. How sad!

Other than that it will be interesting to see what will happen next. Will they go straight to Rock/Cena or will Rock win his tenth (I think) championship from The Miz first?

I just want the Miz's pre-entrance video. Someone please provide a link.

Show was thumbs in the middle. Taker/HHH was amazing story-telling and Rhodes really needs to move up based on his performance tonight.

As mentioned earlier, Punk's facial work sells his matches perfectly.

Snooki surprised everyone here with her genuine effort. The crowd was stunned as well.

Tonight's Raw should be interesting indeed.

I am ok with a non-active wrestler beating the crap out of the mania event and opening the show, because he at least kept the crowd awake. You could hear crickets through the entire show. This is an indoor arena, so I am not sure what WWE's excuse will be for the lack of crowd noise this year. Edge/ADR was fine opening the match, because to me that was at least interesting and kept the crowd into it. I actually think it was the better HHH/Taker, because it was at least fast paced. Now, I could see where people think HHH/Taker is a better match. Yet, HHH giving Taker the Tombstone was the only time, I thought shit he is going to win only to have Taker kick out. It was a good match, but the anti-climatic end and the forever stretcher job takes away any MOTY talk, but its been such a crap year for matches that I am ok with people thinking it might belong in that category.

WWE killed the crowd with the Cole decision. It was the same way they killed the crowd with HHH over Booker T at 19 and doing Batista/Taker at WM 23 in the middle of the event. They could have reversed the decision on Raw if they were going to do that. They had great momentum after the Stunner Beer Bash then it landed dead til HHH/Taker and Rock coming out at the end were only things to pop the crowd from that point on. To me, the WWE's lack of having a face inside the company to stop Cole has hurt them. I am not sure what the point of continuing Lawler/Cole is and I really don't care. Also, why doesn't someone just ignore the Raw GM's emails, its not that hard. Rock rock bottoming Cena and costing him the title was the Wrestlemania moment people wanted and got. I am ok with that since Rock was one of the few people who kept the crowd entertained and interested through out the night even I could have done without the Pee-Wee Herman skit, but I did jump out of my seat for Rock/Austin.

This was a weak PPV to begin with and instead of building some fast paced action they went with the WWE slow prodding style for almost every match that was more then 2 minutes long. Orton/Punk don't mesh well. Rhodes needed to be more over as a heel for the crowd to care. Cena has hit the wall in his career and while I thought Miz did try hard, he was not ready to main event at Mania. The PPV was sold on one man, Rock. Rock delivered. Edge/ADR delivered, Rey's costume delivered, Austin and Lawler delivered, Booker taking the stunner delivered, Miz tried to deliver, Taker/HHH delivered and even the two minute match guys delivered. Everyone else called in sick or missed the mail box by a mile. Also, what the fuck was up with the giant Energon Cube above the ring? That thing begged me all night.

I assume the Cole decision being reversed was mainly so that Josh could eat a Stunner and King and JR could be left alone to call the second half of the show and generally make me miss them every week on Raw. I was pretty bummed out by that too, and even moreso when the fucking chime went off in ME.

Quality-wise, this show is almost a carbon copy of WM25. I think I prefer this one because while the matches weren't blow-away, they were at least fresh.

There were a few ways to get rid of Josh without killing the show. WM25 had Taker/Shawn which I thought blew away everything else on this card away. Yet, I do think Rock rock bottoming Cena was one of the better moments of the last few Manias. I am a moment guy and that made me jump out of my seat, so I don't see this Mania as bad as others do. The workrate on this PPV maybe the worst of all time though plus the pacing was just boring.

Such a weird show. I think I need to see where they go with the angles to determine the show's success. I mean, using Mania to further the Cena/Rock angle? That's what you do at a Rumble.

My checklist:
I'm OK with Edge/Del Rio first to get the crowd going. It was a fun math, and I'm genuinely surprised Edge won. Del Rio hit an impressive deep-dish armbar. But the destruction of the car works better if Edge lost and trashed it for revenge.

CODY RHODES IS AWESOME. Great, great delayed vertical superplex and that home run knee brace swing to the head? Oh Lordy, I love me some Cody.

The eight-man tag matches were abysmal. Trish looked great, Snooki hit a Muta spot (!), and Wade proved once again that he's as tall as Kane by booting him in the head.

CM Punk is pound-for-pound the WWE's best performer. How do you block an RKO? KICK HIM IN THE FUCKING HEAD.

Taker/Hunter started strong and faltered in the end. Nice emotion -- great Hunter reaction when Taker popped out of the Tombstone pinfall, I liked Taker angrily climbing out of Cole's cell -- but it was not a wrestling match, and it again exposes Hunter as a weak performer of late. Taker receiving trainer aid was surprisingly evocative.

How is Rock anything but a full-on heel now? Who else expected him to reveal himself as the RAW GM when he took the podium? MIZ POPPED OUT OF AN FU! Cena weighs only nine more pounds than Miz! Alex Riley's job could be done by anybody!

Michael Cole worked his ass off, and now we have to listen to him crow about beating Lawler.

I think I got my money's worth. But I can't say I'm content with what they did. SmackDown should be very interesting this week.

Long matches don't make good matches and some of these matches went on forever. Add in very short matches and you have a very unbalanced PPV. What do you consider the worst workrate PPV? I would put WM 2 on that list as the worst one and this comes damn close. I don't see Rock being heel since Cena did blindside him on Monday with the FU then laughed about it like a villain. Speaking of villains, no love for Regal's rap that was great. Rock will be tweener if he decides to stay and that is a big IF even with the rumor, he is taking the next 3 months off to be in the WWE. Again, Rock taking out Cena was a moment saved only for Mania, so it works.

Regal's rap was great indeed and made that segment for me.

I have to admit, I bet the HHH-UT match will be better with commentary but in the arena I was disappointed (finisher-kickout, repeat rinse) I understood the story but it didn't work for me.

Cena-Miz was good and the crowd -was- into it. Half of em cheering for Miz. Of course the double countout sucked but at least that gave em a logical way to have the Rock come down and doing what needs to be done. Miz wins! Awesome!

I was pissed off when they announced the US title match as pre-ppv. And rolled my eyes when they said lumberjack.
cos damnit, you could see the br coming a mile away then.

Maybe they get a rematch on raw? *fingers crossed*

Punk and Cody were great, and so was Rey's costume.

Everything combined a fun night but not the best WM of em all.

The main event has no bearing on the borderline braindead booking (Corre losing that quickly? Orton getting the win? Snooki grabbing a pinfall? MICHAEL COLE "WRESTLING" FOR 10 MINUTES STRAIGHT? That whole Lawler/Cole "match" was botched to hell), on the irrational pacing (No Bryan/Sheamus, the 4-man tag gets all of 2 minutes, we rush through everything in the space of a hour....for what? To give Michael Cole more time to ride Lawler's leg like a kid on a jungle gym? To give Trips and Taker more time to lie down on the mat and do nothing?), and outside of apparently Rey/Rhodes, no there were no good matches. There was hardly any wrestling at all.

And sorry, but HHH/Taker wasn't good. I already explained why.

The match started with two old dudes trying to get through a WM caliber match with table stuff and kicking out of signature moves. But the heart of the match wasn't mere finisher fight, because the difference was that they were all kickouts by one guy -- Undertaker on the ropes and on the verge of death. Finisher-kickout-repeat is both guys taking turns kicking out and going on offense. This was UT getting his ass kicked and hanging on for dear life. I think the drama in the ending might play better with a camera closeup because you could see HHH struggling to find his hammer to bonk UT in the face, with the knowledge that this move was Taker's only chance to win.

Couldn't Rock have just come out when Riley was interfering, sparing a bunch of downtime and building to a better finish? The bottom line for me is that almost the entire show was sold on Rock's involvement and the ultimate showdown with Cena, and his involvement was a promo that said little and couldn't touch the ones on TV plus two skits out of the Raw Guest Host random vignette generator, and his big showdown was two seconds of interaction. That, more than a few matches that were disappointingly "pretty good" instead of "really good," is why I thought this show was such a letdown.

Agree with a lot of the people on here. Pacing for the show sucked.

Too many nonsense segments that went nowhere just for the sake of having them. Rock/Austin meeting was good, but the setup took too long.

No idea who planned out Cole/Lawler but just when the finish saved the Cole "offense" part of the match, they went and blew that too with the GM.

Cody/Rey was match of the night for me. I wanted to like more matches, but too many dead spots. Punk/Orton was good though. Lots of good moments in Cole/Lawler, they just couldn't put it together. I love Zack Ryder, and he made me love him again here. Snooki did pretty good for her 24 seconds of wrestling, even if the match she was in was a joke.

Miz kicking out of the AA was the moment of the night though. Don't mind Rock getting involved in the end of the show, but they needed to do it without the GM laptop, especially having used the laptop already in the show.

At the end of the day, this was $65 for just a 4 hour RAW, which seems to be the only thing they know how to put together anymore. It's too bad since I REALLY wanted to like this show.

I have to wonder if Lawler booked the match himself. Stalling was always his trademark as a heel. Thing is, he has the charisma to keep the audience engaged even when he's stalling for minute after minute after minute. And Cole doesn't.

They really should've let him use the piledriver too.

... but something needed to happen during all that down time. I know these guys don't want to ruin the legacy of this match by overbooking it, but when you have so many dead spots a manager, a run in, or even a concerned friend from the back who checks on his buddy and eats a couple of punches is almost a must. I enjoyed the match, but there were times where Helmsley was overselling the moment and something had to happen.

The ending was good with the MMA submission out of nowhere, unfortunately it looked like it was terribly applied. I was able to convince myself that yes it was really locked on, but a moment like that you should have that move really cinched in there.

It is the first time I remember seeing the Undertaker show that kind of emotion when not putting someone away with a finisher or that kind of vulnerability. It could be another way to add life to the character if they decide to expand on the aging outlaw aspect of it all.

A couple of things I would like to address. One, I don't think it would make sense for Rock to jump in after Riley interfered. It made more sense for him as the Guest Host to restart the match. He didn't want Cena to win, so why help him fight off Riley? Two, Rock destroying the laptop was probably done for a few reasons. To get back at the GM for ruining the Lawler match. Rock even motions Lawler and Ross to stay away from it in a way that said "You guys, had a long night, I'll take care of this." He is pretty much avenging the fans and to some extent all of Cole's enemies with destroying the laptop. The other reason, he got rid of the laptop was to show he was in charge which he was. Lastly, I think the reason for not using the piledriver was due to the Taker/HHH where it became a huge part of that match. There was no need to do that move earlier plus it seems Cole/Lawler will be going on longer, so its better to use it down the road in a match where Taker won't be in which it looks to be the rest of the year. And yeah, it did have a Raw feel more then Mania.

Rock and Stone Cold did very well in their roles. But the problem Wrestlemania 27 is it really didn't put any one over who wasn't already over to begin with. Not having a money in the bank really hurt them this year, I hope they go back to that next year and get rid of the money in the bank PPV.

And Taker-HHH was darn good considering the health of both wrestlers.

It sounds like that may have been a legit stretcher job. While it might have been good storytelling to have both guys carted off, it also could have been disrespectful of Takers legit injury (if it is, in fact, legit.) Plus they probably need a little advance warning to do a fake stretcher job.

I think the move looks stronger if it finishes an earlier match. If Cole suffers the move and loses, it makes Taker and Hunter look stronger if they can compete after taking a similar, yet stronger move. While a Tombstone is similar to a piledriver, I still consider it a deadlier maneuver compared to a standard piledriver.

Also, it would demonstrate just how angry Lawler was at the indignities Cole dished out in the past month. He uses the flying punch in every match. Consider how Taker put away Shawn in their match last year. He used a LEAPING Tombstone to punctuate just how riled up he was. That's what Lawler should have demonstrated.
